I purchased this album in 1979 and it is still in my possession and will be until my daughter inherits it!! I'm the same age as Michael. How lucky can a man be to be have the greatest entertainer of all time as the soundtrack to his life! Thanks for everything Michael!!🥰
I have 8 crates of albums. My kids don't understand why the seventies are the greatest decade of music. I might just give to someone who would enjoy the era.
The decorative nuances and breathing embellishments act as if some sort of punctuation to the melody. Relishes locked into the rhythm so incredibly fantastic it’s like its natural sounding or as you suggested ‘pure’. It’s sparse enough to be minimalist yet in a sophisticated enough manner to be undeniably recognizable as his own sound. I find it interesting to hear other musicians sing the same songs as him and while there’s plenty who can really sing and arguably equally ‘pure’, I haven’t heard anyone apply what Michael does that takes R&B or Pop songs to the epitome of what’s possible vocally. I’m not a singer but I can appreciate the guy definitely has developed this ‘instrument’ called voice to what became a timeless and universally enjoyable celebrated experience that I doubt will ever be forgotten by mankind. Bach like status if ya know what I mean. People be diggin this 300, 3000 to 30,000 years from now I can totally imagine.

Totally agree with you. I love Thriller to pieces, but Off the Wall should have as big as Thriller or bigger. However, Off the Wall was his first album, his voice was changing, he was unsure about going solo, and he wanted to make sure his first album was great. A lot of pressure at that time!

Totally agree with you. I love Thriller to pieces, but Off the Wall should have as big as Thriller or bigger. However, Off the Wall was his first album, his voice was changing, he was unsure about going solo, and he wanted to make sure his first album was great. A lot of pressure at that time!
