I still remember the first time I saw it in theaters when I was 15. Went twice. Wrote a thesis paper for my grammar school about the film and Stone. I was completely mesmerized by it. completely overwhelmed. He was "happy with the film"..?!?! It is a goddam masterpiece that will last forever. It is film history. It is one of the best films ever made. Period. It is right up there with the greatest. Costner is just brilliant in it. The cinematography, the editing, the music.... It completely changed my mind. I saw politics and the world in a different way. It still informs my thinking. Stone never made a better film. It is his greatest achievement. Sorry for indulging myself but I carry this film in my heart and soul since the age of 15.

I remember people telling me how great it was and maybe I went into it with too high of expectations. If I ever had the opportunity to speak to Oliver Stone I'd like to talk to him about his "World Trade Centre" film. For me its the polar opposite of JFK in so much as it doesnt question the official narrative of those events at all. It's obviously a controversial subject but there were so many strange, unexplained coincidences that occurred on that day (the freefall collapse of WTC 7 being the most glaring, along with the current legal battle the victims relatives are persuing relating to the alleged involvement of the Saudi state) I was dissapointed Stone chose to make such a toothless movie on the subject. Michael Moore touched on some of these questions in his "Farenheit 911" documentary, I was hoping at the time Stone's film would follow that lead to be just as questioning as JFK was back in the '90's.
Personally, I think this might have put him in a bit of trouble. JFK was enough for him and even this one kind of hurt him. As for 9/11, first building to drop, you could make a case, hit in the middle but the second tower to drop, no fuc#ing way. Nonsense and tower 7, no way, which leads back to the first tower, which means controlled demolition... No doubt.

I feel like Nixon is a companion film to JFK. I don't hear much talk of that and it's also an incredible piece of film making. I agree with you all, this film (JFK) completely changed my world view and life. Stone's work on the Untold History of the United States is just as shocking. It's like Howard Zinn put to film. Heaven & Earth is an amazing film as well.
Costner should’ve gotten an Oscar nomination for this. The courtroom scene was so powerful. Also, wouldn’t be surprised if Costner agreed to star in this movie when other leading men wouldn’t dare. Costner has always been brave and ahead of his time when it comes to roles & movie decisions. I’m glad it was him.
It was the sad day that america died when it killed its own for money. Many forget but the Diem brothers were killed in Saigon 20 days earlier and so it paved the way for Johnston to support a war in Vietnam. US has never been the same since.
Terrific interview. I would just like to say I have probably watched JFK at least 100 times since it came out. I became one of the "researchers". Mr. Stone thank you for your service to our country in Vietnam. There are so many reasons to admire you and your life and that is one of them.
To open the film with Ike's final speech before he leaves office was a masterstroke... just sets the tone straight away and what a powerful speech it was.... the words from ike stick in my mind " we must guard against"...and "whether sought or unsought" "the military industrial complex"....you can tell he's frustrated and worried...a powerful and brilliant speech
Thank God for the movie JFK. We would not have access to so many of the Documents that were hidden from the American Public that Oliver Stone's testimony and movie made possible. But i still admire the guy for making films with guts, and a curious perspective i tend to share, regardless of his politics. Costner did an amazing job playing Garrison, but man-oh-man, I wonder how it would have looked with Harrison Ford in the role. And why did he turn it down? Ford has talked at length about wanting to play roles which allow him to dig into the human aspect of his characters - I cannot imagine a better role for him to do that with.
If the Secret Service had been on the cars two rear bumper foot stands with hand griips the shots would have been blocked. JFK did not want them there because he wanted himself and Jackie to be seen. It was always said that the rear bumper foot stands were not in the right place to protect the President anyway. This video clearly shows where the rear bumper foot stands were and would have protected the President. Also, it was always very obtuse about how Clint Hill got onto the back of the car with Jackie. Earlier windows of the footage show him riding on the side of the back up car. Somehow he managed to run up and jump on JFK's car stepping onto the bumper footstand and leaping onto the back of the car. Many accounts had him somehow walking along. So many strange stories. Strange these bumper stands were never brought up or revealed in the hundreds and hundreds of footage and photos I saw about the assasination. The bumper stands that were not there are there. Very mysterious. The hand rail to hang on is clearly visible on the right side of the car. More disproven conspiracy stories. It just goes on and on. Emory Roberts rode shotgun in the back up car head of the Secret Service Detail that day at Dealey Plaza. When the President got shot, Emory Roberts was in charge thereafter. Nobody ever talks about that. He took charge of everything, and immediately got Johnson onto Air Force One to leave Dallas and be sworn in going to Washington or if necessary a safe place to protect him. Emory was my neighbor in Wheaton, Md. on Holdridge Rd. Most of this is in Dealey Plaza - The End of Camelot by William Wells In the early morning it was scheduled to rain in Dallas and the Secret Service was setting up to install the canopy on the car. The forecast changed and the President wanted to be seen by the crowds, and besides the President did not want ir put on. So it was not put on. So as to not make JFK negligent in his death, it was bandied about that there were no foot stands on the rear of the car for Secret Service to ride on. Clearly you can see two foot stands on the rear bumper of the car with handrails to hang on. Clint Hills is stepping on one to get onto the back of the car to be with Jackie. There is just bogus story after bogus story surrounding JFK's assasination

