Shel, you are my de stress from day job. I see your fingers moving paper and paint and I can feel my muscles start to relax. I watch some and usually get inspired to stop the video and do some art of my own. Thank you.
Hello Shel, Love your collage birthday cards. It's amazing how you turn scraps of paper into beautiful handmade art. Thanks for sharing. Happy birthday to your family members! Have a lovely day!
Oh Shel, these cards are WONDERFUL. You have such a creative touch. I loved both cards but my favorite was the bird! He looks so happy as he hops along the front of your card! TFS
Absolutely stunning cards! Who wouldn’t be thrilled to get a work of art like this for a birthday card. So wonderful to watch your process. Just when I think you’re done, you add another touch, then another touch and of course, those extra touches just set things off beautifully. I’m thinking of the little birds white tuft in white ink. Gorgeous.
Thank you so much Shel, what can I say? They’re both small works of art, I really really love 💕 watching you create them......They’re very lucky to have you make them something so special and different. xxx Mags
These two cards are lovely! I kind of liked them better as true abstract pieces without the bird and butterflies. The bit of music paper adds such depth. I wish it showed up more.
Love both of them Shel. Love the composition of them. I first was thinking why is she saying what every single piece of paper is and then I realized, DUH! there are probably lots of people that are either new to the paper crafting world or just never had anything to do with it so for those people, I thank you. You did a great job of explaining it all. They really turned out so cute. I have been trying to go through some of my cases of painty paper and gelli prints and ones that I doubt will be used pretty much as is, I sorted by the primary color of the paper. I kept thinking of all of your collage pieces and how doing this, hopefully would make it easier if I am trying to do something all in a similar color or shade.
It’s so frustrating that die cuts have the white border. I feel like I used to be able to buy lots of options that had no border but recently I looked thru so many die cuts on Amazon and NO borderless options. I LOVE what you did with the charcoal border around the bird! Beautiful cards.
Watching you collage is one of my favorite things to do - I learn so much - and I am just delighted to see your creative process in action. Thanks so much, Shel! Blessings to you!
My grandson's birthday is this month, but my oh my month is December. My sister in law, my daughter, my son in law, my next son in law, both my best friends and Jan 1st is my other daughter's birthday. I guess that is why I don't make Christmas cards. These are great cards, you always put scraps together so well. I am playing with scraps and index cards right now, but I am not always happy with the results. Thanks Shel, have an awesome day.
So way cool. I love that you put "your touch" on everything. These cards turned out great. I always gain inspiration from you, Shel, thank you for sharing.
Love your collage pieces. I also really like that you put a bird on one them. I just got some Tim Holtz distress crayons and I think they will be great for collage.
Shel, love your abstract collages as well as your pictorial ones! You always add your own magical touch to each project. Please pass on Happy Birthday wishes from “one of your subbies” across the world. 😘💞🇦🇺
I didn't think I would like this at all but I stuck with it and watched all the way through. I was impressed. Vintage, shabby chic, torn paper is not my thing. I tend to prefer modern, clean lines but what brought me here was my trying to figure out what the heck Tim Holtz Idea ology is all about (still don't know). And as usually the case when I search the net, one thing led to another and here I am. I am going to make a few of these (the 6 x 6 size really makes a difference) using the scraps I have. Thank you for sharing. I'll continue to watch your videos.
Awesome cards Shel!! :) Am sure they will love your cards! My older sister had a birthday yesterday ( the 15th ) That is the only one in our family lol. I will be 60 !!! GULP lol on March 1st, so it is my birthday coming up next in our family. Have a great Sunday!
Nice cards! You said something about having a white Posca pen and I got to thinking. I just bought my first paint pen (iits a Painters pen) ever and have yet to take it out and play (life happened, ugh). Is there a big difference between Posca pens and other paint pens? Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching your process!
Thank you Drea 😊 posca is an acrylic paint pen and is water soluble until dry. Most pens you find commonly are oil based paint and they can do less fun techniques. Also, the have a chemical smell. You can find a sharpie brand pen labeled ‘water based’ and lots like that one. I just love my Posca !
Hi Sally :) When I make a piece of art that is intended to last..like a canvas or wood panel to hang on the wall, I do 3 coats of spray UV safe sealer. I prefer matte. When I make a card or an art journal page, I do not seal over the top. Cards are meant to be temporary..I don't think most people keep mine. As for pages, they stick together if there is too much medium on them. Also, I do not use mod podge as it is sticky by nature and also yellows over time. When I make art journal pages I sometimes add a thin layer of beeswax furniture polish if I have a sticky page. Hope this helps.
Happy mail is when someone sends you an envelope or package in the mail full of fun artsy items to use for your art. Usually colorful and fun to receive!
Whoever receives this is lucky great cards
