My winner this year! Ollie didn't quite bring it, plus this song honours Kaarija's legacy in Eurovision in a much cleverer way. It effortlessly combines the old and the new, the folk with the electro and rap. The crowd were going crazy here! And it's in Estonian! Finally an entry that the Estonians can truly be proud of! This has MASSIVE televote potential ala Alcohol is Free or Moldova 2022, but it also should get a decent jury result! I think they could give Estonia it's best result since Say Goodbye to Yesterday!
PUULUUP is folk band, 2 members with instruments belong to this- Marko Veisson - uncle with low voice who is also anthropologist and Ramo Teder , also artist according to wikipedia. Rest of the 4 are band 5MIINUST, popular band in Estonia- Estoni Kohver, Päevakoer, Põhja-Korea ja Lancelot- they all use nicknames and have dark glasses. Dance is folk dance from Vormsi iseland.
The staging is copying the music video where the two gangs are fighting each other (or is it police vs druggies?). The lyrics of the song are basically preaching anti-substance and drug use.
I really wanted to dislike this song…but I failed…this is fun and could be even more epic if they develop a better stage performance that captures the chaos but also tells a story. Good luck Estonia!
