  • Finally fitted the All metal Single Speed gearbox to the WPL B36. This thing has a lot of torque now. Not the fastest of trucks, but the power is right where you need it! I'm going to try and fit a brushless motor to this truck, maybe the first Brushless WPL B36!
    This kit will fit all the WPL trucks, and the JJRC, Fayee etc..
    These cheap RC trucks are so much fun! And so many upgrades for them, they just keep getting better!

    What a spectacular difference your changes have made to this vehicle! What you´ve built is nothing less than a "disappointment-free" WPL!
    The two-speed gearbox is fun, but the metal one carries that strength through from the axles and props to give a truly sound drivetrain, the weights have dealt with the roly-poly problem and the soft tyres really do their stuff.
    This is now undeniably hobby-grade : )

      I can't think of anything else it needs now....apart from the 'New' centre Axle WPL have just made, it reduces the torque twist to pretty much nothing on that centre one. Now....they "may" be sending me some pre-sale items to test, so who knows..I may get one! Cheers for watching...as always 👍

    Awesome! I did the same motor upgrade on mine. I was new to the hobby and when I first put it in all the gears got loose and it just stopped working. I then discovered this liquid called "loctite" and took apart the motor and measures the shafts and put in the grub screws again using this "loctite" stuff. Let that stuff dry overnight. Then I stuff the motor with water-proof grease sealed it up and then re-installed in in my B36. Wow, this motor is great! Also, thank you for the heads up that the 2-speed has plastic gears, I was going to use a 2-speed in my EAT-001 (when that amazing 180 motor eventually burns out) or in the Q60, but I think I'll do the dual-370's that you did in another video. That was nice!

      Cheers dude, I think the weight lower down is a big plus, and with the added weight I've put in it, the thing is pretty stable! (even though it still wobbles about lol). I think the Quickrun ESC in it has enough to give it full power. If I can find a better 370 motor I'll defiantly be trying it again! • @TomleyRC

      If you use the plastic ones, make sure you glue them...or put a little screw in to help hold them on. The 370 has a lot of Torque, so it may break them quite easily!

    Outside of one being a kit, and the other the Ready to roll. What's the difference between the 2? For a couple dollars more you get the ESC,receiver board,Transmitter,battery and charger on the RTR. Is there a reason to get the kit besides just building it?

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 років тому +1

      On the B36...there is no real advantage to the Kit...apart from softer tyres. RTR is good value for money!

  • @TheActionBastard
    @TheActionBastard 5 років тому +1

    I know I am late to the party, but is there ANY idea what RPM/torque/gear ratio those 370s usually come with? I realize they're all probably a little different, but it does look like they have all used a similar spec motor and gearbox. If I'm going to replace this thing I'd kind of like to know what I am replacing rather than blindly guess with new motors until one works better. Sure, that'd work, but it would cost a ton and be annoying.

    • @TomleyRC

    I ordered this motor to upgrade my Wpl b 36, but unfortunetly its plagued with problems.
    Since day 1 ( test drive day ) after 20-30 minutes run time the metal gears inside the transmission box are constantly getting loose ( the drive shafts stop spinning but i can hear the gears inside working ). After an uncountable number of other run times, screws and unscrews to solve the problem ( with no avail ), i decided to glue the gears, but the problems still persist. im planning to keep the truck for decoration on my shelf

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 років тому +1

      Interesting that you say that. I had the same problem with mine. It seemed that after a few runs it then started to struggle with any kind of resistance and would just not go. I changed the motor...ESC...rebuilt the axels and nothing worked. So I bought an new Gearbox and that fixed the issue. But for how long I don’t know. I think it maybe that the bearing cups are slightly to big and it wears them a little with all the movement, and then after a while as there is so much play, it locks up under load....that’s my theory anyway!

      I pretty much upgrade them straight out the box. I've yet to burn out a motor on any. The 130 motors are not really worth the hassle as they are underpowered. My B36 is causing me the most issues, but then again, I do give it more abuse than it is designed for :)
