Can The Car Trek Maserati's Lack Of Oil Pressure Be Fixed?! No Pressure, No Problem!

- I have pressure issues. But I'm still gonna send it.
Ever since I first acquired the Car Trek Maserati from @tavarish, it has had an oil pressure issue. It seems to have oil pressure, but the gauge is always reading 0 psi... Which is concerning.
Luckily, when I received the pallet of parts for the Maserati, one of the parts included was a new oil pressure sender. Today, I attempt to replace it.
For what its worth, the BMW makes for an ok tool bench.
Thanks for watching!

Hah, the Buick also has a faulty oil pressure sender, except it reads max instead of min.
I bet your sender is easier to get to!
And alot cheaper!! Oh wait, yours was included with the parts....... never mind!! LOL
I think the festive shirt is why you succeeded on the second day.
Scott, I think you’re right. The seasonal cat shirt was the secret behind my success.
Didn’t know I needed a Genesis long sleeve until today
It’s a sweet shirt right?!
Car Wizard and Ninja should just resign at this point now, who knew a Notary could wrench like this!

It’s the only way to describe it lol
Great working with your father and your uncle today, Elliott! It’s amazing how many people it can take to replace a “simple” sending unit.
Good stuff doing some of the work yourself. I like how you’re not afraid of what you don’t know.
No sense in faking it and being wrong! Thanks for watching TJ!
Good video buddy! Wish you all the best for your channel mate!
Thank you sir!
The way that you do things you will appreciate it much more. You are a Great man.
Thank you so much Anthony!
Excellent work getting this done man! I definitely see some more homemade specialty tools with this car in the future ;)
I think you’re right! This won’t be the last tool customization that occurs for this vehicle 😂
I enjoyed every aspect of this video Elliot thank you
That’s good to hear! Thanks William!
Amazed to see an analog odometer on a late 2000's car. Great job on this DIY fix it video.
Yeah it’s cool that it’s all analog! Thanks for watching Brian.
Hey Elliott, I'm glad that you got your oil pressure issues resolved!!! I hope that you have equally good luck solving your bathroom pressure issues!! LoL. I do like your custom work bench too. Thanks for sharing another exciting video!!! 🎅🤶🎄 Ho Ho Ho
Thanks Christopher! Your continued support means a lot! 🎄
Glad to see it coming along!!!
Thanks man! Making progress little-by-little!

Thank that uncle of yours. Great vid.
He’s the man! Thanks for watching Sara!
Recently found you through JR and Hoovie, awesome videos. Couldn't help but notice the tighty whities, do you always wear them? Looking forward to future videos!
I’m a tighty whities man for now. Unless I get a sponsor that says otherwise 😂
I love that BMW nice cars keep the videos coming 👍
Thanks Gary!
Great video !
Happy Saturday Elliott!

