If you are too young to know who Brett Favre is, you need to immediately stop this video and go watch this man’s highlights and micd up moments. He’s the reason I fell in love with nfl football. The Gunslinger.
I truly dislike the Packers but damn watching brett favre play is just amazing. Probably the most entretaining QB of all time no doubt. That dude played a very exciting brand of football, not only the long balls, but the scrambles & everything he did was fun tu watch
I was fortunate enough to see his entire career. He was my favorite quarterback after Joe Montana retired.
I'm twelve and I know who he is, I don't know how anybody can't know who he is. (Unless you're dead of course.)
@@jpmnky I’m 30 now, but I was 12 years old when he played the game after his dad died and I still remember it like it was yesterday. It was the most incredible thing I’ve seen done on a football field. To go out there and play is one thing, but to play the way he did that game is just insane. Truly a legend.
I'm young and love Brett Favre, so I agree if you haven't seen this guy you've been missing out on a legend
What was Favre's darkest secret that the nfl wants me to forget? Was more of a recap of favre's last years.
thought this was going to be about his painkiller addiction
@@ek9589 That's likely something that Brett himself would like to forget. Addiction is wicked, and if you've ever experienced it, you understand what I mean.
As a life-long Vikings fan, it wasn't easy seeing Favre in a Vikings uniform after so many years as an opponent. His first year as a Viking was magical and he definitely didn't play as old as he really was. I'm happy that he has mended his relationship with the Packers although I know some Packer fans that are still upset with him playing for the Vikings.
As a Packer fan, after Favre stuck it to the fans and tried to sabotage the Packers, I'd have been happy if Favre never came back to the Packers and retired as a Viking. Let them retire his number.
Piss on him. I was sick of him in 2005 and 2006 when he sandbagged the team over Mike Sherman getting demoted and fired.
I though Favre and his chronic choking was a perfect match for the Vikings and their post season curse. 2009 ended exactly the way I predicted it would.
Too bad it's illegal for the Vikings to do well defensively post season 😭
@James Andrews Favre was pissed that Sherman was demoted and fired for mismanaging the team. For drafting guys like Punter BJ Sander, Ahmad "oven mitts" Carrol, "too small" Jamal Adams and signing "Joe Johnson for $3.2 mil per sack. Favre sandbagged the team to get cut in '05 and '06. When that didn't work, after he sandbagged the Packers by ignoring a wide open 1st down throw to a TE and threw a late weak pass to a covered Driver to choke away the NFCCG at home, he fake retired.
He was never asked to retire. He was asked what his plans were so the team could make roster and contract decisions. He fake retired with the plan of waiting until camp started and then coming back to put the Packers over the cap and roster limits. Thompson had room on the cap for Favre's unplanned 12 mil, and got a roster exemption, so they didn't have to cut him and he could come back. That is when Favre proved it was all a scam to break his contract by demanding a trade. The comeback wasn't about playing, it was about getting out of a contract.
When he was playing for the Jets, he went to the rest of the NFC North and offered to decode Mccarthy's playbook. The Bears said no, but the Lions accepted the help. We know he was already talking to Chilly and Bevil in Minnesota because they admitted it. The fake retirement thing was probably Chilly's idea in the first place.
Favre choked in the post season whenever the game was on the line and the ball was in his hands. The Vikings deserved him and in 2009, they got just that.
Favre isn't even the 4th best QB in Packer history. Anyone who really knows Packer history well would tell you that. Just because you were an impressionable child when Fave was playing, doesn't mean you remember him accurately.
Yeah, especially since he kicked the Packers' ass. Both times!
@@lovedc4ever678 I thought it was a fair trade.
The 2 losses by the Packers, that didn't keep them out of the playoffs, helped build a feeling of inevitability and destiny for Vikings fans. They were sure it was finally the year they were going to win it all. They could smell Super Bowl glory in the air.
Every win against a bad opponent, every game that turned on a dropped Favre INT reinforced the expectation of finally getting the ring... only to have their hearts sink into their stomachs as they realize Favre did it again. Another soul crushing interception on a stupid play.
Only from such lofty heights is the dull thud of your hopes and dreams hitting the ground so satisfying.
