After being confused how this game works and after 30 other videos, I finally understand the basics of how this game works thanks to this video thanks lol
Thank you for this playthrough. I know it's been years, but I've had Everdell on my shelf for years and I was too scared to touch it. All the hype, even now, made it daunting, but this playthrough helped a LOT. Just played it solo for the first time and won! 🏆 So thanks again, I'll be getting it on the table again very soon. 😄
I don’t own this game and never played it. Was just looking at this vid for research what next solo game I should get. I was able to understand everything that happened in this game thanks to how well you explain the game, how you zoom into every play you’re gonna make. And how you speak your strategies and zoom into every card you’re talking so that I can see it and read it. Also your cheery tone and mood soothes the experience of watching you play. I acknowledge the hard work that you must put into a video as you’re not only just playing the game, you’re taking your camera into the game too which could also distract your strategies or make you forget what was supposed to happen next, yet that never seems to happen to you. Good job and I’ll be looking at more solo plays from you!
Thank you so much for watching! Though believe me, sometimes filming and commenting absolutely DOES mess up my strategy or cause rules errors, but I do my best ;)
@@OneStopCoopShop ya man just bought this yesterday and I won on the easiest version of solo but I now realized I cheated after watching your video 😂 I didnt even realize you had to place a worker on the events to take them. Amazing video. Very well done.
Everyone says the tree is gimmicky and makes the game feel "over produced" but it really does help manage the huge deck. Especially if they're sleeved and likely to slip and slide.
Hey Mike! Great playthrough! I enjoyed it very much!! Love Everdell so thanks for showing the solo mode. I'll have to give it a go! One small thing. At 19:21 when preparing for Summer you should draw 2 Meadow cards. You drew 2 from the face down stack.
Great playthrough! I'm excited to play my version after Christmas and I will be sure to watch this one very closely to make sure I understand the nuances/dynamics of some of the cards.
My wife said I could buy one game for fathers day. After watching this playthrough I just had to get it. Thank you for the excellent playthrough! Now if only there were more frequent fathers day celebrations lol
At 19:23, you act surprised of the cards you drew from the meadow, even though meadow cards are face up which means you have a choice on which ones to choose. Did you draw these from the deck instead? And if so, why? The instructions say to draw two meadow cards.
One Stop Co-op Shop...you should edit your video to let viewers know you made that mistake as I was wondering the same thing. Beside that, I like the way you explain your playthrough. Good job!😀👍
Thanks for the play through Mike. The directions were missing a very important note that you clarified. Rugwort does not get a set of cards dealt to him. Printed instructions say to set up the game as you would for two players. Well, that would mean that Rugwort, assuming he is the #2 player, gets 6 cards in his hand. I was so confused by this.
At 7:55, you replace the empty 8 slot with the General Store. I understand that. Then suddenly the Shopkeeper shows up. Why? Did you put it in your hand as well?
Not sure if you've played Lost Ruins of Arnak? Gameplay seems to be similar in certain instances? Keen to hear your comparison (if you're familiar, that is).
Check the channel. I did a full playthrough and review. Definitely agree that they have similarities. Arnak is deck building instead of tableau building, and you use workers a bit more impactfully. I think I’d give Arnak the edge for solo. It’s not isn’t hard enough (though then have PNP expansions to fix that), but it’s still more interesting than Everdell’s, which plays cards too often in some cases
great play-through, thanks! Just two questions - it appears on your first turn that you made two actions - both gained resources by playing a worker and also gained that card from the meadow in slot 8 - Is the first turn unique and allowing those two actions together? Also, you grabbed the two basic events at the same time without allowing your opponent a dice-roll. Is that part of the rules or a miss-step on your part? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! The answer to both your questions is the same. Rugwort only takes a turn (rolls his die) after I play a card, NOT after placing a worker on the board. So on the first turn, I placed a worker first (no reaction) THEN played a card from the middle, triggering his reaction. Same for the basic events. Grabbing them with my workers did not involve playing cards, so he just had to sit and watch me :) Hope that helps!
On page 15 it says “any time after you play a card, Rugwort gets to play a card”. There is no mention anywhere in the rules about him responding to worker placement.
Not with the rules as written, but you could probably cobble something together, like doubling his points and playing 2-player co-op. Not sure about the upcoming solo in the new expansions either.
Nice to see someone else play it. The only thing is that you’re only allowed to have one unique construction (or critter for that matter) per category and you played multiple?
To clarify, are you saying I played more than one unique critter/construction with the same NAME? If so, that was definitely an error on my part. I’m not sure what you meant by “category”.

Good call
Thank you, I needed a refresher. It's been awhile since I played. This was perfect!

Good catch! Someone else posted this too, I think on BGG. Definitely could change up those final turns a bit.
@@OneStopCoopShop I also believe when you miner mole the card you pick is relative to YOUR city. aka the barge toad wouldn't give you 2 sticks
Ya well I mean I'm sure it gets quite confusing playing the game plus filming. He did an AMAZING job. Best iv seen for sure

Thanks! Hoping to do another one when the new solo expansion is released.
Such a great game. 😁 Thank you for the playthrough. 😀👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great solo play through of a fantastic game. Thank you for doing this!
Thanks for watching!

Great treat for you! Happy Father’s Day!
this looks like a great game now about to go on to KS to see if i can get the expansions and this
I'm probably pledging them myself. I especially like the look of the mountain expansion.

Yup, rules error on my part. I forgot it was cards from the meadow, and drew from the deck instead.

So when you prepare for summer do you draw two cards from meadow or from the deck?
Not sure if I did it right in the video (it’s years old), but the rules say the summer cards come from the meadow

Ah, glad I was able to help! I agree this should be clearer.
@@OneStopCoopShop I've just bought the game and the rules now state "You have a starting hand of 5 cards, and Rugwort does not have a hand of cards".
At 7:55, you replace the empty 8 slot with the General Store. I understand that. Then suddenly the Shopkeeper shows up. Why? Did you put it in your hand as well?
I see, I think the edit left out that you were looking at the Shopkeeper which was *already* in your hand.
@@NextFarley yeah, good catch. I must have gotten a little edit-crazy in that moment :)

@@OneStopCoopShop i was figuring out the same question too. from where does the rule book says that rugwort takes an action only after I play a card?
On page 15 it says “any time after you play a card, Rugwort gets to play a card”. There is no mention anywhere in the rules about him responding to worker placement.
oh i found it, it is at the 4th paragraph under Year I (Solo game rules)!
When you move to Summer, I thought you chose two cards from the meadow? Or is that not right?
You are correct.
Forgot to collect points for the Journey. That’s net an extra point.
Terry Chay you’re right! Take that, rat king! :)
@@OneStopCoopShop I collect journey points as coins whenever I place. Makes it easier.

I like the d8 to choose which card the AI builds. It's minimal fiddliness that more or less simulates another player.
It works better than it seems like it would! I get that little thrill of tension as I wait to see if they are going to steal that exact card I wanted.

As long as its not the exact same character you're fine