Cats rule! Thanks Mike! Appreciate it.
Humble suggestion for the BMW tool bench & its treacherous slope creating a runaway surface for the tools.
Use a folded towel or blanket to create a semi-enveloping surface. 😇
Congratulations on the win! It's a good feeling.
That’s a great suggestion! I’ll have to try that next time. Thanks! And thanks for watching!
11:13 reminds me of: "Out with the old... AND IN WITH THE NEW!!!"
Haha, yes!
Love the shirt👍
Thank you! One of my favorite systems
Fine work, Elliott! It must be an automotive UA-camr thing to run your car inside a closed warehouse. All the big UA-camrs do it. My carbon monoxide detector would be screaming in my shop if I did that. Maybe that's why I'm still a small auto UA-camr. Also, the BMW workbench is excellent! Just modify the cardboard benchtop with an old blanket or towel and the tools will stay put.
I opened up the doors and turned on and exhaust fan after the car ran. But here in Kansas the only carbon monoxide limit is your conciseness 😂. Great suggestion for my BMW workbench, I’ll have to try that!
Here in Kansas, carbon monoxide poisoning is a feature not a bug.
You missed the opportunity to play the song “Under pressure” in the background 😂😂😂
I would’ve if UA-cam didn’t have a vendetta against copyright protected music! Lol
@@ElliottAlvis That's a terrible shame. It's a great song.
Love the Sega Genesis shirt!
Yes you are my...Friend great job...THANKS
Thank you Steve!
Cool shirt! My second hobby, retro gaming.
Awesome! Your username checks out lol.
the maserati sounds SO good
Dude, you’re telling me!
and this is why I cuss out automotive engineers almost daily. This is a common failure item on EVERY ICE. Doesn't matter if it's a 4 cl Honda or a 1968 429 cobra jet. My issue is: it can be placed anywhere in the oil passage. Even right next (and I mean RIGHT next) to the oil filter.
Now with that being said: if that oil passage it is connected to is the oil AFTER it's gone through the heads, then it IS in the correct spot. Since pressure is only the measure of resistance to flow, if it was at the front of the oil passage before the heads, the heads could be starving for oil and if an oil passage feeding them was plugged, you'd think you were fine but you weren't. If it's after the heads received their dose of oil, then you know they're good.
You’re exactly right. Either way, it’s a PITA to replace!
To be fair the placement here does reduce electric wire runs
@@mark1A100 yeah but that's kind of like saying gonorrhea is better n the syph....
At least you mentioned your uncle this time!
Right? Next step is to get my dad and uncle to be willing participants in a video lol
You would probaly have to get a C3 Corvette project car for that to happen.
Do you get the right of first refusal on the Rolls? Perfect as it also is missing parts of interior.
Fun video!! Working out at planet fitness while watching this video !
Haha, that’s awesome! Thanks man.
Awesome cat shirt!
7:14 to 7:16 where did your uncle go ? 😃 He seems like such a nice guy helping out.
He’s the best! He just doesn’t actively want to be in the videos lol
Great car.
Thanks Gavin!
to check if the pressure gauge works put it into 5th gear and edge it with the clutch and throttle just so it doesn't shut down, drop the rpm and watch the gauge. if it works as the engine nears shut off the oil pressure will drop
That’s a good check! I’ll have to try that out. Thanks!
Resale value increased ✅
Haha, here’s hoping!
You should leave more of your outtakes in the original show. :D
You think?
@@ElliottAlvis Yeah!