It was indeed a magical season.
I believe still he would have won the super bowl with his first year in Minnesota
Say if he had randy moss over there 🤔🤔🤔what you think would happened then
The reason the Vikings are purple is from choking
That game was basically rigged. Not only was there Bountygate, but just look at the calls the refs made and didn't make.
Yeah he threw that pick but it should have never come to that.
Yeah, we all wanted that fantasy story. But it didnt happen. Thats the beauty of ALL sports. and you are all correct. He threw them, It happened, its done.
Brett Farve is still a boss. Lets not get away from that here.
I mean.. when was the last Vikings SB win?
Signing with the Vikings was not "The ultimate act of betrayal." If he had signed with the Bears, THAT would have been unforgivable. And (I have to say it!) unbearable.
He thought about it
Skol
As a Vikings fan, how do u still consider the bears your biggest rival? They’ve sucked for 40 years.
@@noyou113 been to a Superbowl and multiple NFC championships unlike Minnesota so nice try
@@WeHaveTheRansom vikings have been to 4 Super Bowls and 14 nfc championship games. Bears have only been to 9 nfc championship games. Sure the bears had that one season where they won it, but that was 40 years ago. Vikings have like the 7th highest winning percentage ever and 6th most playoff appearances.
And now he has stolen millions from people in need to build a volleyball court
I thought Favre looked good in Vikings purple. From what I remember, he had wanted to go there to begin with but the packers refused to trade him to a divisional rival. for obs reasons.
Love to see the Favre content. I've been a huge Favre fan and Packers fan since I was a kid. We've been very fortunate in Green Bay to have back to back legends behind center.
Favre was the reason i loved the packers as a kid.
I dunno if its fortunate or unfortunate, those 2 and only 2 SBs to stand for is actually pretty bad in my book. You shouldve got at least 5 SBs from both these tremendous QBs.
and who else has really done that much better in that time? besides tom brady
@@pika9752 There's someone who's working on it... 3 years, 2 SBs, 1 ring, is pretty good right?
My favorite Brett Favre performance will always be Something About Mary. 🤣
Is that hair gel?
Yes 👍🏻 same here, I concur 👏🏻 👏🏻
😂😂😂
Was I the only person that thought this was gonna be about the cell phone text message scandal he was in?
Well we all know that this definitely was not the worst decision he ever made
People don’t give Aaron Rodgers enough credit, he was doing everything Patrick Mahomes was doing before Patrick Mahomes just without all the media attention. The scrambling with that crazy arm strength and play making ability. It just sucks he’s loyal to a front office that never put the pieces around him he needed.
He is an idiot and has just been lucky with jump balls at the end of games. That's all the credit he deserves.
Hes had some really horrible safties though. and he was never the harlem globetrotters of football. No one did left handed passes as a righty before mahomes. Farve and manning did a no look pass once. and farve threw a TD with one foot on the ground. I disagree, Rodgers wasn't doing the mahomes thing.
@@beverslayer that was an excellent way to prove how butt hurt you are.
I think you mean Favre. Favre was doing everything Mahomes was doing, probably before Mahomes was even born. LOL.
@@lovedc4ever678 Favre was throwing picks better than anyone.
Brett Favre was absolutely amazing for those 3 years he got MVP under Mike Holmgren. When Holmgren left, we still saw flashes of greatness, no doubt, but Holmgren got the very best out of Brett Favre, especially in those 3 years. That was amazing football to see and the most historical place in the NFL... Green Bay
Same thing is happening with Pat Mahomes now
@@Watchingvideoslikeu It remains to be seen how long he can hold up
@@wblake22 remember Brett Farve abused painkillers and became addicted. I’m sure that aided in him having a long career
@@Watchingvideoslikeu he didn’t abuse. He use to take a lot of hard hits. One of the reasons they call him the iron man. He played through a lot of pain and became addicted to them. I don’t think they pain killers prolonged his career. He had the heart and really loved the game of football.
