Because Cyrus in his videos except the Chat Blanc video, shows us time and time again how problematic the main ship is. Of course it would sound cursed hearing him genuinely thinking the love square was good.
They should've started Gabriel out as a sympathetic villain who just wanted his wife back so things could back to normal and his son could have a mom again, so they should've wrote in scenes where he felt guilty about his actions but then soon after he starts justifying his choices. Then as time goes on and he keeps losing, he starts becoming more desperate and starts caring less and less about hurting others. On top of that, maybe his misuse of the miraculous causes him to slowly lose himself to madness. So this slow descent into madness + his desperation causes him to use any method he can, even if it means akumatizing and hurting his own son. Actually seeing him start out as a father who does truly care for his son slowly lose his mind, instead of just inferring would've made him a way more interesting villain.

I totally agree with the Gabriel part. That man was SO out of character in this episode ! I feeled so betrayed because he’s my second favorite character behind Adrien. The reason why I love this character ? Season 2. Litteraly Season 2. « The Collector » made me love him and when in Queen Wasp, he was ready to give up because he wanted to keep Adrien safe was amazing. Because we see in that moment a not completely unforgivable vilain but in Cat Blanc…yeah.
Yeah like...when they get him right, it's very good. Like overall he's not...a good father but he does show that he at least cares for the safety of his child. I'll agree that it feels...out of place for him to just take advantage of his sons own negative emotions seeing how he usually doesn't like it when his son is involved in any way with the villains like in style queen or something.
Fun fact : It was « The Collector » that made me a fan of the show (I liked the show in S1 but I wasn’t a fan). The reason it because I was so shocked back in 2017 when it was revealed that Gabriel is Hawkmoth. Basically, I’m a big fan of the show…because of Gabriel. Yeah🗿
One of the things that bothered me about the episode was that Gabriel was acting severely out of character....I expected some kind of reaction to him finding out that his son was Cat Noir....But he acted like he already knew this....Also, having the episode from Mari's perceptive was a bad choice....It should been focused more on Cat....But Cat blank still is a scary villain...

If you can ignore the fact that Marinette is a creepy stalker girl for a second, the Adrinette scenes are actually very sweet and shows they could work together well. Y'know... if you forget she's a creepy stalker girl.
But that chemistry is totally unbelievable if they hardly show it before hand. Adrien and Marinette hardly know each other, and barely talk. But in these types of episodes, it works just because it does.

@Jeff i think what people actually point as a problem both are somewhat bad, Marinate being the worse though in my opinion but one is showed unable to do bad and therefor her actions are painted just innocent and normal and the other is shoved to the corner with all the "bullies" being there for the solid reason of just... being there and working as some stupid comparison in some very specific and limited moments to make the hero looks better...
You know, 'Chat Blanc' could've been a great episode... if it was a two-parter. The reason why I was never fond of this episode because I felt that everything was rushed in it. Bunnix speedran through the Adrienette moments. Gabriel didn't have a realistic reaction to finding out that his son is Chat Noir, and don't even get me started on how he smacked his own son like a golf ball and sent him flying across Paris. Heck, we didn't even know HOW the heroes found out where HM's hideout is without either one of them realizing who HM is until he called CN by his real name! One thing that I liked about the episode is that Chat Blanc himself was a scary and a very powerful akuma, probably the most powerful one to date. But of course, guess how Ladybug defeats him? By manipulating his feelings. Wow. Just wow. But, despite me not liking 'CB' that much, I must say that it's a very good excuse for as to why LB can't share many secrets with CN. But other than a nightmare in one episode, Ladybug never told anyone about CB. Not Alya, and not Su-Han. Instead, she goes ahead and gaslights Su-Han, which makes her look like a massive hypocrite. These bait-and-switch episodes have to stop. All what happens in them is that the reveal occurs, Gabriel somehow finds out, akumatizes Adrien, everything goes downhill and then someone uses some time travel shenanigans to 'fix' the mess. Which makes it seem that HM will never win.
That last bit... HM may never win, but LB has never beaten him yet. They have never come close to finding him and taking his Miraculous. It's just a prolonged, episodic 1st season.

