As an RN with ER experience let me tell you this could happen to anybody at anytime no matter how careful you are. Glad he is ok. Enjoy this time in your life. Live not in fear but live in the graciousness of our God.
Accidents happen. That doesn't make you a bad mother. It makes you a normal parent. Gunner will be fine and never even remember. God is so good and His protection is amazing. Keep your head up and don't let people make you feel bad.
Love the patience Austin and Joy use when teaching there kiddos. Love how Austin was teaching Gideon to wash the quad. Got right at his level and patiently explained everything., super awesome 👍
Such a beautiful family! it’s so great to just see how they were from when they were little to know how they are. You know adults with their own kids and despite whatever anybody else says Michelle did a really good job with her kids and it shows Joy is just a wonderful person.
I’ve never seen your channel but happened to click on this video. I felt the need to comment, my then 20 month old daughter threw herself back in a tantrum off my shoulders while I was holding her and landed direct to top of her head onto concrete. I heard her head crack and immediately screamed in terror at the restroom thinking she died. To this day, I still have guilt over this but know it was freak accident. She is thank God, totally okay, fracture in two places but nothing more serious. I thank God every day she is still alive and well. I wanted to tell you things in life outside our control happen and the fear of losing a child is the worst feeling I’ve ever felt. Praise God your baby is okay and find comfort in knowing this isn’t on you and you did the absolute best caring for your baby through this situation! Much love ❤
My big scary was when my daughter was about the same age. She was sitting in a booster seat at a fast-food restaurant. She wiggled just a little bit and the darn thing slipped right out from under her butt to the left, her body fell to the right, and her head hit the cement floor.
So glad he is okay!! I know how guilty you may feel but this is so common! You are the best momma and did everything you could. I heard you can flip the child upside down (holding their feet) and gravity will make them spit it out when choking (up to 4-5 years old) All parents should look into learning infant cpr and choking protocols just in case ❤
Being a mother is the most challenging role you can have. Fully being responsible for another’s survival in EVERY WAY. Nobody is perfect I can only imagine how she feels. Send you lots of love! 💕
Invest in the lifevac!! My daughter choked on a water bottle lid, we didn’t even know she had! It was SOO SCARY! Thank GOD my husband was able to get it out. We purchased the lifevac not long after!!
Mama this can happen with any child, it happened to my youngest when she was 3 and like Gunner, she was ok in the end. It's terrifying, but don't let anyone criticize you or try to make you feel bad. Gunner is ok. All it takes is one time. After that I was just like you, making her eat each bite and swallow before the next bite. You're a good mama who loves her children. And having Austin, an EMT is a blessing. He's a keeper that Austin! Love and prayers and big virtual hugs are being sent your way ❤
Oh Joy, that had to be terrifying. But you guys saw he was in trouble and did everything he needed. So glad he’s ok. Now please take care of you too- that had to be traumatic for you.
Happened to me 52 years ago my youngest son ate the dried cereal off the floor I hadn’t picked up yet and he choked on a few pieces. I wasn’t a Christian at the time but cried out to God and he showed me what to do. He was blue and not breathing. I turned him over and gave him two good blows between his shoulder blades and out it came and he cried and so did I. Then I took a first aid course. About five years later I was saved All Glory to God!
It’s such a good thing you did take him. Their little throats get irritated and swell. God helped him bc yall are his parents. Yall did ALL of the right things.
I cried listening to the story too. I felt your fear and imagined it happening to me with one of my children. You guys did everything right. Praise the Lord.
I can't even imagine how scary that was. You and Austin did the right thing for him. Glad, everything checked out at the ER. Don't beat yourself up. Things happen. You took care of him and now he's better. God is good.
Choking can happen to ANYONE. I’m so glad that he’s ok! Praying for peace for y’all… that kind of traumatic experience can affect you more than you think!
There is nothing more precious than hearing little voices singing the praises of God❤️❤️❤️It us such a blessing to see young families being raised in the Lord! Such a beautiful sight ❤️❤️❤️
Wow so grateful your baby is ok. I'm 71 and I STILL remember one of my baby's was about 18 months old and had reflectixs on one of our bathroom windows and I had her sitting on the sink while I washed her hands and face and somehow she pinched off a tiny piece of the aluminum foil-like material and shoved it in her mouth and it got enlarge right at the end of her throat and kept passing out. I was terrified. Her daddy took her to the ER 2 minutes from our home and they found it and they hit her so hard in the back and that tiny piece flew out and she started screaming. I lost it. I cried so hard. I was begging God for this then toddler. She is almost 40 years old now and has 3 of her own. But I will never forget God's mercy and Grace on that day. I took the reflectixs off and threw it out. Babies like shiny things and those shiny things always go in the mouth. God is so good and I'm happy your baby is good! Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad Gunner is okay. I know how frightening it is. When my daughter was about the same age she choked on her food and it was terrifying. She couldn’t breathe. The look on her face was one of fear. Once my husband got the food dislodged all I could do was hold her tight and sob uncontrollably. That was a feeling that I wouldn’t want any parent to go through.
Things happen, Joy! Don't ever think you're a bad parent or let the haters get to you. Kids are going to have accidents; it's just the way it's! Praise God he's okay!
A sweet mother doing what we do. Making sure her son is not hungry. I had this happen when my son was 1 yea old. He is 40 now, and I still remember how terrifying this was. Joy, you are a great mom, never doubt that. Praying for you and your babies.