@@wblake22 the off-season before winning the super bowl he went to rehab for his pain killers addiction
Anyone who watched the Minnesota Vikings vs Saints need to realize that Favre did not lose that game. Yes he threw the interception at the end but the vikings were killing the saints all game until Adrian Peterson fumbled a handful of times and whoever that receiver was that fumbled I believe at the 10 maybe 20 yard line.
Favre will always be a top 3 player to me because I remember when he threw that touchdown pass to Andre Rison in the super bowl at the start. It was so magical for my 7 year old brain. Lol my dad even to this day on packer game day will still say, "Put FAVRE on the field dammit."
I thought this was going to be about the cell phone
The man, the myth, the legend aka Brett from the bayou, is from my hometown in the Sip 228! Folks can hate him but no matter what, he's our hometown hero and we love him! #4!
People DO NOT hate Brett Favre. I still think we should have kept him and won another superb owl with "Country" in 08/09 instead
I would say in general the overall consensus is that he's loved. But he's received his fair share of hate over the years as well. I'm biased but he was the most fun NFL qb to play the game. Wish he would have won more than one ring tho.
I graduated from Hancock in ‘84 with Brett’s brother Scott.
So Aaron Rogers is 11-9 in the playoffs and Brett landed up with a 13-11 playoff record and both won a Superbowl many many years ago. "Favre's 12-10, in the NFL playoffs, with one Superbowl ring, wasn't a good season ticket sales pitch". It sounds like we are at the Exact same threshold in Rogers career, including the drama. So are you pushing for Love to start next year? I don't care either way but it is amazing that they share such a mirror image career at Green Bay so far.
If you're pretending like Favre didn't have insanely legendary offensive coaches with Holmgram, Reid, Gruden etc etc while Rodgers had shitty ass McCarthy who can't call plays then you're insane
John Fox took 2 separate super bowls, don't blame coaches so quick
@@ThirteenAmp No, I'm not pretending anything and I have no clue who coached either of them besides when they made it to a Superbowl (the only time I ever recall watching a Green Bay game). I just noticed how they have such similar records in Green Bay at this point. 1 Superbowl win each and a slightly above average playoff record, with Favre having two more games. If Rogers goes 1 and 1 in the playoffs this year they will be exactly the same and about the same age. If that 'isn't a good season ticket sales pitch' for Favre then why would it be for Rogers? That is all I was pointing out.
@@Brian-dh9lp There are quotes, I'm just quoting exactly what Mike said in the video. Maybe I worded my original post poorly, but I was just pointing out how close Favre and Rogers stats are at the same point of their careers with a back-up that they drafted waiting in the wings with a low salary. Or another way to say it is, GBay moved on from a very productive Favre, so why wouldn't they move on from Rogers? That would be very interesting for me, but maybe Love isn't lighting it up in practice like Rogers was? I don't know so I was asking.
It's funny how Brett Farve's Jet season was ended by a former Jet, Chad Pennington.
That might be the first time I've heard someone pronounce the "j" in Majkowski
The Vikings are not Greenbay’s biggest rival just cuz Wisco and UM are rivals. The bears are. (even if it hasn’t rly looked like a rivalry recently)
From the Vikings perspective they are, but I agree from the Packers perspective the Bears are the biggest ribal.
I appreciate the video bro!! Not many people talk about favre anymore thanks!!
wow been a packer fan since 96, didn't know about his car wreck, good information you dug up, great video!
Well, aside from being an interception machine, he also stole millions of dollars from Mississippi welfare program....which is absolutely pathetic and disgusting.
I'm not fu@king leaving!! 🤣😂 your killing me mike!
Should of won it all with Minnesota. The NFL had other plans for a certain dirty franchise. That franchise still deserves more heartbreak than they've recently received
The Vikings have a long history of post season disappointment, almost like they were cursed or something. Losing 4 Super Bowls, Gary Anderson etc.
Going out and getting a QB with the most post season chokes in the history of the NFL is kind of asking for it. When the season was on the line and the ball was in Favre's hands, you knew he was going to throw a pick.
It ended exactly as I predicted. I thought they deserve each other.
Should *have
@@TheDizzleHawke "Should've" would also be correct.
I think that is the origin of the confusion for most people. They hear it as "should of" instead of the contraction. If they have never seen it written, they may not understand what they are hearing.
