The areas where they can turn their boat around is called a winding hole because back before engines they would use the help of the wind to turn around along with barge poles.
Also the grp boat that sunk was attempted to be floated but they believe the outer skin developed a hole allowing the water back in. They believe the hole came about from when the water level dropped rapidly as the keel has a slight angle so it can’t sit evenly on the bottom as it will tip to one side or the other. Those types of boats are made from fiberglass or a type of plastic and never meant to sit down on ground. @@kathyvossler4626 Thanks, I have spoken with Josh and Diane and everything I have learnt has come from them but considering I knew nothing about boats and canals a month ago I don’t think I am doing too bad especially as I can’t usually remember what I done yesterday 🤣. It is more the reconstruction of the canal that I’m interested in and that is what brought me here in the first place but I am learning the rest slowly.
