I graduated one graduate school of U of I in 1969. I visited several times with my wife who was also a graduate of a graduate school. The time I entered the school, the U of I was one of only two graduate schools, Cornell and the U of I.
Urbana-Champaign - even for an LA Native (who has unlimited attractions at their every whim) - is Nothing w/out UIUC (bien sur) >>>>> that being said:: the Campus Itself is large enough (10+times larger than UCLA’s beautiful Campus) …. Has 40,000+ Student/Staff/Faculty body - to make up for the lack of development and community in Urbana-Champaign (other than Parkland College nearby which is amazing) …. And the Social Life @UIUC is World-Class -- and Fitness and Academia infrastructure is amazing as well …. Clearly the Top “Big” Campus in the USA …. Cheers!!!!!
my dad lived there until he expired in 2018, i spent time running around...i was quite bored to tears in april/ may.......however...i'd like to spend the summer there for peace and quiet and real grass, in fla we have crab grass,

It is absolutely true that students pay a fee, part of which goes to cover CUMTD. However, the fee also helps fund the SafeRides program, support a campus and community transport plan, and enhance late night transportation.
It should have the buses are without fares. Some cities have municipal support and charge a fare when boarding. The C-U bus system charges student fees and is tax supported. The biggest advantage with no boarding fares is ease of use. No worrying about change, passes or transfers.
@@shadeassassin9248 that's sad ! I just received an admit from it. At this point I just can't think anything negative about the university. I just want to go there and do my best
Maybe Champaign is a nice to live but it has a some crime issues. Carle Hospital employs incompetent nurses from Parkland College. CH includes hideous mistreatment patients. Parkland College School of nursing has a 79% passing rate on state boards exams while Lakeland College school of nursing has a pass rate of 100% on state board exams. Carle Hospital includes workplace mobbing and bullying to include patients. They falsify records, etc. I know this to be fact as a patient or my patients. Im career nurse myself but I’m now retired. I’ve covered many hospitals and nursing homes as an agency nurse and I have never witnessed such a hideous and nonfunctional unstructured hospital in my entire life of 65 years. It needs to be shut down or restructured because of the high risk of fatal errors and abuse. I had 4 cardiac arrest at this hospital due to omission of heart medication. I’m filing a complaint against Carle Hospital with HHS. Some of their Parkland nurses who work at Carle Hospital need to have their nursing license revoked. The other hospitals in the area are very good and Sarah Bush is excellent.
Love your incredible energy in the video

The bus system (CUMTD) is NOT free. Students pay a fee that is actually higher than the cost of an annual pass that a resident would buy.
It is absolutely true that students pay a fee, part of which goes to cover CUMTD. However, the fee also helps fund the SafeRides program, support a campus and community transport plan, and enhance late night transportation.
Good point. The statement in the video is misleading.
Well, rides are all free now

The govt should invest in public transportation, instead of, ripping off college students

Safe?
Can someone tell me about the shootings happening often? UIUC is my dream school, is it safe to attend the school
very safe
My experience with living there was not the case but had nothing to do with shootings.
The university has a long history of discrimination.

The music scene isn't half as good as it was ten years ago.