Oliver Stone is not all wrong with the film. Perhaps he has added something more, but he has roughly proved the truth and as a support of his film of him now I show you the reconstruction of the events of November 22, 1963. This is what happened that morning of November 22, 1963 in Dallas and the Zapruder video speaks very clearly. The presidential limousine takes Elm Street and after a few meters the first shot fired by Nicoletti starts who, together with Rosselli, was hidden in the Dal Tex Building. The first bullet misses its target and hits the sidewalk of the triple rail crossing at the end of the square and a splinter ends up in the face of James Tague, a passerby who was standing there. The second bullet hits Kennedy in the throat, and as you can see in the footage, the president puts his hands around his neck and Governor Connally turns back to understand what happened. The third bullet misses and ends up on the lawn where it is later found by an FBI man and Deputy Buddy Walthers. The fourth bullet hits Connally who emits a grimace of pain as seen in the video and brings his right hand to his stomach because he accuses an immediate pain and then the bullet pierces his right wrist and plants itself in the thigh of his left leg. The fifth bullet hits Kennedy in the back of the head and the sixth bullet, fired by James Files hiding on the grassy knoll half a second after the fifth shot, shoots both Kennedy's blood and head back, and the brain leaking was due to pressure. of the sixth bullet that had left an apple-sized hole behind Kennedy's head, as evidenced by photos of 14 people bringing their hands to the same spot on their heads. I say with certainty that the bullets were 6 because it seems that a shot was fired about every three seconds, that is the time to reload the rifle. Returning to Connally, which is the key to clarifying the mystery well, there is a lot to say. 1) First of all, from the angle in which Oswald would have found himself firing, which was about 45 degrees, only Kennedy would have been hit and no one else, the bullet could not in any way make a deviation and then hit the governor. 2) When Kennedy is shot Connally turns around to see what happens and stays there for about three seconds, the time to reload the shot in the rifle; if the governor had been hit by the magic bullet, at the same time as the president, he would have had the same reaction as Kennedy and would have neither the way nor the strength to look back. 3) The governor Connally when he is wounded is still turned and you see a grimace of pain as I mentioned before him and then turn forward again and collapse on his wife's legs. 4) In the video you can see how Connally bumps his head in front of the glass that separates him from the driver's and assistant's seats. 5) Do you know why Connally was hit? Both because Kennedy threw himself on his wife's right shoulder, because bending over did not hinder the trajectory of the fourth bullet that almost grazed him hitting the governor, and because the shot was fired by Nicoletti from the window of the Dal Tex Building and reached the governor, because Kennedy was leaning towards his wife. So, not only does the first missile reveal where the shot really came from, but also what hit Connally. Indisputable and real evidence, but unfortunately denied by many, including the Warren commission which veiled so much evidence.

