I am sooo pumped to hear about the 11 minute rule. In my screenplay, I need to get the reader to page 11 where the hook gets set. The 1st 10 pages are necessary backstory that IMHO would suffer if done as a flashback.

question for Shane or anyone else with some insight... I'm curious why it wasn't possible to transcode and sync Double Threat yourselves? Why send to Egypt ?

Great question (sorry, just now seeing this). We had 2 AE's scheduled locally in LA. Sadly, one's mother died and the other's father within 2 days of COVID. Hollywood had just re-opened for business, and with having such a micro budgeted film, we had agreed on rates for the massive transcode/sync and prep for edit. Because no one had worked for so long, the starting offers were WAY too much. We found an American who was stuck in Egypt visiting family when the lockdown happened. He gladly took what we had and did the work in Egypt and didn't miss a beat. He's become my AE now that he's back in the states. It delayed us a few weeks, but he did a great job.

What are the most expensive budget items in bringing a film (outside the marvel universe - I.e. for your tribe) to the screen?

Too many people, especially in low budget situations, put all their emphasis on the story. While story is important, it's only one factor in what keeps someone's attention to watch a movie. If it looks like crap, it's going to be crap no matter how good the story. If it sounds like crap, its crap. If the actors act like they are reading their lines from a script, it's crap. Period.