In one of the new episodes, they attempted to do a racism message, but failed spectacularly due to the bad writing. Honestly a show with writing like this should never try something so important. Also I did used to find Gabriel sympathetic, I didn't agree with his actions and methods,but I could understand where he was coming from. This episode however, was a big part of me no longer considering him sympathetic. It was mostly season three that made me no longer consider him sympathetic.
@@lily.0317 the episode is called Qilin (which I believe is the name of a mythological creature). Basically, Marinette and her mom were going somewhere (don't remember where) and Marinette got off the bus real quick because she wanted to buy her mom something for mother's day. Marinette had her mom's purse because she forgot to bring money. Anyway Marinette was supposed to get back on the bus,but she took too long and missed it. At the next stop some bus inspector or something singled her out and asked to see Marinette's moms ticket, which Marinette had. She told him this and he accused her of lying. He asked for identification, which Marinette also had. So at the next stop (where Marinette was supposed to meet her) she was arrested by that one cop that is always shown (Roger,I think his name is and he was acting extremely out of character, but that's besides the point). The cops were acting extremely hostile to her for no reason whatsoever. This was,to me at least,meant to be a racism message because only Sabine (Marinette's mom) was asked if she had a ticket and no one else was asked. The cop's treatment of her also very much seemed like a racism message type of thing. The way they went about it was pretty poorly done,especially since this cop was way out of character (could have easily just made it a cop we've never seen) Anyway I recommend watching the episode yourself, I did NOT do a very good job explaining this.
I think they should’ve focused on the fact that he’s akumatized because of his dead mother being found in the basement/his dad is a mass murderer/ and less because of “their love” they were way more important things He is one of my favorite akumatized villains. He had the best motive, coolest powers, and hella interesting

I like this episode purely because it did something different. Almost all the other episodes did the exact same format with different villains, but Cat Blanc was very refreshing. Edit: Oh damn you already said that 🤷♀️
Time travel is extremely hard and confusing concept and even competent writers often fail to properly execute it. And when writers of Miraculous, who are mediocre at best try to do it... Well, it doesn't go well.
I agree with you on Cat Blanc's design. Considering his circumstance, it's better than the fanarts of purple eyes and keeping his blonde hair. The white hair and pale skin, makes him look so dead inside. like a vampire.
i agree, cat blanc is probably my favorite character with how his story should have , probably on par with felix with how competent he is which isn't saying much but still pretty more competent by a large margin I somewhat think of cat blanc as the strange supreme of miraculous, Evil version of mainstream heroes that witness losing their loved ones and even accidentally destroying their worlds while trying to fulfill their goals causing both to lose everything they love and know.
A fan service episode? Maybe. Messy time paradox rules that don’t make sense? Definitely. But it’s still enjoyable to see “evil version” of our favorite characters.
I felt so insulted when Adrien/Chat Noir only had ONE RANDOM EPISODE dedicated to him. The concept of Chat Blanc is good enough to be a season finally. Especially when a part if a season finally was dedicated to an evil ladybug. We all know this but I'm going to say it. Fanfiction did it better.
Actually Chat Blanc was gonna be 45 minutes or an hour long but the TV studios didn't approve of it. In this episode we were suppose to see Chat Blanc kill Ladybug in a different way & was gonna be darker. It was gonna come out earlier but they had to rewrite the script so many times to please the studios to air it. This is the same for other episodes too & the NY Special was gonna be 2 hours long. I heard news that 1 day we'll finally get the long NY special. I just can't wait til this whole series is over so someone or another company can reboot it the right way! I hope you can do a video talking about the Quantic Kids & the original storyline with your opinion on how it was gonna go
I find that hard to believe. Sounds like a lazy excuse for the bad writing and honestly there isnt a certain to say the “og” episode idea would have been written Any better.
Unrelated but anyone watched risk? It was satisfying to watch these guys act normal for once and have some explanation for their weird behavior. I mean some of the dialogue was laughably inconsistent with how they normally behave, but if that's the price to pay, I'm willing to cut some slack. Also did anyone else find it rushed or at least too quick. The plot finally moves forward but this could've *easily* been a three part special for me.

(It could be taken down soon as I've seen that happen with many YT channels who try this and I think that's what happened to one part of the episode which isn't available, although it's less than 3min long and didn't make me feel like I missed much context. I think it was a Marinette scheming scene.)
Great work again Cyrus! Really great comedic timing, as always! 😁 4:05 Bunnyx's running animation looked so awkward and funny. Cat Blanc had so much potential. But like you said, it has quite a few issues. Time travel in this show is a problem for 2 reasons: 1.) It creates a powerful undo button that takes away any tension and 2.) Now that I think about it, Gabriel reminds me of Otto from Honkai Impact the 3rd. They both are meant to be sympathetic villains who want to revive their loved ones, but they fail at being sympathetic. Otto was great 500 years ago, because he was shown as a caring individual, who wanted to help people, but later the screenwriters just fucked up and turned him from a great character to a psychopath who killed millions of people when the herrscher of the void was awoken in Kiana. Because of Otto, Himeko and millions of innocent people died! While Gabriel didn't kill millions, he is inconsistent. In one episode he can be a caring father, in another he is a fucking moron. He became dumb, just like Otto. I wanted to like Gabriel and Otto, because I love a villain who is shown to be sympathetic, but they both failed to grab my attention. Otto was ruined by bad decisions of the screenwriters and Gabriel was and inconsistent mess from the start of the show.
I think you kinda missed a whole thing about Otto’s character. He isn’t supposed to be sympathetic in the same way as Gabriel at all. He knew what he was doing was in many ways selfish and fucked up, so instead of playing the victim he just wore his villainy on his sleeve. He wasn’t fake and never played the victim card or shown in that light. The goal of the writers was not to make him purely sympathetic, but to make sure people understood why he was trying so hard to achieve a goal, while not having a reason to condon his actions. Everyone should have a mini Tesla in them. Another thing I want to bring up is the only person you are meant to purely sympathize anything with is Kallen, not Otto. It’s probably the biggest difference between how Otto and Gabriel’s villainy is written. We actually see Kallen live her life and motivations outside of Otto. Her conflicts, her betrayals, relationship and misfortune with Sakura, and how the people she wanted to protect wrongfully turned against her. It makes Otto’s reasoning easier to UNDERSTAND because him and us watched the only person that gave him a second chance be dealt some of the worst cards anyone could be ever handed in life. He never did these terrible things for himself, he did it for her. It’s why he was so willing to sacrifice himself, so she could live a life she deserved. We see Kallen as a character. This can NOT be said for Emilie, as she is merely treated as a plot device and nothing more. Why would we even slightly want the villain to succeed in resurrecting someone if we know nothing about them? Otto is how I WISH Gabriel was written. Messed up, but at least with a understandable reason, and a fleshed out past for both him and the person he is doing the messed up stuff for. Otto is honestly this type of villain done best in terms of writing.
@@smnicky1906 Still doesn't make him a well written character. He changed so much in the manga for no reason. He isn't the same Otto. He could have been better, but he isn't. In the first manga he is interesting. In the second one after Kallen meets Sakura and decides to come back he's a whole different character and an annoying one.

Chat Blanc's design could be worse if they made his eyes yellow. Just white cats with blue eyes are so pretty 😩. And it's so easy that it made me remember of one old fanart

I think the chat blanc is a very nice episode[it's not like I only liked the chat blanc in this episode -] but I would delete the scene where Ladybug was doing some things in Adrien room I also was an Adrienette shipper but after watching your video about why Marinette is not a really good prontagonist makes me understand why this ship started to be kinda creepy for me . The only things that didn't change from first watching the episodes from miraculous is the fact that I still likes Adrigami a little and I don't care about Luka-

I disagree with the #timetravelruinstv. Time travel can be and has been done well before, miraculous just has shit writers who couldn't write anything good to save their lives.
I honestly like this episode because of Cat blanc. He was the best villain and his fight was excellent. But Gabriel and Marinette were stupid. But I knew Gabriel was this F*CKING bad *Also I LOVED AMY'S THEME*
I mean, Bunnix confirmed that Cat Noir and Ladybug are still in there endless love limbo as adults. This means that nothing will EVER happen between Marinette and Adrien in the shows runtime unless they retcon Bunnix
7:37 if shadowmoth can give super op powers like that to the people he akumatizes then why bother giving them useless powers like controlling pigeons 💀 I know this is obvious but it really annoys me At first I did sympathize with him because unlike some other villains he just wanted to bring his wife back to life (which still isn't a good reason to traumatize a bunch of teens) but the fact that he is ready to hurt his own son just for his own benefit then that straight up makes him a bad person indeed. I would sympathize with him if he actually moved on from his wife and focus on what family he has left- adrien. Although there’s some episodes I preferred some other episodes than Chat Blanc like Guiltrip and Volpina For a Miraculous episode Chat Blanc was pretty good a solid 8/10 for me! Even though Adrienette is a meh…ship for me. I love seeing Bunnyx in this episode as it was an interesting potential. As for Ephemeral that episode was a 4/10 for me as it was literally just a repeat of Chat Blanc

My theory is that he was protected by plagg, as being the embodiment of destruction his own power should (normally) not affect him as it is part of his being, and adrien in black/white cat form has the same powers and perhaps the same resistance to his cataclysm

I love the fact the show has 0 idea what to do with Gabriel. Homeboy began from a villain who's evil for the sake of evil. Then Thomas came up with the idea to make him Adrien's dad so now he has to be a sympathetic villain which just DOESN'T WORK. Like seriously making Gabriel's motive to bring back Emilie is the equivalent to Marinette's stalker-ish behavior. It's not explained and the show just treats it as a given without exploring the reason behind it. Honestly it's kind of scary to think about the similarities between the MAIN F**KING VILLIAN and our PROTAGONIST without it being acknowledged by the show. Not to mention how he goes back and forth with what kind of villain he is. For example, in Chat Blank the second he learned his son was Chat Noir he straight up yeeted him into the Eiffel Tower unlike in the NYC where he was like "Oh no my son might get hurt because of the monster I created I MUST PROTECT HIM!"
We were all caught up in the drama of it all, the cool concept of Cat Noir akumatised, but rewatch and it falls apart in execution. They only did this because it was a cool fandom idea.
Vader murdered not only men but women and the children too and tried to kill whole planets just to bring his wife back to life and he is way more symphatetic than Gabriel
I think this episode could be saved with one detail. Ladybug doesn’t perform Miraculous Ladybug and restore the timeline. What should happen is Bunnytrix sends Ladybug to this timeline because Chat Blanc’s destruction blasts are causing that timeline to become so viotel that it’s going to destroy the main timeline, that’s why Bunnytrix needs Ladybug to find what caused Chat to become akumatized and prevent it from happening in their timeline. So Bunnytrix shucks Ladybug in there, Ladybug looks around encounters Chat Blanc, gets traumatized, realizes that one thing comes to mind as to reveal her secret identity and is then chased through the ruins of flooded Paris and into the catacombs, all Ladybug can do is run and just as Chat Blanc has her cornered Bunnytrix pulls her out in the nick of time. The episode proceeds as normal but this time Chat’s akuma is never released the timeline never restored but thanks to Ladybug preventing Adrien from discovering her identity, that timeline has become distanced enough that even if it does blow it won’t hurt their timeline ( I’m just making stuff up as I go along). Bunnytrix leaves and just as Ladybug is about to go she gets a call from Chat Noir, she just stairs at the phone(?) as it rings until it goes to voicemail and he leaves a message about hanging out for a bit, she has a flashback to Chat Blanc’s insane and twisted face, his cold eyes, and dead, deluged world. She shakes her head, she texts back that she can’t, she really can’t after the nightmare she’s gone through. The screen pans back to Flooded Paris, to a Chat Blanc standing in waist deep water with head bowed and eyes closed, it’s dark, all of the stars have gone out as this timeline falls apart, we get a close up of his face as it fades to black only for a pair burning blue eye to open suddenly and screen fades to white. This way you could have Chat Blanc show back for the season finale, as Hawkmoth is in acting another hair brained sceam and Ladybug composing an over complicated plan only for Chat Blanc to come crashing in like a wrecking ball. Think they’ll pay me for this one?

The show would be a tiny bit good if we had an episode about Mama Agreste........but no....have Mari being a stalker because it's important!/s) I want to give Adrien a hug after what he went though.....and his voice acting on the english dub....wow (I know that I only watched clips of the episode but I really loved that scene with him as Blanc while he was talking with past LB, there was emotion in it. I have a like/hate relationship with this episode, honestly. As in, I like some of the ideas for it but hate most of the execution. That’s all I can really say about this one without going on a tangent about it. However, that said, it’s still slightly better than Ephemeral. Also, DOGGIES!!! THEY’RE ALL ADORABLE AND I WANNA GIVE THEM ALL THE PETS!

Anyone else feel weird how alix was barely seen this season. We know shes gonna be bunnix in the future so they couldve at least made some alix centered episodes to have a good buildup. But then again im not surprised since ladybug hands out the miraculouses like candy.
I like to say there's a comic on tumblr on miraculous where chole has the ladybug miraculous and Mariette has the bee miraculous, it's call scarlet lady made by Zoe-oneesame and it's a lot better then the show, but chole will not have a redemption arc in the comic, but it's totally worth your time

I personally consider this episode to have the most potential but probably the largest mistakes in execution. I personally like the white as it is not only an inversion of his black chat side of him (I have also heard rumours it was originally supposed to be 2 parts) You could also consider the white to be a representation of losing all individuality an undergoing albedo (reference to the alchemical process of creating the philosopher's stone) purifying him in a way(removal of all attachments limitations and flaws via infinite destruction)
4:56 also white cats are the most ostracized in the cat world by other cats. Because they’re one color that’s sticks out, makes them easy to hunt. And white cats genetically suffer from eye problems - they can’t see very well. So it totally makes sense that he’s a white cat when akumatized
I will tell you he assumed that because looking make on the pictures in his head he thought how they were so alike in the hair or the looks . I think it made sense because of the pictures shown in his head besides it wasn't the first time he suspected that in kwamibuster too.

As a person who doesn't watch the show but follows the fandom, I honestly thought cat blanc was a two parter. The set-up just feels to perfect to just be a single episode. also apparently it took a year to write.
i remember right before chat blanc came out everyone in the fandom was so exited, i remember reading fanfics and comics and even watching videos making theories of what would happen, the fanbase was so fun! i made a lot of friends in that period of me life! and back then, i thought that episode was amazing. now i realize they didnt really try. it kinda hurts my heart to know what this show has come to, it was my whole childhood! i wish they had put more love into what they made, they could have made a masterpiece! but they chose not to :(

They should've started Gabriel out as a sympathetic villain who just wanted his wife back so things could back to normal and his son could have a mom again, so they should've wrote in scenes where he felt guilty about his actions but then soon after he starts justifying his choices. Then as time goes on and he keeps losing, he starts becoming more desperate and starts caring less and less about hurting others. On top of that, maybe his misuse of the miraculous causes him to slowly lose himself to madness. So this slow descent into madness + his desperation causes him to use any method he can, even if it means akumatizing and hurting his own son. Actually seeing him start out as a father who does truly care for his son slowly lose his mind, instead of just inferring would've made him a way more interesting villain.
When he transforms into shadow moth the peacock symbol on his back gets some cracks. He probable didnt fully fixed it and is using a broke miraculous

I totally agree with the Gabriel part. That man was SO out of character in this episode ! I feeled so betrayed because he’s my second favorite character behind Adrien. The reason why I love this character ? Season 2. Litteraly Season 2. « The Collector » made me love him and when in Queen Wasp, he was ready to give up because he wanted to keep Adrien safe was amazing. Because we see in that moment a not completely unforgivable vilain but in Cat Blanc…yeah.

Yeah like...when they get him right, it's very good. Like overall he's not...a good father but he does show that he at least cares for the safety of his child. I'll agree that it feels...out of place for him to just take advantage of his sons own negative emotions seeing how he usually doesn't like it when his son is involved in any way with the villains like in style queen or something.

One of the things that bothered me about the episode was that Gabriel was acting severely out of character....I expected some kind of reaction to him finding out that his son was Cat Noir....But he acted like he already knew this....Also, having the episode from Mari's perceptive was a bad choice....It should been focused more on Cat....But Cat blank still is a scary villain...

If you can ignore the fact that Marinette is a creepy stalker girl for a second, the Adrinette scenes are actually very sweet and shows they could work together well.
Y'know... if you forget she's a creepy stalker girl.
But that chemistry is totally unbelievable if they hardly show it before hand. Adrien and Marinette hardly know each other, and barely talk. But in these types of episodes, it works just because it does.

You know, 'Chat Blanc' could've been a great episode... if it was a two-parter. The reason why I was never fond of this episode because I felt that everything was rushed in it. Bunnix speedran through the Adrienette moments. Gabriel didn't have a realistic reaction to finding out that his son is Chat Noir, and don't even get me started on how he smacked his own son like a golf ball and sent him flying across Paris. Heck, we didn't even know HOW the heroes found out where HM's hideout is without either one of them realizing who HM is until he called CN by his real name! One thing that I liked about the episode is that Chat Blanc himself was a scary and a very powerful akuma, probably the most powerful one to date. But of course, guess how Ladybug defeats him? By manipulating his feelings. Wow. Just wow.
But, despite me not liking 'CB' that much, I must say that it's a very good excuse for as to why LB can't share many secrets with CN. But other than a nightmare in one episode, Ladybug never told anyone about CB. Not Alya, and not Su-Han. Instead, she goes ahead and gaslights Su-Han, which makes her look like a massive hypocrite.
These bait-and-switch episodes have to stop. All what happens in them is that the reveal occurs, Gabriel somehow finds out, akumatizes Adrien, everything goes downhill and then someone uses some time travel shenanigans to 'fix' the mess. Which makes it seem that HM will never win.
That last bit... HM may never win, but LB has never beaten him yet. They have never come close to finding him and taking his Miraculous. It's just a prolonged, episodic 1st season.

In one of the new episodes, they attempted to do a racism message, but failed spectacularly due to the bad writing. Honestly a show with writing like this should never try something so important. Also I did used to find Gabriel sympathetic, I didn't agree with his actions and methods,but I could understand where he was coming from. This episode however, was a big part of me no longer considering him sympathetic. It was mostly season three that made me no longer consider him sympathetic.

@@lily.0317 the episode is called Qilin (which I believe is the name of a mythological creature). Basically, Marinette and her mom were going somewhere (don't remember where) and Marinette got off the bus real quick because she wanted to buy her mom something for mother's day. Marinette had her mom's purse because she forgot to bring money. Anyway Marinette was supposed to get back on the bus,but she took too long and missed it. At the next stop some bus inspector or something singled her out and asked to see Marinette's moms ticket, which Marinette had. She told him this and he accused her of lying. He asked for identification, which Marinette also had. So at the next stop (where Marinette was supposed to meet her) she was arrested by that one cop that is always shown (Roger,I think his name is and he was acting extremely out of character, but that's besides the point). The cops were acting extremely hostile to her for no reason whatsoever. This was,to me at least,meant to be a racism message because only Sabine (Marinette's mom) was asked if she had a ticket and no one else was asked. The cop's treatment of her also very much seemed like a racism message type of thing. The way they went about it was pretty poorly done,especially since this cop was way out of character (could have easily just made it a cop we've never seen) Anyway I recommend watching the episode yourself, I did NOT do a very good job explaining this.

Time travel is extremely hard and confusing concept and even competent writers often fail to properly execute it. And when writers of Miraculous, who are mediocre at best try to do it... Well, it doesn't go well.
I agree with you on Cat Blanc's design. Considering his circumstance, it's better than the fanarts of purple eyes and keeping his blonde hair.

I somewhat think of cat blanc as the strange supreme of miraculous, Evil version of mainstream heroes that witness losing their loved ones and even accidentally destroying their worlds while trying to fulfill their goals causing both to lose everything they love and know.
A fan service episode? Maybe. Messy time paradox rules that don’t make sense? Definitely.
But it’s still enjoyable to see “evil version” of our favorite characters.

Actually Chat Blanc was gonna be 45 minutes or an hour long but the TV studios didn't approve of it. In this episode we were suppose to see Chat Blanc kill Ladybug in a different way & was gonna be darker. It was gonna come out earlier but they had to rewrite the script so many times to please the studios to air it. This is the same for other episodes too & the NY Special was gonna be 2 hours long. I heard news that 1 day we'll finally get the long NY special. I just can't wait til this whole series is over so someone or another company can reboot it the right way! I hope you can do a video talking about the Quantic Kids & the original storyline with your opinion on how it was gonna go

Unrelated but anyone watched risk? It was satisfying to watch these guys act normal for once and have some explanation for their weird behavior. I mean some of the dialogue was laughably inconsistent with how they normally behave, but if that's the price to pay, I'm willing to cut some slack. Also did anyone else find it rushed or at least too quick. The plot finally moves forward but this could've *easily* been a three part special for me.

Cat Blanc had so much potential. But like you said, it has quite a few issues. Time travel in this show is a problem for 2 reasons: 1.) It creates a powerful undo button that takes away any tension and 2.) It's not even done well and creates a paradox if you think about it too hard.

Now that I think about it, Gabriel reminds me of Otto from Honkai Impact the 3rd. They both are meant to be sympathetic villains who want to revive their loved ones, but they fail at being sympathetic. Otto was great 500 years ago, because he was shown as a caring individual, who wanted to help people, but later the screenwriters just fucked up and turned him from a great character to a psychopath who killed millions of people when the herrscher of the void was awoken in Kiana. Because of Otto, Himeko and millions of innocent people died!
While Gabriel didn't kill millions, he is inconsistent. In one episode he can be a caring father, in another he is a fucking moron. He became dumb, just like Otto.
I wanted to like Gabriel and Otto, because I love a villain who is shown to be sympathetic, but they both failed to grab my attention. Otto was ruined by bad decisions of the screenwriters and Gabriel was and inconsistent mess from the start of the show.
No wonder Ottos character felt like Deja Vu to me 😭

I think you kinda missed a whole thing about Otto’s character. He isn’t supposed to be sympathetic in the same way as Gabriel at all. He knew what he was doing was in many ways selfish and fucked up, so instead of playing the victim he just wore his villainy on his sleeve. He wasn’t fake and never played the victim card or shown in that light. The goal of the writers was not to make him purely sympathetic, but to make sure people understood why he was trying so hard to achieve a goal, while not having a reason to condon his actions. Everyone should have a mini Tesla in them.
Another thing I want to bring up is the only person you are meant to purely sympathize anything with is Kallen, not Otto. It’s probably the biggest difference between how Otto and Gabriel’s villainy is written. We actually see Kallen live her life and motivations outside of Otto. Her conflicts, her betrayals, relationship and misfortune with Sakura, and how the people she wanted to protect wrongfully turned against her. It makes Otto’s reasoning easier to UNDERSTAND because him and us watched the only person that gave him a second chance be dealt some of the worst cards anyone could be ever handed in life. He never did these terrible things for himself, he did it for her. It’s why he was so willing to sacrifice himself, so she could live a life she deserved. We see Kallen as a character. This can NOT be said for Emilie, as she is merely treated as a plot device and nothing more. Why would we even slightly want the villain to succeed in resurrecting someone if we know nothing about them?
Otto is how I WISH Gabriel was written. Messed up, but at least with a understandable reason, and a fleshed out past for both him and the person he is doing the messed up stuff for. Otto is honestly this type of villain done best in terms of writing.

In the first manga he is interesting. In the second one after Kallen meets Sakura and decides to come back he's a whole different character and an annoying one.

At first I did sympathize with him because unlike some other villains he just wanted to bring his wife back to life (which still isn't a good reason to traumatize a bunch of teens) but the fact that he is ready to hurt his own son just for his own benefit then that straight up makes him a bad person indeed. I would sympathize with him if he actually moved on from his wife and focus on what family he has left- adrien. I understand that losing someone close to you is something very hard to go through but like dude might as well try to bring back your grandmother back to life.

Although there’s some episodes I preferred some other episodes than Chat Blanc like Guiltrip and Volpina For a Miraculous episode Chat Blanc was pretty good a solid 8/10 for me! Even though Adrienette is a meh…ship for me. I love seeing Bunnyx in this episode as it was an interesting potential.
As for Ephemeral that episode was a 4/10 for me as it was literally just a repeat of Chat Blanc
Honestly I have things that are really bothered me about the Chat Blanc episode.
1. The way Ladybug defeated Chat Blanc. Like seriously she didn't even try. She didn't even look like it's hard to beat the most powerfull villain who's going to end humanity. _Bootleg Thanos but better._ Like seriously Atleast made it look like it's hard to beated him? Made it looks like he's actually the most powerful villain?
2. Marinette. In this episode Marinette break to Adrien's house. Oh sorry you want me to repeate that again? *BREAK.INTO.HIS.HOUSE**.* And acting flopping creepy. I mean it's fine if this was a show for 11+ yo kids. But.. _It's not._ WHAT'S THE POINT OF THIS? DO YOU WANT THE KIDS TO RANDOMLY BREAK INTO THEIR CRUSH'S HOUSE AND ACTING CREEPY? This is a kid show, not the show that your grandma used to watch.
3. Chat blanc's eyebrows. Chat blanc's costume already white atleast made like there's a visible grey eyebrows? but i don't really care about this part lol.

I love the fact the show has 0 idea what to do with Gabriel. Homeboy began from a villain who's evil for the sake of evil. Then Thomas came up with the idea to make him Adrien's dad so now he has to be a sympathetic villain which just DOESN'T WORK. Like seriously making Gabriel's motive to bring back Emilie is the equivalent to Marinette's stalker-ish behavior. It's not explained and the show just treats it as a given without exploring the reason behind it. Honestly it's kind of scary to think about the similarities between the MAIN F**KING VILLIAN and our PROTAGONIST without it being acknowledged by the show. Not to mention how he goes back and forth with what kind of villain he is. For example, in Chat Blank the second he learned his son was Chat Noir he straight up yeeted him into the Eiffel Tower unlike in the NYC where he was like "Oh no my son might get hurt because of the monster I created I MUST PROTECT HIM!"
We were all caught up in the drama of it all, the cool concept of Cat Noir akumatised, but rewatch and it falls apart in execution. They only did this because it was a cool fandom idea.

The first part of the finale has been leaked, you should go watch it, it’s not perfect as usual it’s pretty decent
Vader murdered not only men but women and the children too and tried to kill whole planets just to bring his wife back to life and he is way more symphatetic than Gabriel
I think this episode could be saved with one detail. Ladybug doesn’t perform Miraculous Ladybug and restore the timeline. What should happen is Bunnytrix sends Ladybug to this timeline because Chat Blanc’s destruction blasts are causing that timeline to become so viotel that it’s going to destroy the main timeline, that’s why Bunnytrix needs Ladybug to find what caused Chat to become akumatized and prevent it from happening in their timeline. So Bunnytrix shucks Ladybug in there, Ladybug looks around encounters Chat Blanc, gets traumatized, realizes that one thing comes to mind as to reveal her secret identity and is then chased through the ruins of flooded Paris and into the catacombs, all Ladybug can do is run and just as Chat Blanc has her cornered Bunnytrix pulls her out in the nick of time. The episode proceeds as normal but this time Chat’s akuma is never released the timeline never restored but thanks to Ladybug preventing Adrien from discovering her identity, that timeline has become distanced enough that even if it does blow it won’t hurt their timeline ( I’m just making stuff up as I go along). Bunnytrix leaves and just as Ladybug is about to go she gets a call from Chat Noir, she just stairs at the phone(?) as it rings until it goes to voicemail and he leaves a message about hanging out for a bit, she has a flashback to Chat Blanc’s insane and twisted face, his cold eyes, and dead, deluged world. She shakes her head, she texts back that she can’t, she really can’t after the nightmare she’s gone through. The screen pans back to Flooded Paris, to a Chat Blanc standing in waist deep water with head bowed and eyes closed, it’s dark, all of the stars have gone out as this timeline falls apart, we get a close up of his face as it fades to black only for a pair burning blue eye to open suddenly and screen fades to white. This way you could have Chat Blanc show back for the season finale, as Hawkmoth is in acting another hair brained sceam and Ladybug composing an over complicated plan only for Chat Blanc to come crashing in like a wrecking ball. Think they’ll pay me for this one?

I want to give Adrien a hug after what he went though.....and his voice acting on the english dub....wow (I know that I only watched clips of the episode but I really loved that scene with him as Blanc while he was talking with past LB, there was emotion in it. Or maybe I'm exaggerating...but I adore actors that put their all on their characters *Cough* Nolan and Mark on the season 1 finale of Invincible)

Oh yeah this has been said in the old video but I will not stop preaching that THIS CHAT BLANC CONCEPT WAS MADE BY DEDICATED AND TALENTED FANS BUT WRITERS WERE TOO LAZY TO WRITE AN EPISODE SO THEY ADDED IT IN THERE IN SEASON 3.
I have a like/hate relationship with this episode, honestly. As in, I like some of the ideas for it but hate most of the execution. That’s all I can really say about this one without going on a tangent about it. However, that said, it’s still slightly better than Ephemeral.

Anyone else feel weird how alix was barely seen this season. We know shes gonna be bunnix in the future so they couldve at least made some alix centered episodes to have a good buildup. But then again im not surprised since ladybug hands out the miraculouses like candy.

I like to say there's a comic on tumblr on miraculous where chole has the ladybug miraculous and Mariette has the bee miraculous, it's call scarlet lady made by Zoe-oneesame and it's a lot better then the show, but chole will not have a redemption arc in the comic, but it's totally worth your time

You could also consider the white to be a representation of losing all individuality an undergoing albedo (reference to the alchemical process of creating the philosopher's stone) purifying him in a way(removal of all attachments limitations and flaws via infinite destruction)
4:56 also white cats are the most ostracized in the cat world by other cats. Because they’re one color that’s sticks out, makes them easy to hunt. And white cats genetically suffer from eye problems - they can’t see very well. So it totally makes sense that he’s a white cat when akumatized

As a person who doesn't watch the show but follows the fandom, I honestly thought cat blanc was a two parter. The set-up just feels to perfect to just be a single episode. also apparently it took a year to write.

i remember right before chat blanc came out everyone in the fandom was so exited, i remember reading fanfics and comics and even watching videos making theories of what would happen, the fanbase was so fun! i made a lot of friends in that period of me life! and back then, i thought that episode was amazing. now i realize they didnt really try. it kinda hurts my heart to know what this show has come to, it was my whole childhood! i wish they had put more love into what they made, they could have made a masterpiece! but they chose not to :(
