Shawn Ryan Show is hands down the best military channel out right now. I try and catch as many as I can and you never disappoint brother.
Big time military family here! My grandpa was a full bird, colonel in WWII, and a navigator on the B-52!! HE would love this channel! I miss him so much
@@waltermora8520 The jet/gun is very impressive in person. The rounds are even more impressive. My god that's a big projectile for such high rates of fire.
I know Im a nerd for this but I was a weather troop in the AF and I loved working with pilots to help plan missions for combat or training. Best part of my life so far
Def not a nerd in my book brother. Actually it’s kind of fascinating and something you should take pride in. God bless and thank you for your roll in keeping me and my family safe.
We couldn’t fly with any confidence without you. I flew Apaches and the early morning (0400) takeoff , it was important for us to know what is going to happen weather wise. We have to know winds, blowing dust and haze and visibility limits. Don’t sell yourself short. We all have a role to play from the cook, finance clerk and supply guys to the Generals. It’s all important.
The A-10 will always be America's best flying machine. Everyone else designed a gun for their plane, we took a gun an strapped rockets an wings to it. Mericaaa
There's a firing lead that goes from the missile rail to the rocket motor on the AGM-65's. When it fires it burns the lead and half stays connected to the rail on the rail. I've seen so many pilots climb out and race over to take that little piece of wire and connector like it was gold, well the pins are gold, but it's a prized possession, like the beard off a turkey you just killed.
Shawn, as someone who primarily has a lot of Left views politically, but also grew up with a Vietnam Vet father, Desert Storm Vet brother, and a Korean War Vet grandfather, (none saw action, but served our country proudly)... I have to emphasize that what you are doing is of the utmost importance in bridging the gap between anti-war folks and the people who understand that it is an unfortunate necessity. You're wonderfully open-minded and nonjudgmental, and your interviews help illuminate the absolutely staggering rawness of war that the vast majority of people, myself included, can't ever fully comprehend. What you are doing helps others develop empathy and understanding for the men and women who legitimately sacrifice their existence so I can sit here in my home office, making a living, food in the fridge, and not have a single fear that people with guns will storm in here and end it all. We've got it so good in the US that we've taken for granted all these basic comforts and security nets around us because of people we get to see in your interviews and all those who fought before. Thank you for your service in the military, and thank you for your continued service in illuminating the stories of these absolute legends of men and women.
Always thought it’d be the most FUN aircraft to fly. A-10, or the OV-10 Bronco, P-38 Lightning… those style… not mega fast but stick and rudder and fun as hell… got my first A-10 model when I was 10 yrs old long long ago…
Against insurgents without guided Anti Aircraft launchers (or similar), the A10 is definitely a top option, but in conventional warfare and the consecuential contested Airspace context, the A10 sadly does have great chances of success. s
Lil bird pilots don’t let go either, check out the ones who retire and go public for a power company trimming power line right of ways. 10 hrs a day they have a saw hanging under their chopper cutting limbs.
Finally. Been waiting to hear a pilot testimony for a long time. Lots of ground force dudes on the show and it’s great and all. Honestly though, I left the door kickers club and I want to do something else. The civilian side ain’t working out too well in my eyes so I’ve been thinking about going back as a pilot. Dunno if you could swing any of the 160th dudes for an interview. But it would be awesome.
I know ptsd is tied to mental health as well like you mentally know you've ended alot of lives in certain planes but the thoguth of not seeing it happen is interesting
Ive heard drone operators have the highest rates of ptsd. Being disconnected physically and so dissasociated to the destruction you cause while deep down knowing you have the power of god in your hands and you're using it to mercilessly end human life must be a tough concept to grok. Also, i mean no disrespect, but on some level it's unfair or perhaps unsportsmanlike to be so invulnerable while dishing out the hate which could also conflict with some ideas of honor, i suppose. I hope everyone gets the support they need.
82nd Airborne 11B vet named Fernando Arroyo that did an interview with Urban Valor and he talked about those Kiowa pilots shooting out of their helicopters. Shawn you gotta get this guy on the show. I worked on F15 back in the day and every time we would go to NAFB for the Red Flag exercise are pilots would always comment on how the A10 pilots would always kick there butts.
I mean c'mon, these guys get to go in once the enemy is blind. Radar has already been vaporized by F-18's and jammed by Prowlers. They get to come in and mop up a thoroughly compromised position. Their CAS missions had to be the most fun you can have as a pilot, next to maybe how he described the helo pilots getting in the shit. Having guys on the ground to witness the capabilities of that platform raises it to God-like levels. But so much has happened by the time they get to go have their fun.
Understandably a difficult conversation, but have you interviewed anyone directly involved in friendly fire that resulted in US/ally casualties? I ask because earlier today I was watching a few documentaries about Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan, one detailed a US A10 Warthog killing 1 Canadian and wounding 34, another about a bomb dropped on the Canadians by the US killing 4 and wounding 8. The pilots were tried in the latter case, one seemed remorseful while the other didn't (at the trial) according to one of the survivors.
Country said go. They went. Acted w honor, courage and bravery. No shame in the game. These men would be scary to you...they have resolve and grit that clearly terrifies you.

Classic brrrrrrrr❤ from Glasgow Scotland
More like the GAU-8 Avenger with wings, that we call the A10, go brrrrrrr. Have you seen the diagram on how big the actual gun is? 😂
