Make Unique Takedown Bow with Twin Limb from leafsrping, powerful survival bow from steel no forging

- Bows can be made out of many type of materials and tools at low cost. in my previous videos, I built a few bows from old bicycle wheels . They can be as cool as bow made form PVC pipe especially when it can function as a normal bow or even can do bow fishing with it. I built one of bow with the inspiration from the Green Arrow bow, or Oneida compound bow. Before that video, I built a similar bow using four coil springs making the bow strong enough to shoot small games or do bow fishing. And I also show how I made the arrow rest from a PVC pipe. This time, I would like to present you my new take down bow with twin limbs I made from an old rusty leaf spring which I bought at the local salvage yard but this imte I didn't insert the steel limbs in PVC pipe I flattened. I. After several test shot at the target, i think one day, I should use it to do bow fishing a long with my crossbow. It's also fun for shooting this bow vs coke. The draw weight is 40lbs at 28 inches.
In this bow making process, I let the steel cool down many time with water during the grinding.The elasticity is not affeated after lots of shooting and leaving the string unstrung, there 's no bow memory or lose of draw weight.
I also did it when I tried to reduce the draw weight, originally it was around 80lbs, so grounded them thiner at the edge and thicker at the base until I got around 50lbs. it's also lots of work.

Cette fois, je voudrais vous présenter mon nouvel arc démontable à deux branches que j'ai fabriqué à partir d'un vieux ressort à lames rouillé que j'ai acheté à la casse locale, mais cette fois-ci, je n'ai pas inséré les branches en acier dans un tuyau en PVC que j'ai aplati. I. Après plusieurs essais de tir à la cible, je pense qu'un jour, je devrais m'en servir pour faire de la pêche à l'arc longue avec mon arbalète. C'est aussi amusant de tirer cet arc contre coke. Le poids de tirage est de 40 lb à 28 pouces.
Dans ce processus de fabrication d'arc, je laisse l'acier refroidir plusieurs fois avec de l'eau pendant le meulage. L'élasticité n'est pas affectée après de nombreux tirs et en laissant la corde non enfilée, il n'y a pas de mémoire d'arc ni de perte de poids.
Je l'ai aussi fait quand j'ai essayé de réduire le poids du tirage, à l'origine il était d'environ 80 livres, donc je les ai mis à la terre plus minces au bord et plus épais à la base jusqu'à ce que j'obtienne environ 50 livres. c'est aussi beaucoup de travail.

Dieses Mal möchte ich Ihnen meinen neuen Take-Down-Bogen mit zwei Wurfarmen vorstellen, den ich aus einer alten rostigen Blattfeder gemacht habe, die ich auf dem örtlichen Schrottplatz gekauft habe, aber diesmal habe ich die Stahlwurfarme nicht in ein PVC-Rohr eingesetzt, das ich abgeflacht habe. I. Nach mehreren Testschüssen auf die Zielscheibe denke ich, dass ich sie eines Tages zum Bogenfischen mit meiner Armbrust verwenden sollte. Es macht auch Spaß, diesen Bogen gegen Koks zu schießen. Das Zuggewicht beträgt 40lbs bei 28 Zoll.

I really like the arms and grip. The fit is also very good. However, the design of the horns is not good. The string should be caught at the ends of the horns and not at the base. the efficiency would be better. look at a Mongolian or Hungarian bow, how the horns are made on the ends of the bows

A few modifications that I would consider for this bow. After wrapping the twine and gluing it, I would be very tempted to wrap a thin layer of fiberglass cloth around those areas for just that little bit of added strength. For the leather wrap on the grip, I think I would have used a strip of wet rawhide pulled snug (but not TIGHT!), as it dries the rawhide will contract around the grip for a strong and tight fit. I doubt if I would have carved out quite so much from the center of the limbs. Yes the bow would be heavier, but it would also have a higher draw weight. My preference for a recurve is about 55 - 60 lbs. Beautiful work!
I can't even shoot lower weights , been shooting heavy so long lower weights hurt when I shoot them , my Daily shooter is 110# but 3 days a week shooting 140#-180# Longbows and Recurves , My most Efficient and Comfortable is 125# Hill Wesley Special

Amazing bow, but I would have used something like epoxy resin and laminated the leaf springs on using fibreglass instead of all the C.A glue.

Dude i am absolutely in love with the hollow bow arms. It looks so sleek and yet its so simple. It makes me wonder though. Wouldnt getting rid of the steel on the arms make the draw lighter and the arms strength weaken?

how did you keep thats elasticity by cooling in that way?
That is just to keep the steel of the leaf spring from overheating and losing it's temper (the springiness).

the width is 2,4 cm. You might want to make it thicker for more heavy weight.

Bueno, bonito y barato pero sera efectivo a 50 metros ? Lo minimo que deberia haber probado es a 35 metros al aire libre, claro a 6 metros es re facil y se ve potente, pero lo que importa es la utilidad de alcance y trayectoria.
Pensei a mesma coisa. Creio que uns 20cm maior o arco ficaria bom. E o teste deveria ser de no mínimo uns 30 a 40 metros. Se é um arco pra caça nenhum animal permite se aproximar tanto, a não ser que esteja doente e não posso fugir.
