EVERY 68RFE Transmission NEEDS This!

  • I was tired of replacing my transmission case after cracking it twice within 3 months of each other. Broke in the middle the first time, replaced it, put on a stronger BD diesel pan, and it decided to break at the BELL HOUSING the second time.
    There was no brace that mitigated this issue at the bell housing, so I build my own brace that fixes what no other company has done, yet. Is this the strongest case brace ever built for the 68RFE? I will vote yes!
    Unfortunately, I did lose some video that actually showed how I built the brace.
    Please leave constructive criticism in the comments below, as I am leaps and bounds from my potential as a video creator. I will continue to get better every video.
    Looking forward to the next video!

    Okay, wait a minute. Maybe you should start by explaining exactly how you keep breaking them? That would be nice to know so that maybe we can make sure that we don’t duplicate.😂

      @@noneya61 found out my driveshaft was the main culprit. Bad u-joint was causing significant oscillations, eventually cracking the transmission case. No issues since the brace and new rear driveshaft.

      I don't blame you. You ever figure out what the cause for breakage was? Bad driveshaft, u-joints, or rear end?

      @@gearheadfabworks the mechanic my brother had took it to out in a bigger converter and I’m sure that the main cause. I feel it shuddering when I drive. It was recently rebuilt a few days ago but it’s having an issue again so it’s going back to the mechanic for a diag.

      Oof! That's a huge bummer. I've had too many problems with others working on my stuff. I've been fortunate enough to learn how to build most of a car. But costs way more time. It's a big trade off. Hopefully your rig is back up and running soon!

    My 2010 2500 trans had no issues at 112k but my 2018 shifts a lot different but not issues yet as it is just a shop truck no towing

      Yeah, I'm under the impression that most of the vibration came from my driveshaft. It found the weak point, which just so happened to be the transmission case.... Twice. Lol

    Okay. I'm afraid to ask..how did you break your Trans case TWICE with a stock cummins?
    Heavy towing? Drag racing? Wheeling? Do you have a build video for the truck? Thx

    • @gearheadfabworks
      @gearheadfabworks  Рік тому +1

      Occasional heavy towing... But really, it was a bad rear drive shaft. Caused too much vibration and the weakest link is the transmission case. No longer an issue.

    Moderately worried cause i have a 3rd gen with a supposedly "built" 68rfe and a 200hp motor build..

    • @gearheadfabworks
      @gearheadfabworks  Рік тому

      It wasn't necessarily the power that broke the trans case. It was a bad rear drive shaft. The truck is so heavy, I didn't even notice the vibrations. But there was enough vibration to cause flexing in the transmission. For some reason, I couldn't tell their rear u joints were that bad the first time I replaced the case. Lol
