- I suspected that one of my colonies was queenless, no queen, no eggs, no brood, so I added a test frame of eggs. The video shows the state of play 7 days later. Thanks so much for viewing.
I've done it a few times and had good luck with it, thanks for the video
Thanks Doug. Will keep you posted.
It’s crazy how English bees sound so different. That accent is awesome.
Better to leave two rather than just one queen cell. If one is a dud or gets damaged it will set you back in getting a virgin queen mated and laying eggs. The first to emerge will take care of her competition.
Thanks for the advice, best wishes to you!
Thanks so much, best wishes to you!
Waiting 7 days to see if there's any eggs is NOT long enough ... you need to wait at least a minimum of 3-5 weeks ..... don't forget that your swarm could of arrives with a virgin queen .....
Thanks very much for that Tony
If its got a queen they'll just raise brood. Its no biggie.
Thanks Geralto@@geraltofrivia8529
I always heard that if a hive is queenless for 3 weeks you could end up with laying workers which can only lay drones.
I agree. It doesn’t hurt to add a frame of eggs. If they need a queen, they will make one, if not. They are good to go with a boost of younguns.
