  • This is your third and final video of Zanesville this year before she was packed up and put back into the back room, and likely not to come out again until 2025. What you're seeing this last one time is the works taking place on the board join within the background (the foam and wood being ripped up), and utilising the H16-44, a box car and an express reefer to test out said join. The actual decoupling and shoving with the Kadee magnets are bonuses, however the shots were so good I decided to make it a kind of focus.
Not too long into the video you will be treated to the work area, and you'll be able to spot the DCC Concepts solder-friendly ties and soldered ends supporting the board join. If you were here from the start, or at least aware of Zanesville's shortcomings, you'd know the reason for these works was because the rails were not matching up. Also, the small crossover leading into the siding was also not routing power to the stock rails, so a bit of soldering was needed there. Overall, before the works, with the siding in front of the industries, you may have gotten your locomotive in, but getting it out without the hand of god was another matter. Now, thanks to these works, the H16-44 at least, performs quite beautifully.
As for the Kadees and uncoupling magnets themselves; I find them to be an absolute treat. Back in the early days I made full use of this theory on my loft layout, in spite of all the other issues, and the love of the mechanism is still alive and well.

    ABOUT MID ESSEX MRC
Mid Essex is a model railway club based in Margaretting (just off the A12) meeting 3 times a week working (to a healthy rotation) on layouts of many different sizes and gauges including HO as can be seen in this video. Several of these layouts have received invites to other clubs' exhibitions so you may see us out on the circuit!
The club itself recently held an Open Day, advertised mainly to the local clubs, but our exhibition (see links) has been advertised where possible and practical. Everyone is welcome to come visit the club, especially those with a keen interest in one of the scales modelled, otherwise all are welcome to come along to our exhibition. Our layouts may not make an appearance there but we put the show on to support our fellow clubs and their layouts, as they have regularly done for us.

    ABOUT THE CHANNEL
This is my personal channel so I distribute mainly videos about HO scale models, but once in a while you may find videos of the local prototypes around the UK. My central passion is North American but I do have some fondness for some of the British stock, but one must prioritise such things so you'll be lucky to see any of that.
Previously as you may have seen, back in time I had a layout running in the early stages but life and leasehold covenants regarding loft spaces restricted that, so all you may find for now are videos on other layouts such as this. BUT THAT WILL HOPEFULLY CHANGE IN THE NEAR FUTURE - STAY TUNED!!
I am also a Thamesider, and I manage their UA-cam channel which can be found here:
