Oh my Gosh!!!! What a wonderful performance of César Franck. The last movement is been full of emotions: a very well done musical architecture, a high music building… full of secrets, shadows and sunchines, dusks and dawns… This music makes what Franck was telling to us about a better world through music in order to become us into a better human being citizen. And now you, Ms Buniatishvili and Mr. Vengerov have the skill to raise that goal for everyone with your great performance with such as subtle accuracy.
No words to explain what Mr. Gitlis means for music and for mankind. And at his age… his finest sense of humor is enormous!
What a very great group of friends with him…! Music makes solidarity, equality, social justice… if you are ready to spread that at your time, place and to the society that you have to live with…
What a splendid lesson of life!

I just realised that Maxim is not playing his usual beautiful Kreutzer Strad here! This one sounds a little bit thin in tone. Still lovely. Do we know why he switched violins for this performance? I know he swapped between a few violins in the 90's but he's been using the Kreutzer for years! An exhibition maybe?

    • @DevilViolinist
      @DevilViolinist 4 роки тому +1

@Big마리오 Yes the piano is very very loud, but I am talking about the thin quality of tone, the timbre of Vengerov's violin here. To me it sounds a bit hollow and metallic/shiny in comparison to his other Strad which I find very thick in tone, very broad and like a flute in the higher range while also sounding like a tenor opera singer on the lower strings.

+johnsmithgeps WIEN 18.12.2013 der STANDARD Kultur Musik Konzerte Wiener
      Konzerthaus
Klavierabend mit Khatia Buniatishvili im Mozartsaal ..." Nun spielte
Wichtige Übergänge (etwa in Chopin vierten Ballade)
überging sie hingegen gerne mit demonstrativer Ungerührheit. Wundervoll

Why? She’s beautiful. You want to hide her for some reason? How does her dress diminish your musical experience? And if it in fact does, then there are probably even more people for whom it adds to the experience. Much has been made about Khatia’s beauty and sexuality, and there have always been those who believe she has only made it because of her looks. Close your eyes and listen. She’s amazing. Yes, Khatia is the rare person so beautiful she probably could be extremely successful without actually doing anything, like so many Hollywood social media mavens, but instead of that happening, Khatia worked the long, long hours and faced the rejection and seeming impossibility of getting to the top of that ultra-competitive field. Piano chops don’t come easy to anyone. She succeeded. She’s an absolutely amazing pianist, and in a strange way, her looks are a handicap because of people who want to test her, to punish her, or who just refuse to believe that she was born with TWO rare gifts. Khatia has overcome all those prejudices and has given the world something wonderful in return for accepting her.... all of her.
