I still remember walking into laundromats and hearing "THANK YOU! Heavy machine gun. Cant believe it's been so long since I started playing this game. I use to snack on chips and soda when playing as a kid now I snack on weed and beer while playing Metal Slug😄
I like all the details that are mentioned here. Though I have a few nitpicks: Huge Hermit was an accident for the most part. The story goes is that a Giant Shell-less Hermit Crab outgrew its shell and saw the rebels' large artillery piece as a new home. When the rebel army found out what happened to their artillery they just played along and trained it. Sol Dae Rokker was also apparently Mars People-tech. But it was worshipped as a divine entity by the ancient people who used to live there.
Can't wait for you to do part 2! I never got the chance to get into Metal Slug. But watching the gameplay and hearing this whacky lore makes me wanna play some Metal Slug!
First time I played a Metal Slug game was during my university years. The arcade cabinet was located in the lobby of the gym building. I was waiting for class, noticed it, and instantly fell in love despite the amount of quarters it would eat. It is the perfect illustration of how a genre of video games develops for the better since Metal Slug is everything Contra style games could become over time.
Metal Slug has always been one of my favorite game franchises. The art style is soooooo good. A remaster/HD version of some of the games would be great, for some reason the ports in the SNK collections play a bit clunky for my taste.
Lets give props to the Rebels, theyre loyal to the bone. When their men and leader got kidnapped by aliens to space they went after them allying with their enemies.
Fio was also a "Striker" in KOF 2000, Kinda upsetting she wasn't playable in that game, but I'm happy she eventually was in Maximum Impact 2, I'm still hoping to see one of the MS characters to become playable Fighters in future KOF installments, Hell, Marco & Fio actually made a Cameo in the Ikari Warriors ending in KOF 14 (It could be a foreshadow but who knows). My picks are Marco, Tarma & Eri (Sorry Fio, but I just found Eri way more Cooler).

I remember playing some some of the Metal Slug games. They are really hard but damn they have some great animation. I love how you cover the lore of SNK games since they never get mentioned all that much. It’s interesting to see that they are all deeper than one would think. Well done with this video.
Awesome, I never knew the Metal Slug games have so much lore! Also, I love how you're slowly turning from a KoF-focused channel into an all-out SNK one! KoF, SamSho, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting and now Metal Slug! What are you going to cover next??
At the end of Metal Slug 1 you see a little girl praying over a cross. Allegedly she is praying for someone to bring him back and she accidentally contacts the Martians for MS2. Granted.... in MS3 they can create zombies so I guess it tracks.
24:02-24:07 Okay Allen O'Neil basically sounds like the SNK equivalent of Wild Dog at this point. Didn't think Metal Slug lore was this deep. Sounds like the creators put a lot stuff together while drunk, yet it somehow really works.
The 3rd one was one of my childhood favorites and the one i replayed over and over again with my cousins just because of how fun and easily adaptable it was
I recently started playing Metal Slug games. I was a bit confused about the story but thanks to this video (and it's future sequels) I can finally understand the story. 🔥
It was really good I didn’t know that there was this much into the story. As a kid I just assume that you just haul ass and shot and each story from each game is just made up to give you something to think about while playing.
MS 3 is most certainly my favourite. So many new cool shits. The ancient things, the difficulty, the disgusting monsters, and fighting with the soldiers that we hunt previously. It’s just amazing to play.
I disagree with one tiny detail you mentioned at the start, that being that X and 2 are the same. That's not exactly the case. The remake (X) adds many new details to the game to make the inclusion of the martians more subtle. In MS2, we only see them at the very end, which seems to come out of nowhere (kinda random). In MSX, however, they make 2 appearances in stage 1 and 1 in the Chinese neighborhood stage. These additions were not in the original version.
Poor Marco and Tarma. They get the Solid Snake/ Sam Fisher treatment and are too good to quit. You used to see that a lot with older war movies like Rambo, which I'm guessing they got inspiration from, and it's so cool the games still hold up today. Thanks for covering the story!
As a person who hasn't played the other metal slug games, the only thing I know about metal slug is Guy is mad at me I'm here to stop him I beat his army after dying 1..2.. how do I count past infinity? Suddenly he comes back with aliens They betray him The pistol soldiers suck He almost dies because he fell on the ground T h a t s I t
I loved your video, thank you so much for doing this. I’m from Mexico and I grew up watching my older brothers playing KoF, and since I couldn’t compete, I would play this instead in the arcades. I didn’t know English but it didn’t matter, this game’s style says it all and even to this day I love seeing the ending of MS3.
This was an excellent video. You did an amazing job relaying the story. I always enjoy your videos, but this just felt like something special. Thank you for all you do and keep up the awesome work!
Haha! Rambo is still alive and survived inside the whale. 🤣🤣 The game is very SNK. KoF to ne exact. Why? Because of the clones! 😊 Thank you for explaining the story of the game. I can't finish the game in 1 credit. It takes several credits for me to finish the game. 😅 So excited to know Trevor and Nadia and obvisously the Ikari Team. ❤
So much beautiful lore in the world of Metal Slug, gosh im so happy that I picked up 2/X in my childhood. But the main thing I love about this game is the fact that we are constantly reminded of how O'Neil just keeps coming back! Though...he did earn the nickname "Immortal Devil Sergeant" for a reason
the aliens were my favorite enemies. this game litterally had everything a kid could want in a video game. lots of action, gore, and enemies. constantly changing it up. i damn near cried when they defeated the aliens. best childhood game.

