  • In todays video I present to you all my daily 1992 Toyota 4runner with the very sluggish 3.0 3vze. This video is a walkaround of my truck and the story behind it and what I've done to it. Hope you enjoy :P

Last year I’ve bought the same year 4Runner but with that dark red exterior, literally had to do the same repairs, engine rebuild, replacing ball joints, pitman arm, idle arm, etc. So far I love it and I dig the look you gave yours brotha 🤙🏽

Thank you so much ! 🙏🏻 I tried to give my truck more of a 90’s period look , most of my inspiration initially was from the back to the future! It took so much to get to where its at but im lovin it too but it was all worth it !

I daily drove my 98 4Runner until last year, and I am the original owner. It is now my son's daily driver.

bro you should sand that hood and clear coat it again if you haven't by now. That's all that fading is, it'll look good as new. Nice whip.

Where'd you get those side window deflectors? Also, can you post a source on how to retrofit the '91 spare tire carrier onto a newer 2nd gen.

I got the side window deflectors on Amazon , heres the link from the seller i got it from , but i think their no longer in stock. www.amazon.com/dp/B07MNV7V22?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Most of my inspiration for the tire carrier was from a youtube video i watched my self. The video is called “Tire Rack Mount Install - 2nd Gen 4runner” by Trail Benders Overland . I was able to attach my tire carrier with thick Grade 8 bolts and washers to support the tire carrier . I also used silicone for water intrusion and to prevent rust. I didn’t use rivnuts like in the video. Hope this helps !

Have you noticed any oil leaks after you rebuilt the motor?

Be careful running it without the fan shroud. That thing makes a huge difference on keeping temps down

Thank you for the tip , 3.0s definitely create alot of heat ! I had a fan shroud when i put the new engine in , but one morning it just broke out of nowhere. Will definitely put a fan shroud soon !

Is the smitty bumper made for the 4Runner or did u have the use a jeep Cherokee one??

I believe they where made for toyota back in the 80’s and early 90’s . I think the jeeps are smaller . Mine just so happened to fit my 4runner when i got it .

Running spacers behind the rims will cause bearing damage and leaks. eventually break the hub off and you will lose a tire going down the road.

Nah, maybe in the long run, or if isnt properly seated/tightened, or if the bearings are allready on the way out, but otherwise they are just like a set of wider wheels with a bigger backspacing. It makes absolutely no difference. In the long run yes, the further the wheel is out, the bigger the leverage is, and the more strain there is, but thats is still normal wear, its like replacing the bearings every 50k miles vs every 47k miles, it virtually makes no difference in the long run. This isnt an extreme setup on the wheels.
