Review Widespread Concerns on EWS. We share the widespread concern over the split judgement of the Supreme Court on reservation for Economically Weaker Sections. We are not opposed to reservation for EWS in education and jobs, per se. But the Supreme Court order raises certain major questions which need to addressed. We have always questioned the criteria to define EWS. The eligibility for accessing reservation to EWS quota has fixed a ceiling of almost Rs. 8 lakh per annum and 5 acres of agricultural land, a residential flat of 1000 square feet and a residential plot of 100 square yards in a notified municipality. With the minimum wage and tax free ceiling pegged at a much lower level, these criteria will allow a large population who are not really poor and destitute to access the benefits of this reservation. In effect, this discriminates against the poorest of the poor. It is, therefore, imperative for the government to include this concern in its policy of reservation of EWS.

Reservation is Representation and this is not the scheme to remove the poverty....To remove the poverty the government should have a focus on economic development .
Reservation gives equity and helps the unequal population in our country to avail the benefits equally .It is similar to creating raised platform where the weaker section of the society be equal to the majority ones
EWS are defined as households with annual income is up to ₹ 8 lakhs...How is it possible for economically weak people whose annual income is up to ₹ 8 lakhs?
Govt should make some changes in the existing reservation system of ST/SC/OBC´s where most of the people from this st, sc and obc are getting resevation whose economic status is very high and getting reservation in the name of castes but other section of people from ST, SC and OBC are suffering poverty, hunger; and they are not benefited as they are unknown about their rights, so govt should fixed some criteria to get the reservation to implement "sabka sath sabka bikas" means for the upliftment of the society.....🙏🙏
3 Types of Justice (Social, Economical, Political ) is already mentioned in Preamble and had provision in the Constitution. Earlier Criteria for Reservation is on the Caste basis because lower castes faced historically injustice and somehow created inequality in society. Now in the current scenario we see that there are certain inequalities in society on an economic basis. If they get 10℅ reservation without violating reservation on other categories then this should be acceptable and should be welcomed. And thus prove the real meaning of #Socialjustice 🙏

How long you are giving the reservation. It is better to give economic criteria to all. But this is the 21st century now hopefully no upper caste will have a problem in providing 51% reservation to obcs if it gets approved in future after population counting.....Equal Representation to hone chahiye
Mam..my point of view for ur question......If social and educational backwardness are accepted, then why not economical for reservation???? Reservation is to achieve social justice now....once such people's ancestors suffered from discrimination, deprived of basic rights, education in society..exploited by others from low level works( scavenging) to preserving their own status..hence their descendants remain socially and educationally poor..... Hence it s acceptable
