The pleasure to show you is all mine crystal.....thank you so much for your comment and for tsking a look at the video. I hope that your orchids are doing very well....thanks again and take care, Ed.
Hello again Nicole. I hope the blooms turn out to be as good as the plant looks. i will try my very best to have a good break. Thank you once again for your comment....take care, Ed.
Thank you for sharing your nice plan today I hope it flowers for you like Nina had beautiful flowers look so you got her shift there so when you come back there might be one there never know thanks for sharing head have a good holiday see you soon
If I can get three blooms on this one and the blooms look as good as Nina's then I would be more than satisfied. Thanks for taking another look at my channel Andrea........take care, Ed.
Hi Ed! Haven’t been commenting but watching videos! And finally had some time to leave some comment here… thank you for sharing you nicely growing Laelia! The wire work is just an art! I tried to copy how you do it but…..
To go back to your previous comment my perinii gets a minimum of 14 hours of strong led light every day. The wiring is a little fiddly and it's much easier to bend and straighten new growths. It's nigh impossible to make the old pseudobulbs on old plantsto stand up straight..............thank you and take care Ed.
Look at that growth, Ed 🤩🤩 well, you see it every day, but wow!! That is incredible ... one bloom, you think? I hope you get more than one 🙌🏼 thank you so much for joining me on this CareCollab 💕 have a beautiful day 🌸 and enjoy your vacation 👍🏼
The large growth is very surprising Nina, It started off as a large nubbins and that;s why I hope I'm going to get more than on bloom. Thanks for including me in your CareCollab it is much appreciated. Take care and have a lovely day. Ed.
Just give it time, plenty of light, a temp around 20-24c, not much fertilizer and not too much water. I hope it blooms for you soon......thank you and take care, Ed.
Hello Valarie. I said I only have one laelia but I have two the other one being a gouldiana which has just started growing properly after a quiet twelve months. I understand what you mean by not giving up your big plants especially when you can grow them outside.......not possible in this part of the world....4c this morning!!! I hope it warms up a little for next week......take care, Ed.
Another excellent video Ed, cheers! so you would recommend to stop fertilising once the sheaths are formed? I have two L. purpurata just in sheath. Should I switch to plain water from now on? thanks Orchid guru!
Good morning Luis. Feeding your orchids when in bud there is a great possibility that it will lead to bud blast or deformed blooms. I light feeding of phosphates before the buds have formed is acceptable. So once the buds have formed stop all feeding and use plain water for several weeks. Thank you for the visit and take care, Ed.
Hi Ed, you seem to be very successful with your Cattleya type orchids and I'm envious as they don't seem to like me 🥲. Can you tell me the purpose of the grow stones please. Do they add any calcium or anything to the roots or are they completely inert? I have started using pumice in the last few months and things seem a bit better. I was tending to use a soak method of feeding but now pour through and there are a few new roots coming now. I enjoy your videos, keep them coming 😊
good morning Carole, The only things I do with the Cattleyas is to give them as much light as I can and warmish temperatures and very light feeding. Growstones were manufactured from glass and calcium carbonate which provided calcium and gave the media an open structure. Unfortunately they are no longer manufactured. ....take care, Ed.
@@EdsOrchids thanks for the reply. I have a bag of oyster shell grit, do you think it would help provide some calcium and is it necessary do you think to improve my root growth? I am adding pumice for air circulation now.
Hi Carole. There are two thoughts on the use of oyster shell. One says that it does pass calcium onto the plants whilst the other one says that the calcium carbonate ( oyster shell ) will not. I tend to agree with the latter because calcium carbonate will only dissolve in cold water and we never give our plants cold water. There is nothing negative or positive about using it though Ed.
I'm sorry to hear that Cheryl. There are a number of reasons why this can happen. It can be too high or two low in temperatures...it can be insect problems....or it can be a genetical problem where when a plant gets a couple of years old it will decide to lose it's leaves....and there's not much you can do about it only...pray!!! Thanks Cheryl sorry I can't help you further on this subject....take care, Ed.
Buenos días, me encanta ver esas hermosas orquídeas no importa que no tengan floración.
