    Some really great advice in this video. I wish I knew this stuff when I started jumping rope 3 years ago. My first rope was a 2.5mm thick speed rope. I still use it today and whilst the bearings are starting to wear, and I've been through 3 chords, it's still going strong having recently set a new consecutive double under PB of 200. I was thinking about replacing it with the Buddy Lee supersonic rope since I can get it for a decent price in the UK at the moment but I might just hold off on that until the handles on my current speed rope fail beyond usage. The other thing holding me back from buying the supersonic rope is that it comes with a 10 ft. cable which means I'll also have to buy a pair of strong wire cutters to trim it down to a suitable length, which, based on the reviews looks like a hassle.

      G, 200 DUs in a row is excellent. Celebrate that milestone with a nice dinner or something special. You're right - the Buddy Lee Super Sonic is a hassle to measure. Buddy Lee actually measured and cut mine himself, so he saved me the trouble! That was a cool day. It's still a good rope, though. If you don't want the hassle, you may want to look at the EliteSRS Bullet Comp. You still have to size it but it's much easier.

      @@JumpRopeVeteran I looked at the Bullet comp too but it's currently £48 in the UK (around 68 USD right now) compared to about £29 for the supersonic (≈40 USD) tax(VAT) included.

    Thank you for your service and videos. I’m a beginner and I was overwhelmed with the available choices of ropes. This is a good starting point for me while I build my jump rope skill set. I went with Punk Rope and I’m looking forward to supplement my cardio routine.

    Appreciate all your videos. I bought a crossrope get lean set after doing a bunch of research and watching a bunch of your content. My goal is to get to a point where I can experiment with more sophisticated tricks and do some freestyle stuff. It looks challenging and super fun. What should I look for in my own performance to know if I'm ready to make the jump? No pun intended.

      Thank you for watching and supporting. I don't think you need to wait for a specific moment. I think that if you want to try to freestyle tricks, that you should buy a freestyle rope and go for it. Don't delay. Life is too short. Just jump right in. Take care.

    I started jumping 6-7 months ago, following your recommendation for the Punkrope, which I found great (easy, affordable & comfortable). Lately, after I understood that jumping is kinda my thing now, I went on the high end with Get Fit set of CR which is def a next level challenge. So yeah, definitely Punkrope is recommended for beginners, and probably the other two as well.

    I started jumping last fall. The video I watched was like, "use any rope it doesn't matter." I started with a PVC coated wire rope, I guess a speed rope. Terrible, I know. Luckily I was determined to learn to jump rope. After about a month and a half, I switched to a "one pound" fully PVC rope which has become my favorite rope again, in the middle I started to like beaded ropes a lot. I have a two beaded ropes and one of them I shortened and it's 6 inches or so shorter. I have a Limm PVC rope and I never use it because I hate it so much. In May I switched back to the one pound rope from the beaded ropes. My last purchase was the get strong set, but I got a cold right after so I've barely used it as I''m still recovering. The 2 pound rope is a beast. I have a love hate relationship with it already.

      The two pounder gives a tough workout, that's for sure. It sound like you've found your groove and that your determination kept you going. Keep up the great work. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. 🙏🏽💪🏽

    Hey thanks for your time with such a thorough video. I'm new to jumping rope (or returning but much more dedicated than ever before) and I found an old nylon jump rope (with short chunky foam handles and bearings) I've had lying around and it works great for me but I've noticed that no one seems to use actual ROPE for jumping rope and I wondered why.
    I also see many beginners complain about the pain of whipping themselves with their (I assume thin PVC) rope and this is never an issue for me. Nylon rope doesn't hurt.
    Do you any opinion or idea about why nylon ropes are so rarely used?

    • @JumpRopeVeteran
      @JumpRopeVeteran  2 роки тому +1

      Great question. PVC and steel ropes are likely more common because they're easier to control for most people. Two excellent jumpers I know, Billy Werner and Nate KG, use nylon ropes from time to time. It boils down to personal preference. 💪🏾