@@angelsartandgaming Six or seven years from now, actually. Fio turns 20 years old during her first appearance in Metal Slug 2, so MGS2 is in 2028 or 2029. So yeah, six or seven years from now, Marco, Fio, Tarma and Eri will fight against mummies, zombies, aliens and all that crap. LOL!
@@LightStreak567 Oops! My math was a tad off. But yes, hahahahahaha!

I really need the second part, this was sol good
6 year old me: gun go pew pew
24 year old me: jesus the lore a crazy
this series has some of the best art direction ever achieved in gaming pixel art
but who cares for the story? seriously. i was first introduced to metal slug by my thai friend he had it on psx and sold it as this massive game that is very well known in asia. we are in the early 2000nds here and none of my european frienda including me had ever heared of it. after that encounter i hunted down every copy i could get including the ngpc version...nowadays its all romdumps and i am glad for it. still think this is one of the best games that you play with anyone that comes to your house, no matter if they are gamers or not. its just a great series in vedeo games and i am happy that i got the recongintion it deserves. but seriously: who cares about the lore?
17:03 That wasn't O'Neal bones that came out of the water, that was the whales bones after O'Neal eat his way out of the whale
Makes sense
I wish theyd do a super long game with every level, every weapon and features, and randomize them so we could play them non stop
Now that would be a grand metal slug game! Maybe they could call it "Metal slug forever".
Though I have a few nitpicks:
Huge Hermit was an accident for the most part.
Thanks for the info.
So, I'm guessing that our heroes didn't meet the yetis in cannon then during the events of MS3?
They sure did. But I can't cover every single detail. The video is already too long.
@@ShoryuGame make them longer and add an X at the end of the titles.
Can't wait for you to do part 2!
I never got the chance to get into Metal Slug. But watching the gameplay and hearing this whacky lore makes me wanna play some Metal Slug!
You won't regret it
That lore was way deeper and well done than I was prepared for. Great video!
Thanks a ton!
The Game's soundtrack is one of my favorites of the series.
Metal Slug 2/X just gave me a very vivid flashback to my halcyon days. Man, times were good back then. Times were good.
Metal Slug has always been one of my favorite game franchises. The art style is soooooo good. A remaster/HD version of some of the games would be great, for some reason the ports in the SNK collections play a bit clunky for my taste.
The first game has a significant input delay. I messed so many jumps because of it.
18:55 In a couple playthroughs i’ve seen the pilot fall on the right side of the screen onto the ground.
Other people be like: Metal Slug has lore?
Me: It always had.
i wanna know where to learn more... about this lore
Lets give props to the Rebels, theyre loyal to the bone. When their men and leader got kidnapped by aliens to space they went after them allying with their enemies.
Ikr?
I remember playing the first metal slug game and reaching the last mission without dying lmao
I played this at my elementary days until now the graphics is still great..
Small trivia: Fio was playable in KOF Maximum Impact 2
I like her unique moves, all based on weapons in MS
My favorite is when she wields her tonfas.
Fio was also a "Striker" in KOF 2000, Kinda upsetting she wasn't playable in that game, but I'm happy she eventually was in Maximum Impact 2,
I'm still hoping to see one of the MS characters to become playable Fighters in future KOF installments, Hell, Marco & Fio actually made a Cameo in the Ikari Warriors ending in KOF 14 (It could be a foreshadow but who knows).
My picks are Marco, Tarma & Eri (Sorry Fio, but I just found Eri way more Cooler).
2:30 Colonel Donald Mordan
3:40 Alan O'neil
3:57 Morden's' Plan
4:56 The Metal Slug

