    This is my all time favorite Chevy ever made!! I dont exactly know why, I just love the look of the 63! A one year only body style that is unique and beautiful in my opinion!!

    I'm only cringing because I'm 62 and I do this for a living, and a Chevy man for life. It hurts me to see younger people go thru what I do to these cars every day, when they are not accustomed to. I commend you on your work! Great car ! Ive had a couple of them!

    My first new car was a 63 Impala SS. I ordered it from the factory with the 300 hp 327 engine. 4 spd. trans, 4:11 posi rear end. And 5 factory chrome wheels. Total cost, $3502.69. Not much more than a cart of groceries. Fastest 1/4 mile time, 105 mph in 13.56 sec. Never beaten on the streets. Loved eating up the Mustangs. The day I picked it up, I took the 327 emblems off and put 283 emblems on it. That used to really piss off the Ford guys. Getting beaten by a 283. LOL.

    This should be at least the 300hp 327, being an SS. IIRC, there was also a 350hp version, which, being an SS this could be, and I think the 375hp would have been the fuel injected version. My dad had a 63 Impala that he would race on the weekends. Several guys had ordered them as weekend warriors. There were enough of them that the local drag strips had a class called "Chevy 300" for the 300hp 327 Impalas. A reasonably budget friendly way to drag race back in the day.

      Shouldn’t the heads be camel humps for 300+? It looks like an old truck motor got dumped in it. Just my experience with 327’s.

      300 horse also had mandatory dual exhaust. This car did not. Also no double hump heads,and it should have had a factory carter AFB.

    • @jamesfarmer3775
      @jamesfarmer3775 2 місяці тому

      @@davidgalvan3645 That's what I would have thought too, and I didn't see humps on this one. Seeing as how I'm an Aug. '62 model myself, and the car would have been built somewhere from about that time until I was maybe 9 month old, I only VERY vaguely remember the car. I do know it was ordered with a 4-speed and posi. It was delivered without the posi, so that was installed by the dealer. I think they would let them jet the carb and play around like that a little, but not do anything internal, so that it was basically down to driving skill among guys with the same car.

    On that starter solenoid, all you have to do is turn that copper bolt 180 degrees to pick up a whole new surface and if possible turn that copper contact washer over too. A very cheap fix for a starter that won't engage. Oops, I guess I didn't wait long enough into your video.

    I had a 64, same color as that one. 283, power glide. Leave the power glide in! Don't swap it out. The frame on yours is nice. LP3 is a great corrosion preventative. Spray inside that damn box frame. They are notorious for rot. Do inside the rear fenders and pull the upholstery next to the back seat. Spray LP3 in there. From there you can get into the rocker panels. The spot under the door is open to the rear window compartment. Spray inside the lower rear edge of the trunk lid. If your tail lights screw up, check the grounds. The old sockets were not so good. I'm watching and have fun. These are nice cars. Oh, put power brakes in it, easy job. Power steering isn't hard either. Stay stock.

I've had it for 40 years or so and haven't decided if I like driving with the 2 SPD. yet. 🤷‍♂️ When I was younger I considered a big block with a 4- speed, but it never happend.The Powerglide is cool in it's own way.

    I love 63 Chevies, I own a Belair for 42 years and an Impala: The one circle brake system was standard at the time. My Impala had neighter power steering nor power brakes. The steering was updated the power brake will be put in soon. At least you have space for a huge battery. My fullsize Pontiacs do not have this space for a very big battery. My stupid standard phrase is: Of course it will run, it's a Chevy. And I am nearly always right: Time to watch on to see if I am right this time.

    You should let us hear the sound from the back of the car. You need to change your oil and you could put JB weld on the little hole on the radiator and check the brake fluid! What is the oil for? Did you even check it? And you could get 415 and paint it over to rust it will stop it and it will make the car look a lot better.

      There's some degree of irony in calling someone a fool and then proceeding to make a number of false claims yourself. The car clearly has a powerglide, so I'd love to know where you're finding the extra gears. Further, there was no 325HP option for the 327 in '63. The only 327 options were the 250HP and 300HP. The power pack heads as seen in the video are correct for the 250HP, as is the single exhaust.
