3/6/24 I want to thank you for posting this video. It has saved my life and lots of money. I have just managed to get my dead X5 e53 going thanks to you. I will add on as well that you can remove the boot release unit very easily ( 4 small bolts underneath) which means you can then access the light much easier and remove the bulb very simply. It's then also very easy to clamp on the jump lead onto the bulb terminal. Worked within a second.... Cheers!
@@timeismoney9684, I did, just yesterday. I watched videos on how to use a jumper box to connect to the positive side of the license plate light and get enough power to unlock the back hatch and gate. At first this didn't work, but then realized I didn't have a good ground connection. After that, I manged to get the other doors to unlock using my key fob, all except for the drivers door. I'm assuming that door has more items inside that just may have been a bit too much of an Amp draw, but at least I got inside and got the old battery out, which was dead, only about 2 volts or less left in it. New AGM battery going in this week as well as installing a hookup for a battery tender.
I know I'm late to this but I'm assuming you're locked out in this situation....... Ok, did you know that you can still open the car with the key by turning it all the way to the left.. past the usual turn. That will open mechanically and not electronically.
