    Good idea but you better use silcone or tube and tile caulking in the seam in the tub. Tub well rust if you do not seal the tub seam at the bottom.

      We do to. It's been in for a while and the basin looks as good as the day it was installed.

    The water needs a way to get to the drain. Saw somebody place crosshatching of wood around hole underneath then used a malet to bang a baseball into the hole until the sink became a bit more concave so water would go down. This means maybe not making the hole so big to begin with, otherwise, it may endup being too big.

      With the metal being thin, I was able to pull it down in the center with the drain when I tightened it up from below and it drain well.

    Hi, I'm trying to redo a beverage tub sink that was done incorrectly. Just a couple of questions:1) the whole that is drilled into the wood is 2". How big should I drill the hole into the galvanized tub that works with the already drilled hole and the drain you suggested. PLEASE HELP

    How do you get the water to drain because bottom is flat and water stays in the bottom?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  Рік тому +1

      On the bottom of the wood top I installed a large washer on the drain. When I tightened that drain nut against the bottom of the top it pulled the drain collar in the basin down, allowing the water to drain to the center.

    How did you get the sink hole to concave? My excess water kinda sits there and I have to use a cloth to soak it up. Thanks

      Hi,
      when I install our it did the same thing. So I got a large hose clamp and installed it on the drain under the vanity, Pulled down on the drain slid the clamp up tight against the wood and tightened the clamp, and it held the center down.
      If I could have had a dry run on the sink install. I would have drilled the hole just big enough for the drain. And then used the nut to pull down the sink to the top.
      Thanks for watching.

    Congrats on a nice build!
    I'm in the midst of a similar build and had a couple of questions.
    - would it be ok to install and tighten the nut below the wooden top? My plan was to use that to keep the bucket in place.
    -if not a good idea, how is the caulking to fix the sink in place holding up for you?
    - i didnt see how you slope the bottom of the sink for drainage, and how you recessed the lip of drain pipe. Was it needed?
    Thanks and great build again!

      Hi
      That won't be a problem, if you silicon the drain in the basin. So what I did on the drain to gain slope is, I had a large washer that was larger than the hole in the wood and I tightened an additional nut against that and the wood down below, so when I tightened the nut it pulled the center of the basin down. As far as the caulking it is holding up great.
      Let me know if you have any questions or I wasn't clear on the drain, I'll be happy to answer them.

    Wondering what to treat with so it doesnt rust or leak? Also could you share a video of water running in sink. Qondering about the splash when it hits the bottom of sink? Does it plash out allover wall and sink or is it good. Cant wait to try!!!

      Great suggestion of showing water running - it doesn't splash at all!! Since it is a galvanized tub, it won't rust. We LOVE this sink - easy to clean too!

    While this looks great you have no overflow drain. I was trying to figure out a way to do this and include an overflow drain so it can't be overfilled and ruin the counter, floor or whatever. Have you considered this?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  Рік тому

      Vessel sinks don't have overflow drains.

      @@DIYOnTheHouse That doesn't mean they couldn't have one, I am trying to find a design that could work. I have a few ideas.

    I used a smaller tub like that in our bathroom. I've noticed that, after five years, it's rusting. The bottom is flat so water sits too long. I need to rectify this.

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  Рік тому +1

      I was able to get some tension on the drain so it would have slope and it drains well with no water left.

    • @kikikaakau-delizo8152
      @kikikaakau-delizo8152 Рік тому

      That's good. I wish I could do the same. I'll probably need to use red guard, etc to create a slope. Great video!