My all-time favorite movie because it had it all. I just hope that newer information will be added regarding the shots from the front left of the limo that pierced the windshield and most likely entered JFK's throat; and the fatal head wound as described on UA-cam by Sherry P. Fiester in her book "Enemy of the Truth." Shots were fired from the grassy knoll as most people know but they missed the president's head. JFK was facing down and slightly to the left away from the grassy knoll. If JFK had been struck in the right temple from that direction, the bullet would have exited the area of his left temple. The bullet would not have made a drastic left turn to exit the right rear area. The pieces to this very important historical puzzle are put together by many true investigative journalists and lay people seeking the truth. In my research for Dealey Plaza - The End of Camelot, I went to Swarthmore College Library’s Ruth Paine section. I spent three mornings reviewing Oswald’s information. I viewed a rough draft of a letter Oswald had scribbled on a plain piece of paper that Ruth Paine had found in her house. It was a strange, rambling letter with uneven margins all broken up, revealing a confused state of mind. I have studied people’s handwriting most of my life. His handwriting was unclear, meandering across the page, very childlike, a scribble in places, unsteady with no continuity. His grammar poor. A bizarre letter - wandering, nonsensical. What engrossed me was his “Signature Block.” It was a jumble that screamed an indescribable horror leaping out at me from the page, frightening me, captivating me for minutes. It was like looking into hell only worse. I saw the “Embodiment of Evil,” a horrifying numbing experience, a horror beyond description.

Stone's 1991 movie is packed with so many *demonstrable* lies (over forty important ones) it would take all day just to list them all. Costner did an amazing job playing Garrison, but man-oh-man, I wonder how it would have looked with Harrison Ford in the role. And why did he turn it down? Ford has talked at length about wanting to play roles which allow him to dig into the human aspect of his characters - I cannot imagine a better role for him to do that with.

If the Secret Service had been on the cars two rear bumper foot stands with hand griips the shots would have been blocked. JFK did not want them there because he wanted himself and Jackie to be seen. It was always said that the rear bumper foot stands were not in the right place to protect the President anyway. This video clearly shows where the rear bumper foot stands were and would have protected the President.
Also, it was always very obtuse about how Clint Hill got onto the back of the car with Jackie. Earlier windows of the footage show him riding on the side of the back up car. Somehow he managed to run up and jump on JFK's car stepping onto the bumper footstand and leaping onto the back of the car. Many accounts had him somehow walking along. So many strange stories.
Strange these bumper stands were never brought up or revealed in the hundreds and hundreds of footage and photos I saw about the assasination. The bumper stands that were not there are there. Very mysterious. The hand rail to hang on is clearly visible on the right side of the car. More disproven conspiracy stories. It just goes on and on.
Emory Roberts rode shotgun in the back up car head of the Secret Service Detail that day at Dealey Plaza. When the President got shot, Emory Roberts was in charge thereafter. Nobody ever talks about that. He took charge of everything, and immediately got Johnson onto Air Force One to leave Dallas and be sworn in going to Washington or if necessary a safe place to protect him. Emory was my neighbor in Wheaton, Md. on Holdridge Rd.

In the early morning it was scheduled to rain in Dallas and the Secret Service was setting up to install the canopy on the car. The forecast changed and the President wanted to be seen by the crowds, and besides the President did not want ir put on. So it was not put on.
So as to not make JFK negligent in his death, it was bandied about that there were no foot stands on the rear of the car for Secret Service to ride on. Clearly you can see two foot stands on the rear bumper of the car with handrails to hang on. Clint Hills is stepping on one to get onto the back of the car to be with Jackie. There is just bogus story after bogus story surrounding JFK's assasination

