I love quite a few bands. But no one can deny The Beatles really have something unique. I cannot get bored with listening to them after more than 4 decades.
There is something very special about this song….. the lyrics and the fact that is the last song of the last Beatles album. At least it was this way in the original edition of the album.
That was a lovely reaction. Fun Fact. This was the very last Beatles single. Released in June of 1970, a full 15 months after it was recorded and 2 months after Paul went public with the news that the Beatles had broken up. I love your Beatles reactions Cynthia. Thank you for sharing them with us, RNB
Hi bb. Hated may be an understatement!! You know Capital Records here in America never saw a Beatles release they didn't like. Regardless of what the Beatles thought or felt about it. Something tells me Paul still deposited his The Long And Winding Road royalty checks anyway, Cheers RNB
Nothing at all like "I Am The Walrus", lol. John Lennon's "Across The Universe " is from this same album and it too is a song that will give you peace and calm! THANKS SO MUCH!!☮☮☮
Paul intended this to be much simpler. It was mixed with the orchestral and choral backgrounds without his knowledge and when he heard it he hated it. Tou bad because I love it.
Great reaction…I love it. You really haven’t heard The Beatles or got the full Beatles affect till you’ve heard every song. You’ll eventually get there little by little. Brand new world with every new song you discover.
It's such a great song and forever surrounded by controversy. McCartney wasn't a fan (to say the least) of the production applied to it. He created it as a piano ballad. Regardless, with this and Let It Be, McCartney created two of the most classic songs there are. With your understanding of The Beatles, you're ready to watch the movie Yesterday. 🙂
Many Beatle fans who had the original single love this version, as I do. I think the stripped-down version just sounds unfinished and even a bit lame in comparison. I like and prefer all the Phil Spector-produced song versions on "Let It Be." If Paul and the other Beatles didn't, they should have taken a more active role in the finished product.
@@porflepopnecker4376 I agree with PMC. Spector makes it sound so cheap. His "wall of sound" was just another term for overproduced. Tasteless American whipped cream IMO.
@@stevedotwood Spector did what he could with a very basic primary run through with a middling to decent vocal but some tragic bass playing by Lennon, Spector's share of the blame should possibly be lower than it is.
@@porflepopnecker4376 I agree. I'm surprised Paul didn't like the production. It's really a beautiful treatment to this song that seems like it's fitting. Maybe because it's the only version I know, I can't imagine it any other way idk. But I love it.
It was not released here in the UK as a single because McCartney hated Phil spector's over production of it especially the addition of the singing choir!
Wonderful reaction to this classic. This was the album version that was produced by Phil Spector. In my opinion, the best version appears on the "Let It Be Naked" album, without the strings and horns.
Thank you, Cyn, for another great reaction to a Beatles classic! From the same Let It Be album you should consider reacting one day to "Across The Universe" and "Two of Us", which are two more great Beatles songs!! I wish you much continued success with your channel!!
This is the album that almost wasn't. The sessions, typically referred to as 'The Get Back Sessions', were marred by the deteriorating relationships within the band. It was also hampered by the constant presence of a film crew who had one set of daytime hours while the Beatles preferred working at night. They, mostly John and George, were not happy having to come in 'like a job' at 8 AM, etc. By the end of the sessions and the legendary rooftop concert, they were sick of the tracks and put them on a shelf with no idea what to do with them. Then they proceeded to recording 'Abbey Road'. Much later, John got Phil Spector to come in and try to piece together an album out of the shelved tracks. Paul was apparently not too aware of what was going on because of their band dysfunction. After he heard what Phil did to this track, he was livid. Frankly, I like what Phil did. I've heard what Paul intended on bootlegs and other sources. It had a bipolar quality that doesn't seem to gel for me. Anyway, Paul must have gotten over his problem with the production because he tends to imitate it in concert.
Hey Cynthia this is very different to "I am the Walrus" and is such a wonderful song. Really this band could turn their hand to any music style and made it sound amazing, so diverse. It is a long and winding road from the simple love songs they started with. Great reaction and thank you.
Cynthia, I don't know how I missed this one but wow, another great Beatles song and a fabulous commentary by you. You definitely were keeping it real and I appreciated your reaction all the way around. Hope you are well! And here's to your next reactions! 🙏🙂💜
Oh, my dear Cynthia... what a lovely and beautiful reaction this was. Thank you so much for reacting to my suggestion again. I love this song as much as you do and I love the fact that it brought peace to your mind... sometimes we all need these moments where we can just sit down, relax and let everything out of your head, heart and soul, that worries us in any way. This is the most powerful ability, music has. Enjoying this reaction video together with you is truly a wonderful experience... :-) Hugs and kisses from your friend Gerry PS : And yes, Randy Baker is right... you should definitely watch the movie "Yesterday" :-)
You really love Paul's songs. John and George wrote great ones too. Check out Across the Universe, by John. And please watch Fiona Apple's amazing version - even better than The Beatles! (Hard to believe, but true.)
I believe you are now a McCartney freak , he'll be there for the rest of your life . Try some solo stuff : Maybe I'm Amazed , Little Lamb Dragonfly , Listen To What The Man Said , Let Em In . And I agree that Spector's schmaltzy production really spoils LAWR .
I hope you'll find the "naked" version without Phil Spector pissing his orchestra all over it. The beauty of Paul's piano is smothered. It's still beautiful, but the simple version remains an easy favorite for me.
Maybe it is a love song.. I doubt it. To me it always conjured up a feeling of nostalgia or longing for the past. A reflection on you childhood. A looking back on your life. A combing through the thousands of memories and images of you mind. A wondering if it all makes sense or not.

This version of McCartney's The Long & Winding Road ended up, along with most of what would eventually be the Let It Be movie & LP, on shelves gathering dust. During the legal hassles that plagued the Fab Four around this time, John gave all the audio tapes to producer Phil Spector. Imagine Paul's horror/anger when he learned his piano song had been pumped full of corny orchestral choirs of angels & harps & heavenly glee clubs. Spector overproduced the entire record. There are records now of these same songs but done more in the style of previous Beatles albums & NOT Spector's.
The Beatles may be the most diverse group, ever. They have so many styles, and moods. Each song is unique.
My thoughts exactly. Growing up at that time you never knew what was coming next whereas most other groups had a specific style (The Stones etc)
The Beatles are their own genre!
The Beatles FINAL #1 Hit! What has happened to MUSIC?! This was TOP 40!!
THE greatest songs by The Great Great Beatles
Listen to the composition, horns, strings, vocal background harmonizing. Perfect.
Fantástico, jamas volverán a existir otro grupo como ellos. Fueron un regalo del universo para hacernos la vida feliz❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

The GREATEST BAND that will EVER be
The lasting beauty of this song is found in the orchestrations. The strings, horns, and placed a just the right moments. Beautiful. A masterpiece.
Paul's mother died when he was young. I've always felt that this song was for her.

Pay attention to the interpretation of the phrase 'let me know the way'...it makes me cry every time I hear it. Paul is God.
blasphemy
No, Paul is not God, God is God. Paul is a human being with an amazing God-given talent.
Those Beatle melodies are so special and unforgettable.
For No One please, it's a masterpiece 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Nice. Not a song that is often reacted to. Cheers from Canada
So true about how The Beatles knew how to put you in a certain state of mind, loved the video!

I suggest 'I Need You', an early George Harrison song. One of his best.

To me, this song represents the end of The Beatles.
Exactly what I was going to say. It feels like goodbye.

Phil Spector did the orchestral arrangements and final production. McCartney disliked it. I think it's far better than McCartney's basic vision of it.
One of the reasons is to hide lennon' s bad bass line
Let it be... Naked version is the best.
It’s a very pretty thing.
I prefer the simpler version without all the orchestration, more what Paul wanted it to be like

There is a reason we fell in love with the original.
song by paul.... about john loss of friendship and beatles
Recorded long before they did Abbey Road so I think you may be wrong
Perhaps, inspired by his mothers' death that took place a long, long time ago.

Beautiful song even though McCartney hates this version.
He sings to john. Why can it be like it used to. Beatles are breaking up here...
