Invasion USA on Great Tey ~ Volume '24
The invasions of the Americans on the OO layout, Great Tey, are back, and this time we're using our opportunity to flood the British rails in order to test track, point work and general enjoyment. As you can no doubt see, there are still some spots to work on, but overall the layout is doing well and almost in good shape for the Erith exhibition in Jan 2025.
Great Tey is based on Mark's Tey in Essex on the Great Eastern mainline, and when the Americans are kicked off for exhibition time, it is intended to be modelled based on the end of steam and the beginnings of the diesels. The trackwork on the scenery boards are all hand-laid including point work, and there is an accompanying lever frame to operate the points and hopefully the future signals.
Some of the power routing issues have been solved since this recording, however others may still be in affect up until the exhibition. We're also in the process of getting up our lighting unit and as of this video, our LED battens for the front are all operational and we had the opportunity to test a couple of spotlights for the rear of the boards. Overall it is looking very promising.
As it is a club, necessity dictated the need to cut some of the audio from time to time as I didn't want to stop people having conversations. I have replaced those times with the same music which can be heard during the intro and outro:

ABOUT MID ESSEX MRC
Mid Essex is a model railway club based in Margaretting (just off the A12) meeting 3 times a week working (to a healthy rotation) on layouts of many different sizes and gauges including HO and EM. ABOUT THE CHANNEL
This is my personal channel so I distribute mainly videos about HO scale models, but once in a while you may find videos not only from Mid Essex, but also the local prototypes around the UK. My central passion is North American but I do have some fondness for some of the British stock, but one must prioritise such things so you'll be lucky to see any of that.
Previously as you may have seen, back in time I had a layout running in the early stages but life and leasehold covenants regarding loft spaces restricted that, so all you may find for now are videos on other layouts such as this. BUT THAT WILL HOPEFULLY CHANGE IN THE NEAR FUTURE - STAY TUNED!!
I am also a Thamesider, and I manage their UA-cam channel which can be found here: ua-cam.com/channels/5mTEE419UT2mV-NAuRx8-Q.html

Running the Blackwells Brewery Company at the 2024 Cambridge Exhibition ~ Part 4
Переглядів 212Місяць тому
This is the final video of the Mid Essex Model Railway club showcasing our oldest and arguably most beloved layout, the EM Gauge Blackwells Brewery Company, at the Cambridge Exhibition in 2024. It is based on the ex-GER cross-country route to Ongar and Dunmow, closed in the 60s as another victim to the Beeching cuts. A central (and popular) feature of the layout is the operating coal tipper, wh...

This exhibition visit only involved myself, as the wife didn't fancy driving over an hour (and dealing with the Dartford Crossing) just for trains. Like Shoeburyness, there were several great layouts including Mid Essex MRC's Butler Central, their N gauge offering. North American was represented here as well, albeit a little less compared to previous exhibitions and surprisingly, none of them f...

Running Mid Essex MRC's Zanesville Session 2
Переглядів 484 місяці тому
This is your third and final video of Zanesville this year before she was packed up and put back into the back room, and likely not to come out again until 2025. What you're seeing this last one time is the works taking place on the board join within the background (the foam and wood being ripped up), and utilising the H16-44, a box car and an express reefer to test out said join. The actual de...

The wife and I decided to drive down to Southend and visit Shoeburyness MRC's 40th exhibition. There were several great layouts including a common favourite N scale modular of mine, as well as a really clever MERG-supported layout which turns out won best of show - really deserved. The wife was very proud of me for not shelling out too much, but as you can tell by the intermission, I did buy a ...
Running Mid Essex MRC's Zanesville

Following the relative success of Mid Essex Model Railway Club's Open Day, we received news from the gents working on the new layout Gillies Road, that they'd need to keep it up for a couple of weeks in the main room. This meant we could get some more shots of Zanesville! This iteration of running sees a member running and consisting his newly arrived British Columbia Railway M420s by Rapido, a...
Zanesville at the Mid Essex Open Day 2024

I was very pleased to have the opportunity to run Zanesville this year alongside her layout manager (LM) on Mid Essex Model Railway Club's Open Day. This layout isn't perfect by any means, however for most of the day I was able to keep myself occupied and busy, which isn't an easy feat by any stretch. Aside from the LM's trains, I brought with me loco number 2803, an Atlas Fairbanks Morse H16-4...
The USA HO Scale models invade Mid Essex MRC's Great Tey 00 layout (again)

A 20 minute (or so) mashup of HO scale USA models invading the Great Tey layout at Mid Essex Model Railway Club. The general purposes for all of these runs was just to test locomotives and some rolling stock, details of which can be found below just above the chapters section. As you could possibly tell, most if not all the stock running here is ATSF stock from various manufacturers but special...

It's time for another episode of "On the layout (or modules)", going over the progress on the layout (or module) (hopefully plural at some point). This is module version two. For those that may have seen my original module build, you can safely treat this as my more successful venture so please assume that one doesn't exist; it doesn't really any more anyway. On the workbench 2 - Replacing a steam generator car's PCB, and making some "inoperable repairs"

It's time for another episode of "On the workbench", where I show you what I've been up to on my workbench during the last month or so. This time, it has been mostly about fixing things, including replacing a Rapido Trains' Steam Generator's PCB and all manner of what I would call "inoperable repairs". There is also some quick visits of my inventory sheets, as well as two new introductions to t...