Much like the confusion between "their" and "they're".
@@ihcterra4625 naw. It’s just bad grammar.
I like these documentary videos, keep it up
I’m sure someone else mentioned this, but just in case, it was Tracy Porter who intercepted Favre, not Malcolm Jenkins. I mainly remember this because he also picked off Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl right after this.
Dope video though!!!
“Less than 2 months after the accident and 2 hand fulls of Vicodin”
He left that part out.
you changed your intro back to the old one, love it
I can think of one song that sums up Brett Favre the retirment years, the Dennis Leary classic "Asshole" 🤣
Regardless of Mike's video, I have a lot of respect for the man named Brett Favre. He was the toughest signal caller during my years of playing football and following the top league. It was special to watch him succeed in a league with several gun slingers.
somebody like this one so Brett, another guy, and myself can buy a hat for the league's sake.
True information about Brett Favre: ua-cam.com/video/fsO9GKEFJmk/v-deo.html
Where the hell did you find that photo of Aaron Rodgers???! lmaooooo “good luck sucker”
Tracey Porter picked Farve in that game, not Malcolm Jenkins
Brett Favre was NOT the Aaron Rodgers before Aaron Rodgers… Brett Favre has the NFL Interception record and Aaron Rodgers is the most accurate QB of ALL TIME
Mike always on just dropped a video dropped another salute
As a Packers fan, Great work.
What I liked about Brett Favre was when he signed and played for the Vikings ,he gave his all, he played against New Orleans with an ankle that other people wouldn't even try to walk on, he wasn't a fake or a phony
Bret played a year with the Jets, I don't know if that is a dark secret but most fans have indeed forgot about it.
Whats good Mikero?
Don mah kowski , i thought you said mitch kowski ,😆 🤣 😂
Let gooo Mike keep it up 🔥🔥🔥
5:50 did he mean to put a Vikings clip of him
Love your video
You forgot to mention that there was a clause in his trade to the jets, that if they trade him to minnesota, they would have to send the packers 4 first round draft picks
It’s crazy how similar Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers are
I have an Atlanta Falcons Brett Favre jersey....bootleg, from South Korea, though LoL @4:52
I can’t believe that you came from 13.7k when I started watching you, it’s really insane
Lowkey these NFL stories (especially Favre’s) are better than what we see in the NBA
Dude.. I live in Wisconsin. I'm a die hard Favre fan.. Do not say "all the fans were sick of his retire/unretire drama. I would say MOST of us wanted him to return and we were pissed at Green Bay for letting him walk. It wasn't until he threw the purple nurple on that I was over and done.
We all love him again here in Wisconsin BTW...
Well, he hasn't worn the purple nurple for quite a while and I would say he paid the price for putting that on. Packer fans need to respect the price he paid to keep playing at a high level.
Facts
I love these videos
Do a video on his current affairs please
It was so weird seeing him in the falcons “too legit to quit” mini doc.
When watching this all happen back in the day I wondered if the retirement stuff was to avoid NFL drug testing. Specifically if he was roiding up to heal then making a comeback. I would do that to keep doing what I love.
No one in da U.P. or Wisconsin could ever forget this.
Great video!! The person who intercepted Farve wasn’t Malcom Jenkins, it was Tracy Porter!! Regardless, bravo!! 🤘🏽
God damn it I always get those 2 mixed up on that Saints team
thank you bro, i was looking for this comment
in back to back games for the super bowl W. WHO DAT!!
Also Favre threw two interceptions that game
We called him Mr excitement - never a dull
Moment
Brett played with a Hangover, my guy!!
so what is his darkest secret.. i dont get it
I don’t even want to finish this video about Brett Favre. He was an amazing player and I have so much respect for this man and that’s because of what I’ve seen. He is my favorite Packer and will always be awesome to me.
The day he signed on as a viking and my kids being born where the best days of my life. It still makes me smile.
This was a awesome video! I learned a lot more bout Brett Favre
Make a video on the bounty gate
You should talk about the RGIII coming out with a book talking about his experience with sexual harassment at Washington
The most impressive thing about Favre to me, was his durability. Dude got into an ATV wreck, lost 1/3rd of his intestines and played a week or so later.