Oliver Stone is not all wrong with the film. Perhaps he has added something more, but he has roughly proved the truth and as a support of his film of him now I show you the reconstruction of the events of November 22, 1963. This is what happened that morning of November 22, 1963 in Dallas and the Zapruder video speaks very clearly. The presidential limousine takes Elm Street and after a few meters the first shot fired by Nicoletti starts who, together with Rosselli, was hidden in the Dal Tex Building. The first bullet misses its target and hits the sidewalk of the triple rail crossing at the end of the square and a splinter ends up in the face of James Tague, a passerby who was standing there. The second bullet hits Kennedy in the throat, and as you can see in the footage, the president puts his hands around his neck and Governor Connally turns back to understand what happened. The third bullet misses and ends up on the lawn where it is later found by an FBI man and Deputy Buddy Walthers. The fourth bullet hits Connally who emits a grimace of pain as seen in the video and brings his right hand to his stomach because he accuses an immediate pain and then the bullet pierces his right wrist and plants itself in the thigh of his left leg. The fifth bullet hits Kennedy in the back of the head and the sixth bullet, fired by James Files hiding on the grassy knoll half a second after the fifth shot, shoots both Kennedy's blood and head back, and the brain leaking was due to pressure. of the sixth bullet that had left an apple-sized hole behind Kennedy's head, as evidenced by photos of 14 people bringing their hands to the same spot on their heads. I say with certainty that the bullets were 6 because it seems that a shot was fired about every three seconds, that is the time to reload the rifle. Returning to Connally, which is the key to clarifying the mystery well, there is a lot to say. 1) First of all, from the angle in which Oswald would have found himself firing, which was about 45 degrees, only Kennedy would have been hit and no one else, the bullet could not in any way make a deviation and then hit the governor. 2) When Kennedy is shot Connally turns around to see what happens and stays there for about three seconds, the time to reload the shot in the rifle; if the governor had been hit by the magic bullet, at the same time as the president, he would have had the same reaction as Kennedy and would have neither the way nor the strength to look back. 3) The governor Connally when he is wounded is still turned and you see a grimace of pain as I mentioned before him and then turn forward again and collapse on his wife's legs. 4) In the video you can see how Connally bumps his head in front of the glass that separates him from the driver's and assistant's seats. 5) Do you know why Connally was hit? Both because Kennedy threw himself on his wife's right shoulder, because bending over did not hinder the trajectory of the fourth bullet that almost grazed him hitting the governor, and because the shot was fired by Nicoletti from the window of the Dal Tex Building and reached the governor, because Kennedy was leaning towards his wife. So, not only does the first missile reveal where the shot really came from, but also what hit Connally. Indisputable and real evidence, but unfortunately denied by many, including the Warren commission which veiled so much evidence.

My all-time favorite movie because it had it all. I just hope that newer information will be added regarding the shots from the front left of the limo that pierced the windshield and most likely entered JFK's throat; and the fatal head wound as described on UA-cam by Sherry P. Fiester in her book "Enemy of the Truth." Shots were fired from the grassy knoll as most people know but they missed the president's head. JFK was facing down and slightly to the left away from the grassy knoll. If JFK had been struck in the right temple from that direction, the bullet would have exited the area of his left temple. The bullet would not have made a drastic left turn to exit the right rear area. In my research for Dealey Plaza - The End of Camelot, I went to Swarthmore College Library’s Ruth Paine section. I spent three mornings reviewing Oswald’s information.
I viewed a rough draft of a letter Oswald had scribbled on a plain piece of paper that Ruth Paine had found in her house. It was a strange, rambling letter with uneven margins all broken up, revealing a confused state of mind.
I have studied people’s handwriting most of my life. His handwriting was unclear, meandering across the page, very childlike, a scribble in places, unsteady with no continuity. His grammar poor. A bizarre letter - wandering, nonsensical.
What engrossed me was his “Signature Block.” It was a jumble that screamed an indescribable horror leaping out at me from the page, frightening me, captivating me for minutes. It was like looking into hell only worse. I saw the “Embodiment of Evil,” a horrifying numbing experience, a horror beyond description.

Stone's 1991 movie is packed with so many *demonstrable* lies (over forty important ones) it would take all day just to list them all.
He only pandered to the conspiracy-mongers, only listened to pro-conspiracy stories during production, made heroes into villains and villains into heroes. His happily portraying the cops who risked their lives doing their duty to capture Oswald alive in the theater, even when he tried to shoot one of them, as being dirty liars complicit in a conspiracy, is simply beneath contempt.
