Looks amazing!! Love the style of it. TIP: most primers are actually tintable, so when using black or a dark color, have your local paint store tint it a dark gray or close the color you’re using!
Awesome job!!! It looks great. If you walk into your house and it makes you happy, you did the right thing. I did this in my house about 2 years ago and it still makes me happy. I get loads of compliments on it too. Keep up the good work.
LOVE the black! I can't wait to show this to the hubby! I've wanted to do ours for months and he said REALLY... you sure! Thanks for sharing! Have a sweet day!

I have mine on a little loft shelf in my stairwell and keep candles in it. I have tried it in so many places but this seems to work. I love the idea of a red birdcage for Christmas! Sounds like a gorgeous plan.
New subbie here for Australia. I love what you have done. All my 3 external doors are painted black, I have also added black security screen doors, all my internal doors are painted what my husband calls battleship grey. The walls are very pale grey and the handrail and top of the pony wall on the stairs are black, everyone said it would look horrible but they all love it. I wish I could paint my stairs white with black risers but my husband won’t let me do it. I suggest yours would so fabulous with black stair risers. Can’t wait to watch your other videos. Cheers.
For years I had been contemplating doing my interior doors black ( two days ago, I finally did it) and I LOVE IT!! Thanks for sharing, you did an Amazing job!!
Oh my gosh so beautiful... I was thinking of painting my doors Black as my accent color ,my walls are all white and my furniture is gray leather and gray subway tile in kitchen I thought black would be a classic look. Thank you for sharing you gave me courage to get it done
Thank you for sharing your project. What a treasure you must be to your husband! Also, thanks for your honesty about the time and steps it requires. I always worked outside the home and was discouraged from painting, so DIY is new to me. I liked how you repaired the newel post. Thumbs Up!
I love the refresh look! I too am doing some refreshing around my home. It can be time-consuming, but the outcome is soooo refreshing! I LOVE THE BLACK! I'm changing my grout in my kitchen black! Its been pure white, but im over trying to keep it that way!
I am so glad your video came up through my feed... this is just what I want to do...but wasn’t sure. I am now...LOVE THE CLASSIC, CRISP COLOR of the white with black doors and trim! BEAUTIFUL 👍❤️👍❤️
Everything looks great! I too, am in the process of painting our house. It’s been quite a tedious process because painting takes time 😩 but we are getting there. I love the black doors and the newly painted quarter rounds being white.
I love this. I started 2 years ago to paint my baseboards white but i wanted to paint my doors black . So I just stopped because I thought I should go all the way one way or another, I couldnt decide...BUT yours looks really good and very classy and modern! You should be very happy because it looks fantastic, and NOW,...I CAN FINISH knowing mine will look classy and modern too!!
I love that, Stacey! I get where you were coming from. I think very black and white when it comes to things and if they touch (like the baseboards and the trim,) shouldn't they be the same color? But I spent a lot of time on Pinterest looking at pictures and decided to try it. Then the other night I saw some pictures where the door, trim, baseboards and wall were all painted the same color. 🤯 It looked soooo cool. Like a sage green or a cornflour blue. So now I have to figure out where I can do that in my home! lol
Hi! This is the first time I've seen your channel... I've been doing the same exact project in my home for the last few weeks... Black doors, stair railing, headers, etc. The hardest part is deciding where to start and stop... So happy to see someone else made the same decisions I have by leaving baseboards alone. Your home is beautiful! I love the baby gate at top of stairs, you made it look very regal. Black and white are just classics. I've got to subscribe to your channel now... Great job!
Thank you Melissa! I went back and forth so many times about the spindles and baseboards on the stairs but I figured I could always paint them if I decide to.
@@MeganBell OMG! Thanks for the reply, Megan! You made my day. What you've done is timeless and speaks of your classy taste... You're so right, its just paint. If you keep the black-white theme going, you have to try it. I promise you'll love it...
This is so beautiful and elegant!! I love it. I came here for inspiration because I'm painting my stairs tomorrow. Now, I know what I'll be doing.Thank you!
Great job!!! Looks good!! I’m painting hardware with a paint on water based enamel. It’s black, so it’s making everything look like iron. It’s scratch proof.
Great idea spray painting the hardware definitely ties it all in. You did a great job and paint does bring a newer feel to a space. I have my own projects I'm working on as well.
All of my projects start out with me telling my husband I'm just going to paint the front door black and then three weeks, trim, baseboards, several more doors, and a full blown youtube video later, everything in the house is painted 😂
I’ve been wanting to paint my door a dark blue. How are your hand rails holding up? Really dramatic look but still so classy at the same time. I love it.
Everything is great! My niece and nephew came a few days after I finished painting and I thought for sure I'd have to do touchups because most paints take 30 days to fully cure, but they look brand new!
Black just elevates a space so much, I love it! Also love that rug in the entryway, it coordinates so nicely. If you use a box cutter to cut the tape seem before you remove it you will should be able to avoid most of not all of the touching up. It really helps a lot. 💕
www.boutiquerugs.com Found them on instagram and they have really good prices for good quality! Thank you for the tip on the box cutter! Luckily on the quarter round I didn't have the same problem, but I used thinner coats too.
Nice job. I've been doing a refresh of my townhouse. I used a gel stain (JAVA) to redue my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. The gel stain that I used was very difficult to work with. It dries really fast. I've decided I'm going to use a paint (mocha & black mixed to get the espresso tent) to do the stair treads and railing. LOL I have tried a no shoe policy but, it doesn’t matter kids will have friends over and my dogs don’t have shoes but, its amazing the dirt they bring in. I think I am going to go for it! It looks so nice and clean and white and I am trying to lighten this house up! when we moved in all the doors and molding were a shiny black and I get that look but this house is dark and the way its built not much sun gets inside so I have been painting all the trim and doors back to white ( what a project) LOL 😂

Great job, looks really sharp! I’m in the Netherlands at the moment and there’s a lot of black trim everywhere. It gives everything a clean crisp look.
Looks stunning. Very nice. For me, I would love see the steps black, leaving the risers white, but that would be a lot of work and it is your house. Looks great as you have it. I have noticed that if you ask 5 people when to take off tape, you will likely get five unique answers, lol.
I agree, black and white would have been beautiful and classic. But a lot of work and we actually just sold this house a few months ago and are no longer in it. And so true about the tape! LOL
How wonderful this turned out. What kind of paint do you use? Based on water? Little tip: if you wanted to paint something dark, use colored primer instead of white. I wasn’t certain for painting my door black, but now that I have seen you doing it, I will certainly paint mine also black. Really wonderful 🥰
You are amazing. I have a black door as well. I noticed you painted trim black around 1 door and white around the other. How did you decide?
