- I've got some more TFA for you today! I'll be looking at the demo scenario from the Allied perspective and following SBD Dauntless dive bombers as they make their assault on the Zuikaku and Shokaku. As usual, the visuals will be stunning. I hope you enjoy the video and be sure to add this game to your Steam Wishlist if you haven't already (link is directly below).

I know it's a WIP, but I find it interesting how Thach's fighter squadron of 6 Wildcats during the Battle of Midway managed to distract +20 Zeroes and score a 4:1 kill ratio in their favor. And these Zeroes were bouncing on them one after another constantly like some kind of assembly line. And the TBDs that were being escorted only lost 1 aircraft before starting their attack run before being swarmed by Zeroes still defending from up high, and then the famous 5 minutes happened which I won't get into despite how awesome it was.
I think you need to understand this scenario here is not intended to be a recreation of the Battle of Midway whatsoever. It’s a proof of concept scenario to demonstrate the visuals and show that the project is proceeding and making progress. You’re looking far too deep into it.
@@jochenheiden I know it's not a Battle of Midway recreation (if anything it resemble Santa Cruz). However, I am interested in the idea of a small number of escorting fighters successfully distracting an overwhelming CAP so the bombers can get through.
Let’s follow the Wildcats on the next video and see what they actually get up to.
So, that actually did happen. From other videos, I counted around 40 Zero's that went up to intercept the American strike in this demo, and while the Zero's we see still chew up the first strike wave, the 9 Wildcat escorts will often distract at least half of the 40 Zero interceptors.
Shattered Sword does a good job painting a picture of just how disjointed the Japanese CAP was during the Battle of Midway
Hello sir... At 15:19, this would be a Takao- or Myōkō-class heavy cruiser (almost identical silhouettes)... And those SBDs were carrying what? A 500-pound and two 250-pound bombs? I'm not too familiar with aircraft ordnance.
Yeah I thought they were Kongos from a distance but as I got closer they appeared to be Myokos. As for the load out. I am thinking one 500 and 2 250s?
They look like Myoko-class judging by the forward superstructure.
@@adamtruong1759 agreed
They are Myoko and Haguro I believe
They do look like Myokos once I got closer.
Great!
Thank you!
