What Labour's Essex Launch Was Really About

  • Labour have now launched the next stage of their general election campaign. They've nailed down their main promises to the public. But how were those promises chosen, and why did they hold the launch in Essex? And was it a good idea to go before the election has even been called?

The stable economy rather than economic growth implicitly is a very green policy. The share market mantra that all companies must continue to increase their profits by a constant amount independent of size is exponential growth, which on a finite planet, is not sustainable. I personally blame America for shifting the emphasis of the *share* market away from dividends to quick share trades of rapidly growing mega companies.

Brexit has left my 6 counties on edge and left the Tories rudderless because the more people and goods travel easily across Ireland the more it angers some Unionists, whereas Nationalist politicians could fear a more permanent border to stop asylum seekers and that would rip up the Good Friday Agreement.

A thought has just occurred to me regarding a stealth rise in income tax. Before the Labour Government of the 1960's the Family Aloowance was nil for the first child, 8 shillings ( 40p) for the second child and 10 shillings (50p) for the third and subsequent child. This was paid to the mother. The father received a tax allowance for each child thus their tax payable was reduced. Many mother's did not receive the benefit of this tax reduction. So it was deemed a good idea to remove the tax benefit from the father and pay it to the mother weekly. Indeed a higher 🎉Child Benefit Payment was made for the first child and a lower one for subsequent children. The new payment payable to the mother was to ensure that the child would be more likely to receive the benefit of both Family Allowance and Tax Allowance. By removing child benefit after the second child the Tories have not only removed the Family Allowance Payment but the Tax Allowance as well. As I said yet another tax by stealth.

Has any of the businesses like Virgin delivered either?. How much did you pay for your last train ticket? Were you satisfied with the service and the jouney? Both have been tried in the past. But I still am not sure that allowing busineses to run wild works either. Many seem to see this as an open door to charge high but deliver low. If some things go back to state ownership at least there may some sort of accoutability. I dont know. I do know the public cant keep having a hand round their throat either with things like transport. Transport is a big thing because fares are a nightmare for many people. There are so many things that are run privately that arent delivering. Energy is a major concern weather you're an elderly person or a couple with children or business everything depends on energy. The public end up paying twice once when pay their bills again when they pay increased costs for cloths for their kids and many other things.
The recent days the water is another concern about private enterprise. They kept quiet about what needed to be done. A country like Britain should not be in a place where people have to boil water. Because the companies dont care about people. Its all about cost.

So Natalie Elphicke wants to reduce homelessness (or at least says she does... for the sake or argument lets assume that isn't just a campaign stance taken by a wealthy Tory who's never had to worry about homelessness but lives in a consistency where a big concern of voters is "I can't get a council house but I see you paying for immigrants to get hotel rooms) and lets also assume that one policy issue isn't just being totally blown up out of proportion to make it look like she has something in common with Labour compared to all her other horrible views that are fundamentally in disagreement... Why does Labour need to pay HER after the election and not the dozens of other people who probably have more experience with the issue and also had their views ignored by the government? Second, you will make money because most are listed and so poorly run there is only upside - step 1: set up public investment fund. step 2: quietly accumulate shares below fair value over time until you own a controlling / majority stake. They're LINO. 🙂 Starmer's slogan should be "Vote Labour - because we're all Tories now".

And when the markets crash because they don’t like nationalisation, and people’s pensions become worthless you can sit there happy in your eternal poverty and bemoan reality not reflecting the fact things don’t work the way you’d like them too.
Companies are not actually worth anything, it’s a Ponzi scheme based on projected future profits. As a nationalised industry doesn’t generate profit per se, the value isn’t a one to one conversion.
