Michael's friend found out about it, told Michael what’s up and Mike left because she made it seem like she was in love with him & what they’ve had was something serious. When she knocked on his door, his friend threw out all the cards with all her different names on them right in her face. That’s when she knew she was caught. Great video & meaning!!
I always felt like she was put to these men for extortion. For instance the guy in the wheelchair and oxygen. Her face and eye roll when he stands up (therefore not requiring the wheelchair and oxygen) always made me feel like she was saying in her head ‘gotcha’.

This short film was directed by David Fincher before he became a major Hollywood film director. But even in his early years he was a busy man doing loads of music videos for other major artists including Madonna. Apparently the lady in the video is model Yasmin Le Bon who is married to Duran Duran lead singer Simon Le Bon.
This video was directed by movie director David Fincher who directed some of Madonnas videos too. This video was not aired in the US. Michael didn’t like it. He felt it’s more of a Madonna style. I think it’s a great production
The idea is that MJ has fallen in love with this call girl without knowing she's a call girl, and has now discovered her secret and thinks she just sees him as a rung on her ladder. But the truth is that she's fallen in love with him too and then tries to runaway from her pimps to runaway with him but she's too late, and the security guard drops all of her business cards through the hatch to reveal that he'd found out about all her aliases. I mean, that's what the video's about. The song is about how MJ fell in love with Diana Ross like the 21 year old fool he was, and then how he resented her (for a time) for what he felt was leading behaviour that made him feel special. That's why one of the cards uses her name.
The reason Michael isn't really seen much after the opening is because this was filmed while he was touring and didn't have time to do the whole video so he had an impersonator stand in for any shots that don't clearly show his face.