I also have pressure issues Elliot
It happens to the best of us! 🤷🏻♂️
Hi elliott!
Hello Doctor! 🥼
You prolly know this but I bet your theft mode kicks in bc you need a special wiring harness for your stereo. My grand prix takes a certain harness bc the anti-theft device is ran through the radio. Food for thought: congrats on the buy !
Thanks man! Yeah I had a strong feeling that the car is crying for its stock head unit. Which I would like to replace one day. Thanks for watching!
@@ElliottAlvis Have you looked to see if this can be fixed w a proper harness ? If so bet it's pricey ! I'm really enjoying the channel, I subscribed.
Your Uncle has the Old Guy superpowers
That explains it! 😂
Good job
Thank you!
@@ElliottAlvis keep doing what your doing, like a lot of people, can work on cars a little bit and you doing small parts changes is good, leave the hard stuff to the pros
@@awh3399 that’s the plan! Thanks man.
Have you decided what you're going to do with the outside of the car? Paint? Wrap? Tie-Dye?
I’m keeping the wrap for now because it’s what makes it recognizable
I need updates on this project
I like the BMW tool bench, though, my '67 Plymouth Fury tool bench works a little better. It's twice the size and isn't sloped. ;-)
Ah, yes the Fury tool bench has quite the advantage not being sloped. 😂
You sir need way more subs then u have
Well thanks! Tell your friends! 😂
Getting that sender out like pulling teeth!
Lol you couldn’t be more right! 🦷
Yeah, I don't panic when an oil pressure reads zero...I have a ford....it cacked out 3 years ago and had it checked, it was the gauge/idiot light in the dash the OP was fine.....
Yep! Similar situation here.
You should on wrap it and see the original paint
I’ve got pictures of how it looked without the wrap. But the wrap is what makes the car recognizable!
@@ElliottAlvis ohhhh ok
Please vacuum the fire extinguisher powder up. It will corrode your metal and maybe cause your copper on your wires to corrode to. You may be safe not doing it in the midvest but if you go more north you are gonna have a bad time. It will also damage any chrome plating it will come in contact with. Had a person empty a 18kg extinguisher on a car I have in storage and all the bumpers need to replated with new chrome now (it was a break in and they vandalised my cars)
Oh my goodness I didn’t realize it could cause damage. That’s awful that happened to you! Thank you for the heads up.
Man, is that some piece of Bastion soundtrack on 4:10?
It could be! It’s royalty free, whatever it is lol
Is it possible to clean the fire extinguisher residue off the engine
I’ve cleaned a lot of it but this hard to reach stuff will probably be here until the engine comes out.
Oil pressure is good now, but that clutch needs a fixing.... and why no head liner?
Clutch is happening soon. And the headliner needs to have the fiberglass patched, then I can install it. It’s been missing since day one.
Just do a Wizard style engine out and take care of all the gremlins and clean up the fire extinguisher spunk.
That’ll probably happen one of these days. I’m trying to avoid that as long as possible though lol
@@ElliottAlvis that is the wrong attitude lol just get it over and done with
No worries! It's a racecar! Oil pressure is overrated! Going fast is more important!
You’re right!
The Maserati manual calls for an engine out service to change that pressure sensor.
I bet you’re right 😂
Gotta get that book time up there
With a engine out.
Good thing his dad and uncle told him to make a tool.
What is this warehouse he does all his videos in?
Put simply, it’s the warehouse I do all of my videos in!
A whole video just to do one tiny little oil pressure sender my time felt threatened😂😂😂
Well, it was quite the job!
Know what this means? Hoovie is going to call you to help him fix things. Cause he's got the Car Ninja and Car Wizard so busy already.
Oh no, I don’t need that! Lol 😂
Sometimes tools must be modified and things reengineered to make things work.
That is certainly the truth with this job!
I’m struggling to understand the cardboard on the hood of the BMW; were you afraid you were going to hurt the patina?
Also, explain the nail puller in your tool pile. Is it a factory Maserati nail puller or did you buy a cheap, Hazard Fraught nail puller?
Also, please get the hazard lights fixed.
The cardboard was just a joke because the hood is already messed up. I don’t really remember there being a nail puller in my tool pile, but I could be wrong. And I also would like to get the hazards fixed. But for now, they add to the car’s character.
The most handsome midwestern youtube host
Well thanks!
Mine is reading max instead but then some days it stays low alsoooooo lol I hope this is my only issue :)
It's an ///M Tool Bench not just an ordinary BMW Tool Bench...
Oh true! I should’ve emphasized that.
They probably put thicker oil in . change the oil
So how do you become a notary public in the states?
Requirements vary from state to state. In Kansas it was fairly easy.
@@ElliottAlvis so my guess was right, they just pick a random Guy from the Line in Walmart or Costco 🤣😉
What is a note republic?
Lol I might start calling it that from now on 😂
New Balance sneakers, mandatory shop gear
Will, I couldn’t have said it better myself. They are essential footwear.
@@ElliottAlvis I'll expect a link in the description next episode.
@@willbonnycastle1979 haha, I think I did put a link in the description when I first got this pair! Look at my Hellcat Carmax video lol
Maybe wrap the bmw?
That might be the best option for that car!
Grinded ? Is that the same as ground. lol
It’s a form of grind. I think? Lol 😂
Do the clutch now
Soon! I want it done too! Lol
This is America. You have the right to bare arms ...
Wah-waaaah *sad trombone noises*
Those bare arms gave me the extra range of motion that I needed
Need to train your cat to recover tools dropped under the car.
Now that would be handy! 🐈 🔧
A small piece of black electrical tape over the light will solve the problem. 2 min tops.
Oh dang. I should’ve just done that. You’re right Steven 😂
It takes a village
Indeed!
i don't think oil pressure should run at max..... you might be flooding the engine with oil.....
Thats what I thought as well, but it does go down once the engine is warmed up.
Ls swap that thing
For the love of God get rid of that wrap on the Maserati please looks so fast and furious
Because Racecar
It's so over the top, I actually love it
That’s what makes it recognizable as the Car Trek car though!
@@ElliottAlvis your right but still lol soo tacky 😂
Remove all of those ridiculous stickers please! Consider it weight reduction
Lol it might actually be a considerable amount of weight 😂

Good luck finding a channel where people don’t move their arms 🙄
@@ElliottAlvis No luck necessary- plenty of channels where people don't feel obliged to act like middle schoolers.
@@oldschool1993 I don’t even know what to say to that. You would actually prefer to watch someone be monotone and not put effort into presentation?
@@ElliottAlvis Who said anything about monotone- I'm talking about the adolescent jumping and arm waving, most probably followed by more silliness I avoided after the first 30 seconds. What's the point of your video? Is it to show some other guy with one of these cars how you can save money by doing your own work, or are you hoping some Hollywood producer will catch your comedy routine?
