I would love a Christmas VHS. I already went through all the Christmas content on the channel this month and i'm sure ill do it again before Christmas! Nothing better than the dessert contests and some Junts carts to get you in the Christmas spirit!!
Assuming these are sealed in shrink wrap, I’m planning to keep mine on display in my office. Right next to my long box copy of Resident Evil 1 for the PlayStation, the best video game that ever existed.
It's so cool that Levi reserved you the first prints of the tapes! I tip my hat off to him for the brilliant work and effort he's devoted to this project.
So I grabbed both, but what I really want is a double set of the Christmas specials. They just have a great vibe for the holidays or when I’m feeling down.
I'm tempted to dub my own VHS as I still have like a dozen tapes laying around, but I'd also love to have the "official" ones with the labels and whatnot if there's another run. The shipping+VAT+duty would probably cost more than the actual thing, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to hold back.
Vhs quality media truly does add a layer to the experience, especially for horror movies And in particular, 70s era stuff feels more uncomfortable to see that way Thats how i first saw suspiria, put onto a dvd, and then watched the blu ray, you get two different experiences from the same movie
I don't think VHS is quite the same as vinyl. People love the warmer, less tinny, analog sound of vinyl so there's actually a reason to get new albums in the format. While the "organic" quality of nostalgic movies is real, VHS releases of contemporary films are pure novelty. The experience between Spotify and a pressed album is different in a way that Alien: Romulus on VHS versus Amazon Prime just isn't. Novelty isn't bad or illegitimate, but it does mean VHS isn't going to have the same kind of resurgence as vinyl has.
If anything it's gonna be like the cassette "resurgence" Awesome Mix vol. 1 was released on cassette for Guardians of the Galaxy and now it's fairly common for certain artists to release limited runs of cassettes for their albums. But nobody ever actually listens to them, they just look cool. Although horror movies on VHS work better than most other genres in my opinion, since the degradation can mask the effects and make them look more believable and also the lack of visual information can add to the creep factor. The Thing in HD is a beautiful movie, but on VHS the monsters become a lot more menacing
vinyl is a lot like vhs where you're choosing an objectively less accurate format for the sake of nostalgia. vinyl can't store nearly as much information, and struggles severely with range of frequency or volume. production has to be careful that the needle doesn't jump or scratch the disc. the record player itself is also producing sounds. especially now, when anything pressed on vinyl was digitally produced anyway, people are just buying it because they like the inconvenience of physically placing a disc on a player and setting the needle.
Sometimes, as is, is just better. Not rationally but emotionally. As a huge DBZ fan the voice cast we all came to know and love is the best, but I saw the first 3 movies with the crappy Pioneer/Ocean Dub and that's the way I need to see them from now on.
So im kind of confused...ive been waiting for this forontha since you talked about it...and this isnt the announcement, but its already sold out? Wtf.... So disappointed
@@NintenDub we did a big announcement days in advance on our community posts, on both channels, saying they’d go on sale two Fridays ago at noon. The post went up many days in advance to give everyone a fair shot. Sorry you didn’t see!
We also put the commercial up on both channels when they went on sale. So no this is not the announcement video - those were, plus the community post that came days before that as a heads up.
Frankie Just because John read the receipt wrong youre gonna act this way is this your way of getting out of your relationships is this the way you act!?

Oh man, the temptation to make a Box Max laserdisc is so strong.
After Boxmac on VHS, the next logical step is boxmac on vinyl, laserdisc and 8-track.
16:40 the best explanation I’ve ever heard about physical media collectors!

There's definitely an inherent "spookiness" to the format for some reason
Truly, it's part of why the analog horror genre is so successful and popular online

@@Aidan8N Good to find someone else who can see through the vinyl bs.
Frankie are we doing the lazerdisc next?

You must have made 4 of these.. who is buying?
50 of each, so a hundred units. They sold out very quickly.
