I could not want to be poor from today till tommorow. But the only way ill help myself out of poverty is by hard work making a living. The focus should be on work oppurtunities not free handouts. Americans are fed this notion that if you’re poor, it’s either because “god wants it” or you’re not working hard enough to come out of it. As if there aren’t plenty of Americans with jobs sleeping in cars because they still can’t afford a house. There’s also this notion that helping others is a handout, or that it’ll create a nation of lazy people who take advantage of the system/government. It’s sad that Americans don’t know how to look at the example of some other countries and see how things can work: in Denmark, not only is university free, government pays you a salary to study - this way, you get superior education because you want it, not because your parents are rich enough to afford it. If you don’t want to study, it’s also ok, salaries pay well enough for you to live comfortably, even if you’re the rubbish cleaner. For an American, this apparently is “communism” and it’s “bad.” 🙄

There was a story about a man who was asking the prophet whether to leave his camel untied and just trust in God's protection that the camel won't be stolen or run away, or to tie the camel. It is written in many writings worldwide we are God's temple. Including the Bible. Regardless whether or not a person does or doesn't believe in God (or whatever Name given) or what religion, God lives within. So, each person is the "church" or "temple" but not a building or the heart. Heart is figurative but can mean literal in the sense if people are good hearted or not. However, even this can be deceiving and subjective. Many can appear good hearted when they're not. People often have this preconceived notion that it’s impossible to escape poverty. I’m gonna use myself as an example, if that’s ok with you. My mom is a divorced mother of 2 living on a teacher salary with no other income. At 14, I got a job and helped my mother pay the bills at our house. I also worked hard in school and got a 30 on the ACT in my freshman year. I then kept up my job while also working hard in school. Now, as a graduate, I got a 35 on my ACT, finished with a 4.0 GPA, participated in multiple sports, was a member of Honor Society, and created our school’s debate club, and finally I became valedictorian. I’ll be attending college at Dartmouth University with a near full ride scholarship, and the rest of it can be payed off with the money that I saved up from my job. I get so disgusted when people talk about how you can’t escape poverty because it’s honestly a disservice to my life when people claim that. Sure I may not have been homeless, but if someone from a poor family with little hope in the future can rise to an Ivy League college through hard work, then it can’t possibly be that hard for a homeless person to go out and get a job

I've talked to numerous people who lived during the depression and the churches did follow the mandate to help their fellow man but of course some preaching came with it.

Where does God live? Within everyone. It is how God "Works through us" and doesn't have a thing to do with buildings such as temples, churches, mosque etc. Those are places people gather to learn and worship according to their beliefs.
It is written in many writings worldwide we are God's temple. Including the Bible.
Regardless whether or not a person does or doesn't believe in God (or whatever Name given) or what religion, God lives within. So, each person is the "church" or "temple" but not a building or the heart. Heart is figurative but can mean literal in the sense if people are good hearted or not. However, even this can be deceiving and subjective. Many can appear good hearted when they're not. As well, people who appear to be heartless can suddenly do something remarkable that help a person or people.
God knows people's hearts as God knows everything. Nothing is hidden.

Kirsten Guest or maybe he did actually grow up in poverty and worked hard to get out of it and then saw himself as a perfect example of how other can people can also work hard to get out of poverty. People often have this preconceived notion that it’s impossible to escape poverty. I’m gonna use myself as an example, if that’s ok with you. My mom is a divorced mother of 2 living on a teacher salary with no other income. At 14, I got a job and helped my mother pay the bills at our house. I also worked hard in school and got a 30 on the ACT in my freshman year. I then kept up my job while also working hard in school. Now, as a graduate, I got a 35 on my ACT, finished with a 4.0 GPA, participated in multiple sports, was a member of Honor Society, and created our school’s debate club, and finally I became valedictorian. I’ll be attending college at Dartmouth University with a near full ride scholarship, and the rest of it can be payed off with the money that I saved up from my job. I get so disgusted when people talk about how you can’t escape poverty because it’s honestly a disservice to my life when people claim that. Sure I may not have been homeless, but if someone from a poor family with little hope in the future can rise to an Ivy League college through hard work, then it can’t possibly be that hard for a homeless person to go out and get a job

I've talked to numerous people who lived during the depression and the churches did follow the mandate to help their fellow man but of course some preaching came with it.

You missed the other part of the quote where he says you can also be rich as you want to be. He is saying if your not going to work hard and get a job that is your choice, don't complain when you are on welfare and have less money than someone who works 40 hours a week.
