Oh, YESS!!!! So true!!!! Thank you, thank you! Watching this, to me Dorian was actually the hero. Dorian was new money in contrast to old money Viki and the old money Buchanons. Viki was passive-aggressive while Dorian was more open in her aggression. I just love, love how Dorian tells it like it is and calls Viki out on her BS and hypocracy. I love Dorian, period.
@@bigal650: Definitely!!!! Dorian is great here. I love that fire and sarcasm she has. Dorian has her faults, but unlike Viki and Sloan, she owns up to her faults.

LOL...this is so funny. Sloan and Viki were completely oblivious to the feelings and moods of everyone around them, so they were totally flabbergasted that Dorian was angry with them.
Dorian's smile and that hairstyle so sexy it suits her so well...on OLTL now the character I can't stand is Clint, he's turning Matthew into a carbon copy of himself, also putting David in the Morroccoan prison, and his denying Rex his own son....what a prick.
5:50...Viki is so self-absorbed that she actually believed that Dorian "followed" her to the ski resort even after Dorian mentioned that she'd been holidaying there for a week. Dorian was so right on the money...pun intended...when she tells Viki sarcastically, _My, we really are the center of the universe._ 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And Dorian was absolutely right...Viki is self-centered, not to mention very spoiled.
It's funny and amazing that both Sloan or Viki were oblivious to Dorian's presence right in front of them. You'd think that if Sloan and Viki were as smart as they proclaimed themselves to be, they'd have recognized Dorian's short, skinny form and her mannerisms.
Robin played Dorian from 1993-2000, then again from late 2003 to August 2011. In 2011, the character Dorian left Llanview for a high senate position in Washington, DC. It was great to see Dorian escape the Buchanan lunacy. A brash introvert like Dorian was far safer in a big city like DC than a small town.
Elaine PRINCI was SHOCKED when her contract was not renewed . It was one of those friendship in the business gets you everywhere - New head writers and executive producers always bring their favorite actors that they have worked with before on other shows !
Viki said to Sloane "Oh, that's an exceptionally good idea". But on the next episode Viki says to Sloane " That's an extremely good idea." I'm surprised the writers didn't signal Erika to correct her mistake.
3:58...Sloan and Viki are so clueless that they don't recognize Dorian at all, even though Dorian's dark wavy hair is visible and that short, scrawny body of hers is close to them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@bigal650 Yes these were the character ruining years of OLTL. Viki an adulteress because her husband Clint turned into a homophobic/intolerant jerk (Billy Douglass SL because he thought Joey was Gay) Then later on completely destroying Bo and Nora and the Wreckaports (Rappaports) Sucky decade.
Elaine played a Dorian that was more lethal and less cartoon.. a worthy opponent to Vicki... while Strasser veered into Coyote territory when playing opposite Vicki (who was the roadrunner).
I first watched OLTL in August 1991. So Elaine Princi was the Dorian that I first watched. I loved the storyline that Dorian had with Asian Blair. I honestly prefer Elaine over Robin as Dorian. I think the 1995 D.I.D. storyline could have worked well with Elaine playing Dorian. I remember this Dorian was always antagonizing Vicki. It would have been great, if Jean Randolph would have locked up Elaine's Dorian in the secret room. When exactly was Elaine's last scene as Dorian?
Either one would have been good...Elaine's Dorian also would have been great surviving breast cancer, being wrongfully jailed and also swallowing fearfully as she locked up Viki-as-Tommy in the secret room also. Elaine and Robin both had beautiful big brown eyes that made them perfect as Dorian and both actresses were equally good.
No, because they literally fired her to bring back Robin Strasser. Robin has always been a high number drawer, especially in the early 90s. Robin said that she was actually horrified to learn that Elaine was fired because they brought her in under contract, not being renewed. ABC wanted Strasser, and she accepted. Remember back when they used to do fund daytime, they use to do audience favorability ratings for actors as well.
I think the audience preferred Robin Strasser and never liked Elaine Princi as she just wasn't meant to take over that role and I think she knew it. They should have never recast the role
Well, you can think that if you want... but that's not what happened. Elaine Princi was actually a very popular recast, to the point that most of the soap press & viewers expressed shock when she was let go. (Nobody said, "oh, good!") Strasser approached OLTL at the end of Elaine's contract with her interest in returning, after she had entered negotiations with GL to play Alexandra Spaulding. The subsequent transition wasn't easy for everyone, as viewers wrote-in to magazines to express surprise that they were not liking the direction Dorian is heading under Strasser, and they unexpectedly found themselves preferring Elaine's deeper, more calculated version. Princi had also recently & powerfully portrayed the Addie / revelation of Dorian's childhood abuse storyline - probably Dorian's deepest moment to date. (That would be revisited with Strasser a few years later.) My feeling is that Dorian initially played way too much to Strasser's more over-the-top delivery; the character's newfound penchant for 24/7 scenery-chewing was backfiring. Strasser herself went on to lament this in the press, and asked for better storylines. They gave her a breast-cancer scare arc that started & ended rather quickly. In the midst of this, she sort of threw light shade at Princi in one interview, saying "with all due respect to the actresses that have played this role, Dorian is more than just Cassie's mother." (Of course, Dorian WAS more than just Cassie's mother - and even if she wasn't, that's not the fault of an actor.)
Roman Seano Wow. Robin was in talks to play Alexandra Spaulding? I don’t think I’ve ever heard that. I would have loved to see her in that role. To me Beverlee McKinsey was irreplaceable but I think Robin could have taken Alexandra to new places. And she had great chemistry with Michael Zaslow from when he was on OLTL. I’ve always thought Marj Dusay was terrible as Alexandra, but I’m just not a Marj Dusay fan, I’ve never liked her in any role she’s had. However I would have loved to see Robin Strasser play Alexandra Spaulding.
Roman Seano Can you tell me then, why she was let go. Was it just that Robin wanted to come back and they just decided to shove Elaine out? Usually when a recast works, it doesn't happen that easily. Can you give more detail on this?
Cher Cher Elaine Princi was assured by the producers that her job was safe after Robin Strasser had been spotted in the production offices. They told her Robin was just visiting . So when Elaine was dropped she went running to the soap press to complain that she was lied to and blind-sided and never saw this coming. This did not sit well with the folks at the Psychic Friends Network where Elaine was the new celebrity spokesperson, assuring one and all in their infomercials, that she knew everything in her life that was going to happen before it happened thanks to her daily talks with her psychic friend. Too funny. She ended up losing that gig too.
@@TheMrboogity Well, if that is why happened then it was a real shame for her. I can only imagine that she must have been very hurt and angry to lose that job. To save nothing of the money she was making . . .oh boy! What really surprises me is that she never showed up acting on another soap anywhere else. I wonder why?
LOL...Viki and Sloan made plenty of trouble for themselves even without Dorian. They really need to stop blaming Dorian for their own immaturity, hedonism and foolishness.
Actually, you might be surprised to learn that Robin was offered a contract renewal to stay with oltl. But by then, they wrote the horrible dorian killing Jessica's baby story, killed Mel, and sent Cassie back into a hospital. Strasser was furious and didn't re-sign. I don't blame her. JFP ordered Mel's death because she couldn't stand the character. But also one thing JFP hated was Robin told her fans everything and that got her in trouble. So when they ended the blacklist of Strasser, she wasn't offered her 99 rate. She was the first to take over a 50% pay cut, and they kept cutting. By the time her last contract renewal in 2009, she was only making 33% of her 1999 pay.
