    My tip for meal prep is to make and store each component separate, I feel like it helps the food taste more fresh! I just assemble when I'm ready to eat! Also, as a single person, I'll make veg and my main entrée which will last 2-3 days and fill in the meals when I'm not in the mood to eat the meal prep. I love the effort!!! keep it up! :)

    I saw a UA-camr "Evelyn from the Internet" I believe she had some great tips on meal prep..she said prep your ingredients..not whole meals cause you may change your mind during the week...like prep all the stuff that needs chopped and takes time... cause if you have an air fryer everything else that's your main won't take long and it's fresh.

    I love your meal prep ideas. I usually make individual component, such as a curry that I can have over 2 - 3 meals, a couscous salad (for quick lunches) , a stir fried veggies. Then, I can mix and match when I am ready to eat. I hope that makes sense. Overnight oats are the best. I make the base - oats, chia seeds, cinnamon and milk. Then, in the morning, my kids can just add whatever they want to eat or take to school for lunch. The current favorite is peanut butter, honey, strawberries, granola and raisin.

    Hi Weylie, just couple things you might wanna try with meal prepping
    1. Amazon has garlic chopper tools that are LIFE CHANGING because i also hateeee cutting garlic but looovee to eat them
    2. If you try “one sheet/pan recipes” will save you sooo much time. Because you can throw your protein and veggies all in one pan and throw in the oven, thats it! :)
    Good luck!

    Don't cover your meal containers til after the food is fully cooled! It'll spoil faster. A trick that helps when prepping or just cooking in general is to cut all your ingredients and have everything ready first, and then start cooking. If you cut one thing, start cooking one thing, go back to cutting, cook again, it'll take forever.

  • @Msskellington12
    @Msskellington12 2 роки тому +6

    Just a little suggestion, like what everyone here saying, try to prep the ingredients so you can just cook them fast. Like parboil the broccoli, cut your tofu into chunks, I'll just do everything that requires knives and a chopping board beforehand so when it's time to cook, you can just stir-fried stuff and it's fast and way healthier than eating a few days old foods. there is also some food that you shouldn't put together in a box as it might cause each other to spoil.
    also, you put the potato in salt water for the same reason you put apples in them, to prevent blackening and keep them fresher for longer.

    Unsolicited advice here: For the potatoes it best to boil them first and then add them to the skillet. Add lemon juice on your fish as a marinade. I love meal preparation and the satisfaction of chopping food up. It’s a form of therapy bc I’m putting the energy in my food that my family eat

    Although I'm not into meal prepping because I'm good at cooking healthy meals. I snack prep because I don't have the healthiest relationship with snacks. So for the week I will wash and cut up carrots, celery, and roasted peppers to grab from the fridge when I'm craving a snack. I also make dairy free French onion dip to have with them and it makes snacking so much better.

    When I meal prep I just prep veggies like dice them so I can make quick meals each day. Dice some fruit raw carrots to snack on. Gluten free crackers with peanut butter etc breakfast usually have simple meals like granola with fruit, toast and peanut butter and banana or avocado toast with boiled egg. You can prep eggs and leave im fridge to eat cold with salads etc. When I prepped full meals ahead I got v bored of eating same meals and found the flavour to go bad after a day or so. You will figure out what works for you anyway 🥰

    Hi Weylie! What I do for my salmon is marinate it 30 minutes max, but flip it over at the 15 minute mark. I forgot where I read that salmon should be marinated for 30 minutes only since it is different than other meats. I'm sure you can find it somewhere. But with this method, my salmon comes out perfect every time :) hope this helps!

    i feel like in this case the meal prepping is for not succumbing to take out rather than saving time but meal prep in general just takes a lot of time. perhaps with more experience you could cook a bunch of stuff together for different meals, like using the oven to bake stuff for lunch and dinner

    Weylie I love your videos. I've been watching since your high school days lol. I feel meal prep is exhausting too. I find it's easier and faster to utilize all your cookware and equipment. For example, cook the veggies in the pan while the meat is in the oven or air fryer simultaneously. Hope that helps! ❤️

    Next time prep all veggies for all meals at once :) helps just a weeee bit lol.. you could have also cooked the tomatoes and onion on one side of the stove while the potatoes were cooking on the other side. It tends to make life easier when you are just doing everything at once instead of doing one meal at a time ☺️
