Not many stacker UA-camrs get into educational details like this.....MANY THANKS.
Extremely helpful video! I was literally thinking about the concept of buying culls just the other day!
FANTASTIC INFO, MUCH APPRECIATED. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! 🤙
Very cool to see how much is lost with wear and tear! Thank you for sharing!
Great info Silver Seeker! Thanks!
Another great informative video! Thanks for showing the numbers. Very helpful!
I have been mulling over the idea of buying cull coins. After this video I won't be
doing it. Thanks for another great informational video. It's much appreciated. 😊😊
Half dollars make more cents!
Thank you for the lesson. I still think Math is hard. LOL

Great vid.
How to buy silver coins/dollars:
Have a steady income
I prefer the Roosevelt dimes over the Mercs because of what you're saying in this vid. Some LCS will weigh your coins when you sell them. I don't stress out over the weight loss, but it could be a factor down the line. If you can get the LCS to sell by weight, your examples make it worth it. Thanks.
Thank you for the great explanation. The process is very understandable but I need to replay this video several times. Have to drill down on your calculations ... didn't catch all the math components.
Very interesting video - greetings from Europe 👋

Silver Seeker, First time I've watched this. Great video about silver loss with culls. A collector I know says cull Morgan/Peace dollars are still being melted. I think not since they still have more stacking value than sending in to be melted. What do you think? Do you know of any dealers sending in culls to be melted? It might make a fun video to call dealers or even refineries to see if there is much meltiing of junk silver or Morgan/Peace going on these days.
You can’t buy a cull for less than 30$ nowadays and price is 19.5$/ ounce
Silver Seeker talk faster next time LOL !! I've been collecting and hoarding and never really sold any of my coins as junk silver but I do have a few now so this came in handy once I replayed it several times LOL
@2.34 in the Video the the Morgan looks like a Carson City mint
I spotted an 1889 CC Morgan in your heavily circulated pile
I bought a cull morgan for $20 today from my lcs.
That is crazy how much is lost over time!
Right?
Good video! 👍 Using a tare of 26.73 would have made your loss assessment more fair.
That's wild, You don't realize how much lose there is.
Push the wrong button what happens to our slapped coins is it going to be just considered silver or will it retain its newsmatic value because if the economy does crash I'm wasting money buying slabbed coins unless they hold the value can you give me any help on this please
Thanks so much for a great video!!
So im buying cull from my lcs for 28 and 27 dollars. The culls im buying are much nicer than these. The face, hair and details on the eagles are pretty worn but the rest of the coin is in pretty good shape.
You said that you cant Nick-O-Date Morgans like the Buffalo nickel. I’m surprised and didn’t know that.
Why doesn’t it work on the Morgans?
Thanks for the information and video my friend.
Good question! I honestly don't know why it doesn't work... I assume it's because its a completely different metal. I just know it doesn't work on silver coins lol!
👍
👍
The silver doesn't go away just flattens you lose some in the smelting
That's incorrect... did you watch the video all the way through? The wear on the coin is actual silver loss.
Think that peace dollar only got 1 side
Seeker, My initials are jsj, and I didn't do it! Hehehe JJ
It’s illegal to melt Morgan’s buuuut it’s almost cost effective to buy them below melt and turn them to bars?
Its not illegal to melt them actually.
Silver Seeker interesting. I thought it was illegal to deliberately damage American currency. Need to fact check myself lol but what are your thoughts in making them into a Morgan Bar?
That would be kinda fun! But yea they made it legal in 1969.
All pre-1965 90% are legal to melt.
Pennies, nickels... NO
@ Correct :)
What happened to face x .715 ?
That's for dimes, quarters and half dollars. Silver Dollars have a bit more Silver per $
Would have never considered the weight!🥴
I've never even begun to think about buying junk like this! Even as a beginner, my lowest graded coins are MS 62. Unless you've gotten these for nearly half the price of current rate silver, it is absolutely counterproductive to consider these!!!
Wait so... you wouldn't buy these except at half Silver value? I get it not buying these as numismatic pieces but for just stacking Silver they're great!
@@SilverSeeker Not for me. I've moved up to MS 64 as my lowest grade I will buy. And I try not to even buy those grades. The numismatic values, far exceed the silver content value. In other words I can end up with a whole lot more value with these grades of coins than I ever will, with stackers! Am I spending a heck of a lot more? Absolutely! Rather sit on coins for 20 years, than 50 years. Again not saying that these are decent for stacking, but only if you get them dirt cheap! And I mean mud! Just my point of view.
@@freespirittransport5139 May not be for sure but even at 90% Silver Value they're super easy to just flip. But it doesn't sound like you're stacking, more that you're collecting. Which is great btw, absolutely nothing wrong with that! :)
Ur buying history
I think you mean 93s. 03s isn't that much in low grades.
Didn't I say 93-s?
@@SilverSeeker Nope. 8:17
I'll check later but even when I watched it back I thought I said 93s lol
Rofl omg I did! I def meant 93s hahaha
@@SilverSeeker I have an 03s that I'll sell you for $500. A bargain!
Once you figure out the math it's a breeze
Is it typical for this channel to insert commercials in a video this short?
I let youtube handle the ads on my videos
@@SilverSeeker I wasn't aware that's how that works. I was of the impression that the channel owner was responsible for the quantity and placement of commercials. Is that not true?
They CAN yes but youtube recommends letting them handle it so thats what I do
