And to the happy ending route. I would make it as new game+ only. So you have to play a route, long for the happy end and than if you have compleated it, you can save all.
Acually make so Byleth awakens some more bs time powers, turns back the time to the beginning and saves all the students by knowing how it will end. And make it like a "murder mystery" where you have to find ways to save all students + your dad and so on. Like have goals to get the house leaders to a certant support level, so they are on a friendly enought basis to even find peace.
And another Dlc I want: S supports for non main characters.
(Actually I am one of the 0.0001% not horny Fire Emblem players that likes S supporting everyone exept the main character. [with (F)Robin and Chrom as an exeption] So you can imagine how much i suffer. And it doesn't help the public image of FE being a Waifu simulator one bit)

It made me proud that Fire Emblem could still pull of such a ridiculously big amount of bullshit and stupidity that would make Kaga weep.
I don’t know if it’s actually a good point.
It is a pretty huge chore to play all the paths, but all of the paths minus Edelgard route hold truth for some questions each. You'll find out more about Duscur in Dimitri's path and the church/Claude path involves "finding out the truth of the world" as the director said in a interview. Some paths don't answer some questions and one gives you misinformation. While I like the idea of not all routes are the "true" ending it still leaves a bitter taste as to how things were handled in the timeskip for each route.
15:48 Not sure about Blue Lions, but Claude is also gone in that chapter.
Speaking of Claude, he’s kind of the least “gray” character. He’s obviously the most heroic of the main lords and ends off with the happiest ending for Fodlan.
17:41 This also happens on the Golden Deer Route, with the Flame Emperor disappearing when Hilda asks where Claude is.
Claude’s route certainly is the cheeriest, in comparison.
Weird that he just disappears too, though. At least Edelgard has a reason, but I wonder why he ups and disappears in the village for Hilda to wonder what’s going on.
@@DoujinShinji Well, since Dimitri also disappears at that point in order to look for survivors in the village, we can assume that's the same reason Claude went off.
The 80 hour thing is real. It took me 74 hours to beat it the first time, mainly because I like to enjoy every details as much as possible, without getting carried away, obviously. Also, I believe that if you play all routes, the endings don't feel empty. You know certain stuff from certain route, and learn other stuff from the others. In my GD playthrough, I felt like the ending was great, it didn't leave me with any questions except from Edelgard's deal.
No apology or anything from Edelgard after your only remaining family member is killed (besides Rhea kind of). I always got the feeling that the only reason that she would get close to you is because she knows that there is no way that she could defeat you. She is a tortured anime character so I guess that gives her the right to ruin everything while being about as interesting as a plank of wood, yet people still like her route where you abandon everyone else just so you can be with her, an emotionless Robo-bitch

The reason no one complained about no weapon triangle in Echoes is because in Gaiden there wasn’t any either.
Plus, not having a weapon triangle is nice, since you have more effective options rather than just choosing the good weapon.

I REALLY agreed with the core point at the end - we kinda want the ending to be more heartwarming, a timeline where everyone's goals work together, but at the same time, I respect the routes for cementing themselves in each own's perspective.
It almost feels inevitable that this happy last path DLC will be a thing, I just hope it’s done in a good way and doesn’t come off as too contrived or cheesy.

I feel like the Golden Deer route is the one that answers most of the questions, honestly. And by the way, the Flame Emperor spoilers is way less obvious in the other routes than in the Black Eagles route.

When I played I got crazy RNG level ups on Faye which completely nullified all difficulty. I just parked the Faye tank in front and have alm clean up her leftovers.
I loved it too. My favorite FE to this very day, but I haven't finished all routes of Three Houses.