"Mitch"-kowski. HAHAHA!
Mikerophone...not from Wisconsin, Chicago or Minnesota...
I live 45 minutes away from Hattiesburg Mississippi
Oh god I remember the favrewatch on nfl network
I just started watching the video, are you going to talk about his opiod addiction ? He was popping painkillers like tic-tacs while he played for the Packers.
That’s what I thought it was about at first, then I thought it would be about the sexting.
Toughest QB ever. Brett played when defenders were allowed to rip a QB’s head off. Something “pampered “ QB’s don’t have to worry about.
No truer words were spoken!!!! One tuff dude!!
Clean outro fam
You should do a video about the "shortest" debacle of Farves career 🤣
Great football player that stole millions from poor people smh
Talking about the auto accident, at the 3:20 mark they said he landed behind the backseat...In a 4 door sedan, that would’ve been in the trunk...
5:45 Mahomes isn’t dramatic his family is
I love Favre. He was my first favorite football player when I was a wii little sport. But….. his retirement back and forth, his signing with a rival team, and his post-career anti-football crusade despite playing until his damn 40’s have all really, really soured me on the guy in the last decade. (Little over but still).
I wish him the best. He was fun to watch and I’ll never forget him as long GOD will permit me. But my goodness, the man is so frustrating.
He was so good with Minny that one NFC championship game he gave it his all against the bounty hunted New Orleans
Brett Favre is the man who made me a Packers fan from Texas. 😆 🤣
That Favre Vikings season was amazing
Well, to make a long story short. I know everything about Brett Favre because the first time I remember seeing him sling a football as a Packer, I said "There's the next John Elway". My NFL hero since 1983-1984 and whom I credit with my love of the NFL. So....there isn't much more you can tell me. First John Elway and then Brett Favre, made me believers in the NFL and I am so dang glad they did!
Regardless of what happened, he’s one of the greatest QBs to play the game
Exactly. And time has made all that post 2007 stuff not matter all that much.
@@TheTillmanSneakerReview Well, I hope I live to see the QB that can break Farve's consecutive start stat. I'm 55 and if I live to be 95, I don't think I ever will. Favre held tons of NFL stats for years. Stats are meant to be broken. Especially nowadays but it was tough breaking lots of his.
No dislikes. Nice, this is a rarity for YT videos now days. Good work as always Mike

The intersection that he threw in the NFL Championship game let's not Malcolm Jenkins it was Tracy Porter from the New Orleans Saints
I too want to hear about the contro versy lol
tracy porter caught that interception on brett for the saints game bro, tracy also caught the one peyton threw in the end zone 💯

It was Tracey Porter that picked off Favre not Jenkins
It sure was my friend #WhoDat...something we dont get to say alot nowadays 😔
@@andreamicucci2396 yeah the Vikings owns the saints now
He played because he loved the game and yes he wanted to beat his old team, his battle with Vicodin and his many come back victories, he had an amazing career
The master of the shovel pass
I never noticed how much a young Brett Favre looks like a younger Canelo Alvarez lol
Good video
16:52 Tracy Porter* good sir
The actual facts for Bret's final your done in GB was this. Packers played the Giants in the playoffs. In overtime Bret threw up a duck, it looked like anyone could get it, nice and high. The pass was intercepted. Giants ran three plays got five yards and then kicked a field goal and won. Apparently after right the game McCarthy went nuts and told Bret he was done in GB. From my understating Bret was told not to throw the ball. The weather was at least ten below and the Giants had more fight. I was at the game. If you watch Bret's final GB I'm retiring speech go look at his wife and see who she is staring at. She was pissed. Have a good one.
Turn on the subtitles at 14:11
It says "to keep red fart retired"
Has a lifelong Packers fan, it's 62 years old I was kind of pissed when he went to the Vikings. But forgive and forget he'll always be a Packer !
You nailed saying “controversy” this time, good shit man
What about how the falcons traded him to the packers!
Time out buddy the ultimate betrayal would've been the bears. The packers bears are the Lakers Celtics n Yankees red Sox of the NFL
What was the darkest secret?