I remember playing some some of the Metal Slug games. They are really hard but damn they have some great animation. I love how you cover the lore of SNK games since they never get mentioned all that much. It’s interesting to see that they are all deeper than one would think. Well done with this video.
Thank you very much.
Bring tears on my adult eyes
Damn, 20 years later aftef I learn the lore. I was playing this when I was 7 and got confuse about the randomness of whats happening in the game
Best game ever besides KOF of course. It’s sucks how a lot of my friends don’t know any of these games
High graphics games are so famous no one notices classic masterpieces like these
g God sadly they really don’t
My first metal slug experience was through an arcade game at a laundromat a few blocks away. Had to have been 7 or 8. I was hooked.
Eri is the shiz
Awesome, I never knew the Metal Slug games have so much lore!
Also, I love how you're slowly turning from a KoF-focused channel into an all-out SNK one! KoF, SamSho, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting and now Metal Slug! What are you going to cover next??
Before i had wifi, i would always play metal slug x over and over without getting bored
Goddang didn't even realize this game has deep lore to it.
Bro like how they go from a regular mission the first game to fighting aliens by the 3rd god I love this series
9:47 Bottom right : Really looked like that monkey was getting busy with the fish in front of it hahahaaha Sprite overlapping i guess.
The 3rd one was one of my childhood favorites and the one i replayed over and over again with my cousins just because of how fun and easily adaptable it was
Keep making these videos man I love how you expand on the snk stories that people gloss over
I recently started playing Metal Slug games. I was a bit confused about the story but thanks to this video (and it's future sequels) I can finally understand the story. 🔥
Glad I could help!
As a person who hasn't played the other metal slug games, the only thing I know about metal slug is
Guy is mad at me
I'm here to stop him
I beat his army after dying 1..2.. how do I count past infinity?
Suddenly he comes back with aliens
They betray him
The pistol soldiers suck
He almost dies because he fell on the ground

Nice summery!
Each mission a episode, with a pixel art artstyle, that would make a great anime
And an hour long or longer
"due to her awful sense of direction"...
*roronoa zoro would like to know ur location... but he also lost his way!!!😂😂😂
I loved your video, thank you so much for doing this.
I’m from Mexico and I grew up watching my older brothers playing KoF, and since I couldn’t compete, I would play this instead in the arcades. I didn’t know English but it didn’t matter, this game’s style says it all and even to this day I love seeing the ending of MS3.
Glad you liked it.
This was an excellent video. You did an amazing job relaying the story. I always enjoy your videos, but this just felt like something special. Thank you for all you do and keep up the awesome work!
Wow, thank you!
My favorite fucking game series and
Magnificent , greatest sprite animation
Bravo snk
Haha! Rambo is still alive and survived inside the whale. 🤣🤣
The game is very SNK. KoF to ne exact. Why? Because of the clones! 😊
Thank you for explaining the story of the game. I can't finish the game in 1 credit. It takes several credits for me to finish the game. 😅
So excited to know Trevor and Nadia and obvisously the Ikari Team.
Someone in 2023 better not kill some Canadian generals family
Ferb i know what we're gonna do today
Metal Slug 3 hit different and still hits different till this day.
Easily one of the favorites.
*TENKIU* so much for making this video, Bringing the Metal Slug series in to the spotlight really made me happy. 😄
Edit: *"I Salute You."*
Glad you enjoyed it!
I remember enjoying and beating Metal Slug 2 with my Dad ^^
Suchba great game!
24:56
best shmump game ever hehehe
nc work, i'm looking forward on to the next metal slug lore
Thanks.
the aliens were my favorite enemies. this game litterally had everything a kid could want in a video game. lots of action, gore, and enemies. constantly changing it up. i damn near cried when they defeated the aliens. best childhood game.