the TL:DR of this game is; they took the Idea of branching paths from Fates...and they made it WORK and chucked in some Persona like spice to make it interesting.
they really get into that fucky grey area where right and wrong is just a matter of perspective, slightly spoilery example but the church of seiros itself isnt nessasarily bad, its the people within the church that make it something worth destroying. I mean what happens with Byleth's history, you get why Rhea did what she did but at the same time its just sort of wrong and utterly unfair. I really like the idea that your Avatar is a Merc though, having actual proof of your character having actual combat experience is really coo, I still giggle about the thing with Awakening of robin being "lol I can use magic too? neat" tho.
and as we know, this is a Fire emblem game, DLC is inevitable, bring on those festival DLC chapters and perhaps segments from other games, personally I wouldn't mind a 4th bonkers hard route/5th ending option where you can be like "hey how about I look after ALL OF THEM" and you get to pick and choose what house you want to take out into combat or you get restricted depending on what chapter and eventually being able to do the ye olde Fire emblem team mash, perhaps ending it with the three factions unifying together to acomplish a common goal and unifying Fodlan under a council of three houses, im thinking red eagles alt ending more fleshed out with an awakening style sacrifice by giving up crests and defying the gods, and maybe with how many high supports you have dictating whether or not Byleth survives rather than the magic bulshiz they did, but das just me.
and for fuck sakes its Nintendo, their graphics sofware is pretty much always a generation behind with the graphics, the gamecube had the graphical ability of the PS, the wii had the graphical capability of the PS2, the switch is barely keeping up to ps3 standards, nobody plays a nintendo game for the graphics lets be real here.
Re: the weapon triangle, remember that it wasn't even in the series at all until FE4. In FE5 it was so irrelevant (5% hit/dodge) that you could pretty much ignore it. It wasn't until the GBA games that it became a more meaningful mechanic. (This also explains why Echoes, a remake of FE2, doesn't have it either, though no comment on Shadow Dragon and New Mystery having it; IS do what IS gonna do).
Regarding the spoilery Flame Emperor foreshadowing: In Ch 6, all 3 routes lose their lord for that fight. What's frustrating is that if you already know the twist from having played any route before, it's not hiding anything, and if you don't know the twist, it just makes you more suspicious of Edelgard. I guess the idea is you're supposed to be suspicious of whoever your house leader is no matter the route, but... "Emperor" and Edelgard go together too well for it to not be obvious. And the twist is actually MORE obvious in Blue Lions.
As someone who’s finished all 4 routes I have to say the implication on certain characters’ backgrounds are very interesting
Thanks for the review. I'm still hesitant to get a switch, but I might try it out IF they don't dump $80 of DLC on. My first Fire emblem was Sacred Stones so I've been underwhelmed for so long.
The DLC is, thankfully, only $25. It’s a step in the right direction after the 3DS DLC messes.

Hey dude, like your channel and all but im trying to avoid spoilers so I wont watch it. I have already been spoiled that Caspar likes fighting, Bernedetta is shy, and Ferdinand is in fact, a noble. Sucks but hopefully I will avoid them from now on and discover these secret traits from their personalities on my own, good luck brother
So I just finished the black eagle route. Took me 136 hours in total for just one route, so I guess it really differs per person. This is on Hard Classic mode, btw. My big problem is that (just like Fates' Birthright route) as you mentioned there's a lot of stuff left unclear or unfinished (Mostly regarding Those Who Slither in the Dark). Such as (crimson flower spoilers):
- Those Who Slither in the Dark are just dealt with or being dealt with behind the scenes.
- Lord Arundel actually being Thales or not, not being revealed, same for Jeritza & the death knight.
- What are Those Who Slither in the Dark? Why is their technology advanced? How do they shapeshit? How did they destroy Arianrhod?
I also didn't manage to completely master (A+ filled bar) any weapon skill for any of the recruitable characters by the time I reached the end, nor did I manage to master many of the master classes. The chapter count (for crimson flower at least) is also decidedly lower than other titles I played before (sacred stones, awakening, fates). So for me, the game feels like it finished way too soon. Crimson Flower feels just like Fates Birthright 2.0, with how much information is missing. Especially if you compare Those who Slither in the Dark to Valla.
I understand you can get the full picture by playing multiple routes (or maybe you can even get the full picture by only playing a certain specific 'Revelations' route), but I want a single playthrough to be satisfying regardless of the choices I made.
I went from disappointed, when I saw the E3 2018 trailer, to excited, when I started playing the game, to disappointed again once I finished Crimson Flower. I'm glad to see you're still very positive about this game though.
The biggest issue with the Crimson flower route is that specific route felt rushed as fuck. Like all the outer routes have 21-22 chapters but Crimson flower only has 18. Felt like they added this in last minute and ran out of time to finish it up. The reason they feels so unsatisfying is you never deal with Those who Slither in the Dark. Like seriously 2 map fighting them would had made that route SO much better.
Overall though really enjoy the game and hadn't had a game that engaging in a long time. You did take a long time though to beat it lol. My time was 66 hour on hard classic with good almost 10hrs of afk where I left the game on.
But that depends how much other stuff you did, I didn't recruit too much but did max out support between all the BE houses. Wished it was a bit harder though coz even hard was pretty easy so looking forward to lunatic.
@@RexZShadow I'm very glad to hear that this seems to be something exclusive to Crimson Flower. I hope the other routes will feel more complete. I agree that hard mode was quite easy, except for the last fight. That one had me on my toes nearly the entire time. Still, I only used divine pulse three times for the final fight.
Having learnt more about New Game + mode I get a little less irked about not managing to get even one S (nvm about S+) rank for any skill before or even during the final battle. I wonder what other people's experience is regarding that.