Wonderful. Very fond memories of helping on the BBC at several shows all over the country. Thanks so much for posting.
@SDD3204 it was a pleasure! I was operating the coal tipper and chain shunt for most of this session. They're going to be at Ipswich with it this weekend; I'll hopefully come see them get some more video.
Ufff !. The track maintenance is *A COMPLETE DISASTER* ! ! ! ! !.
@@jhonny1392 I think you're just being over dramatic. Everything bar that one point ran just fine. Something is being done about it, and I dare you to see it in Ipswich in November.
I first saw this layout years ago, probably in the mid 90's, and was captivated by it then as now - Glad to see it is still with us!
Indeed it is. Currently undergoing a rewire to fix those issues you see in the video, and potentially future proof it for another generation. Your next chance to see it will be at Ipswich in November.
De da Niro as pesi says is a a jerk , jerk., jerk off ... I'LL NEVER WATCH HIS MOVIES EVER... HE'S WASHED UP ANYWAY 😭😔😭😔😭😭😭😭😔
Wonderful !
I agree; it is a fantastic layout and I'm doing my best to fix the limited amount of issues that it has.
Gee, a clear signal with the block occupied?
Can't rely on the signalmen these days!
Well, it's a beautiful layout. Do you have detection?
@johnschultz9023 oh it is for sure. We don't, that signal is operated by a rotary switch. Maybe in the future...
😊
Tell me you didn’t do this on the hottest day of 2022 (so far)?
No. About a week or two ago, just before it started heating up.
Great train layout 🚂😃
Someone has great taste in grain cars! Very nice…
I especially like the green ones. The yellow ones maybe need some weathering or a light dusting...
Awesome video you done. Thanks for sharing.
Love this. Miss Steve so much but this really shows off his sense of humour. GLUE FACTORY!
Nice video today. Thanks for sharing
Great upload found it very interesting. Thanks for sharing
Nice collection of locomotives!
Very nice trains!
great video and an interesting layout!
Oh yes - I think they call it "Tey". Next exhibition is next year I beleive though unfortunately.
Enjoyed the video today thanks.
Hi if you get time Have a look at my channel. See what you think. Thanks for your support and time.
Am impressed that the clearances allow for the bigger cars. Nice!
But it isnt enough for the autoracks and double stacks...
Them roof timbers look old enough that a person couldn't drive a nail in one without dynamite on the tip.
Definetly takes some force. They tended to over engineer back in the day (or so I heard).
Nice update today thank you.
Hi if you get time Have a look at my channel. See what you think. Thanks for your support and time.
Nice video like it very much
Thanks very much - I'll try to add some more variety for the next one, but I am partial to some passenger units :)
Is this paragon2 sound?
AWESOME!!!😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈😁🎈
I stumbled upon the Mauch Chunk website years ago and have always found this model railway fascinating. Great to see it going strong years later. Cheers to the lads who made it possible. The CNJ in the UK at Warley, it doesn't get more unique than that.
Dome car: Central Valley made some of the best trucks for the day, and likely this is a custom built car from sides or a kit. What seems missing is the recessed lower-level under the dome. Odd...
Pullman (mostly sleeping) cars were named, usually, rather than numbered. The CNW 6-6-4 cars were in the Northern series...
First BN car I’ll wager is a sleeping car...
Chair car is one step up from a coach, but not quite a parlor car (which was first class), to sit in and converse during the day...
Hold up... So not only do I need lounge-diner-kitchen and sleepers, I need PARLOURs too? Haha!
TryExactRail and see if the parts are in stock...
The diner has six-wheel trucks because the prototype was heavier than the others. The phase 1 is the Amtrak paint scheme...
You are wrong on the Pullman/Budd thing. Budd built the original Burlington Zephyr cars. Budd dates from 1912. Pullman a bit earlier...
I figured once I started seeing both with the Hi-Levels lol. Thanks though...
SL: Streamlined
Looks like the valve gear is loose...
Lead truck - driving wheels - trailing truck. Numbers are the count of wheels
Some info for passenger car prototypes: docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1WTQYRT74WhpXmGqFLOfK3uFqEHdLkjBBfzLCPSL4cao/mobilebasic
PS: Pullman Standard ACF: American Car and Foundry
Including car numbers on boxes or box liners is a relatively recent addition. Once upon a time there would only be one number...
2-6-2: two pilot wheels (for better tracking in corners and at speeds), six driving wheels, and two trailing wheels (bigger firebox usually). Tenders could vary between same models as needed, and were not part of the numbering system...
Always the font of knowledge - thanks again dad!
Ah, transition car. Where did that come from lol?
I may ask another favour like that in future LOL
54 foot Pullman Standard Covered Hopper
It is an SD35; two large and one small fan... 7014 is the Atlas Catalog number.
Buying blindly is fun...
Not anymore hopefully - Getting there with the inventory; at 30 rows at the moment. If I keep up the pace, will hopefully have them all there by Christmas!
Too bad they are too modern for my liking. Oh wait, I have this show layout.... hmm...
Do it do it do it do it...
Nice little vignette...and just look at all of those nice old Athearn "Blue Box" cars...I am a fellow who defends not only the fact that these cars look great in a layout scene, but they are also, as far as appearance is concerned, almost as good as the newer $35.00, $45.00 super detailed ones, especially when they are running by in a moving consist...I do, and always will use these old pieces of rolling stock with pride and no shame.
Agree. They are treasures. I keep finding them here in the UK, and there always something I like/can use
@@Nealos101 I also love British railroading...those homely little engines charm the hell outta me...especially the ones from the early part of the 20th century...and the dirty, gritty industrial areas just ooze atmosphere...coal smoke and oil/steam...and industrial smells of all types...
