My father was heartbroken when he found out his sister (my Tia), passed away back in Feb this yr. Then he finds out about Vin Scully's passing and he was devastated. I sat next to him, gave him a hug, and I told him "Look on the bright side dad, Tia is now hanging out with Tommy Lasorda and Vin Scully." R.I.P to a TRUE ICON! R.I.P Vin Scully! You will be missed! 😥

It's literally like a death in the family!
To Bob's point at the end. There is a video clip of Vin telling the history of beards. He starts the story with 2 outs in the inning and no one one. The whole story lasts 5 minutes... which is exactly how long it takes for the inning to end because people keep getting on base!

I recently lost my dad & brother to covid last year. That destroyed me completely and im still trying 2 pick up the broken pieces. Vin was that voice that didn't just called dodger games and many other iconic sport moments but he was a voice that while listening to dodger games that assured you, everything will be ok. We will be ok. It's a blessing to have had vin for 67 years. This amazing run will never be duplicated. Even if you were angry, sad, depressed, etc... Listening to a dodger game with Vin on the mic made everything all better 🙏🏾❤ R.I.P Vinny We will miss you dearly sir.

Vin was my favorite since I was ten years old in Brooklyn. He was amazing and was the Dodgers voice. We loved that he was a lip reader and would tell what was being said during screaming matches between umpire vs manager. “Fertilizer!” Instead of “B_____it!”. When the Dodgers retreated to the left coast, the only times I saw Vin afterward was when he did World Series games and I enjoyed his work. Especially when my newer favorites, the Mets, played in 1986 series. He was a gem.

Vin Scully is in a league of his own but if anyone today could take the baton it’s Bob Costas. He’s under appreciated if you ask me.

It angers me when internet trolls depreciate Bob Costas. There are certain people in the world who are bothered by intelligent people such as Costas. We are definitely living in an ever increasing dumbed down society.

Brooklyn will always have the boys of summer to claim as their own, but for those of us who grew up in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s in Los Angeles Vin will forever be our voice of summer.

My Grandfather came out from Sicily, by way of Brooklyn. He saw Jackie play at Ebbits. I was born with Dodger Blue in my veins. Rest in Peace like the GOAT you are 💙

I agree that Vin was great with the big moments, but he was even better with the average game. Vin gave you a reason to listen to an August game with the Dodgers seven games out of first. You still would listen to him every night.

Part of his legacy was that he didn't want to share the booth. Another is dissing Kap & basically telling those silently protesting to shut up & play. And he talked about Drysdale and Koufax waaay more than Jackie Robinson.