Koei made the vast majority of this game. There were like, 5 intelligent systems employees working on this game.
From my understanding, Koei Tecmo was all of the programming type stuff, and Intelligent Systems was design and writing.
Which, yeah, that seems about right, given the visual ‘flare’ of the game.

I have not. I own them! But I haven’t played them. Their supposed difficulty made me a bit shy to try them out. The new characters seem fun, even if the idea of a secret fourth house is a bit silly for me LOL

I think the other routes it is like playing hector mode. maybe you can give a chance again after some time and discover that it is not like in edelgard mode the same as in the others.
after you beath the 3 modes of 3 houses, you can do the 4 route that it is like revelations, i hope that better. and for what i know the dlc will add lunatic and maybe what you need for an ending.
and maybe it is 45 hours each route.
Idk if the 80 hours part was a lie tbh. I am towards the end of my first route and clocking in at 75 currently. Now that being said I did do absolutely everything. Meaning I talked to every student, every npc, did all side quests and looked at every corner of the monastery each and every month, did all the teaching myself, watched all the support dialogue, did all the (green exclamation point) side quest battles, some of the other optional battles, and I never skipped dialogue. Doing it like that, 80 hours actually isn't a lie. I believe they said that that is what you could get out of it if you never skip dialogue, do a lot of optional stuff etc. I think it just depends on playstyle...idk how you played but judging by how you said the monastery started to get old towards the end I assume you didn't do every little detail... So that might be why.
I would always do most everything in the momentary, most every quest and paralouge I could, I always taught myself; it was really only the last two/three months that I kinda started slowing down but only for the momentary stuff; and the last month I really, really skimmed on the monetary. That just doesn’t sound like it should’ve been another 40 hours for just that, though.

Maybe for some people. Could be the last sort of push other needs to get a switch, along with other games they were excited about, but not necessarily excited ENOUGH about, until now.

DoujinShinji it doesn’t help that a lot of players will only ever see one route and that’s it. Blue Lions route makes her look pretty irredeemable. I went golden deer first so she just seemed very determined and perhaps a bit stubborn. You really need to have played or watched her path to understand her perspective. I don’t necessarily agree with all her actions and decisions, but I agree with you that she’s a brilliant tragic character.
BE only has ep 18, for other three routes, there are ep 22. To me,BE route is short and incomplete somehow. If you decide to only play one round, BE actually is not a good choice... and information is misleading.

I'm happy that many people liked the game like it is, but I just can't love it.
I don't like the gameplay because if I would like to roam around I would play a JRPG or an Atelier, Persona ecc. I like the system 'cutscene, battle, cutscene, battle ecc.'.
And if you have to do more pathes, the first 8 hours of gameplay are almost the same.
From the story point of view, I didn't like it because with every route you take, it seems like the personality of characters changes.
Example, Rhea is GOOOD when you chouse her path. She is a benevolent mother, but also severe, but not in an evil way.
But when you choose Eldegard, she is evil because of all that Eldegard tells you. It seems like this is the one with true ending, and other pathes was wrote just because yes. (I'm doing my last path with Dimitri right now)
And speaking about fanservice, for those who like this things, there are many things to do, but I find many characters very boring and irritating, like Ignatz or Lorentz. Others are just cliches like Raphael (like some other characters from old FEs). The characters problem is that some of them don't improve at all 5 years later, like Bernadetta. So it was a little disappointing for me.
And for the last, Byleth... I think he/she is the worst character of all FE3H. I think that he/she has not a personality because often other characters talks insted of him/her. There are other characters in videogames like Lang from Legaia 2 that talks but you can also make choises for him and he changes his personality along with your choises! And it's a game from 2002!!
So, yeah, I was just a bit disappointed...
I liked the game only from Edelgards path.