Love hearing the little ones singing about our Lord❤️ Grateful to God that Gunner is okay… when my youngest, my third, also, was about 18 months old. He choked on an ice cube that got lodged in his throat at the baseball fields on a hot 100+ degree day. I had let him drink out of my drink and he got one of the ice cubes. He turned blue and was frothing from the mouth. I did everything that I could to try to get him to choke it up. One of the umpires saw him and came, and did the Heimlich maneuver on him and he choked to the ice cube out. I was hysterical. It was some thing I have never gotten over. I never let my kids have anything like hard disk candies after that. I truly understand why you are crying! That fear is intense! So glad that he is OK. Hugs to you.❤️🙏🏼❤️
Joy you are a wonderful mother. With kids .. accidents happen. When my then 2.5yr old son and I were "playfighting" with my (then) 16yr old son we accidently broke his arm. Big brother was standing behind the sofa saying "no he's MY baby" as he tried to drag him over back of the sofa behind me. I would then say "no he's MY baby". I burst into tears and told the Doctor "I think we broke his arm". We had broken his elbow amd I felt horrendous. The Doctor told me "accidents HAPPEN" and he would have been more concerned if we hadn't been upfront about the playfighting. 2 weeks in a backslap, 6 weeks in a cast from shoulder to fingers and he was algood. Once in a while the now 13yr old will tell me "hey remember when you and Bubba broke my arm?" 🤦🏻♀️
I am so glad Gunner is ok. Hopefully that will be the only traumatic ordeal you have with your little ones. Your kids are so lucky to be able to experience those good times at camp. I am sure they are memories they will talk about for years and years. It is good to see kids being kids and not just glued to a “screen” all day long!
@@LovetteKourtShe didn't "feed" him the ham, he grabbed it from the edge of her plate, and tried to chew on it! Listen up if you're going to watch the videos. And especially if you are going to comment like mother of year whose never made a mistake in your life. Yeah, right!
I'm so glad that Gunner is alright. Having a small child choking is very scary. I have worked as a paramedic and I have responded to many such calls. I have prayed over every child that I have had to work on. I'm praying for you and your family. You and Austin are doing a great job raising your children. Keep up the good work ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The song the kiddos were singing at the beginning has such a wonderful message. Praising God with you that Gideon is back to normal & That HE is able to carry you through. God bless you all Joy. ❤️
I can’t imagine any one hating on Joy for this as a mother, this is one of our worst fears. She’s not even done telling the story and I am bawling my eyes out. Praise God ✝️
You can’t help when things like that happen and they happen in a split second. It sounds like y’all did everything right I’m so thankful that he is OK and that your mama heart will heal.
Bless you Joy! You are such a wonderful mom. You are raising three beautiful children and you just like the rest of us moms…normal!! Thank you for sharing your family with us! 🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕
I’m so sorry that happened. I have two little ones and I bought a Lifevac off of Amazon. I keep one in my car and one in the house. Gives me peace of mind. ❤❤❤
God is GOOD!! I'm sitting here crying with you mama!! I feel you on the husband thing,I feel like when my husband is there I can breathe a little better. Your a good mama!! Get some rest. Love you sister
Choking is the most terrifying thing to witness. You will likely experience ptsd for quite some time. Glad he is ok. Nothing worse than seeing your child go limp and turn colors. Prayers for your heart Joy. I have experienced this and it continues to be a struggle, the anxiety that comes in the aftermath
Joy, please ignore all the hateful & mean comments. You were just sharing. Plus lesson learn. All parents learn lessons raising our children at any age. You are doing great.
Something you might consider is a "subscription" to helicopter EMS . We're a 45 minute drive from the nearest hospital, but the heli can be here in 12 minutes. Ours has more training than regular EMS and they also carry more drugs. We're seniors, but our plan costs us $365 for 5 years. It's a small price for peace of mind.
These things happen Joy,as a mum of 8 children only one of my children had a choking episode my daughter was having tea at a friends house one evening and they had ham and my daughter Nicci who was maybe 4 at the time, choked on some fat my friend was panicking but managed to dislodge the ham manually from her throat after what seem like ages she told me.Thank the Lord she was ok .. I have worked as a care assistant in a hospital and I have worked with children at a school for 20 years and was lucky enough to learn CPR through my career on adults and children. Im so glad God was watching over Gunner and protected him.. When you trust in him he will watch over you all xxxx
There is a device called life vac I think for choking. Ads All over social media. Camp should have one (comes with adult and child mouthpieces. They should also have an AED machine on site too.
When my son was around a year old same thing happened..scared me crazy..but he’s fine now and in his forty’s with two beautiful granddaughters..your a great mom joy and so happy your precious baby boy is fine!!
Bless your hearts !!!! Choking is absolutely terrifying for a Momma and Daddy to have happen !!!! It happens a lot !!! I was an ER nurse and any of my kids choking or now my grandkids choking is still terrifying to me !!! We feel so helpless!!!! Praise God he is ok !!!! Good job handling the situation!!!! God bless .❤
So happy the baby is ok. I love your family and I love your opening of your video's. It's good to for the kids see that their parents love each other.❤
Glad he is ok. You are a great mom. I totally understand the worry after losing your baby girl in utero it just makes us parents worry more about the scary things that can happen to our children. We lost a little boy 32 yrs ago 42 minutes after birth. It was so hard to not worry about our other children.
Joy you're a great mom to your kiddos. This can happen to anyone you did what you had to do. People quickly judge under any circumstances Joy im so thankful that he's okay and back to himself again. Sending hugs ❤
Joy, I wanted to reach through and hug you so much! I’ve been through a similar situation with my daughter who is now 24, but was about a year old. It was the scariest thing ever. If anybody is saying any different, or coming at you in anyway ignore them! Because this happens more often than people talk about it and I’m glad you’re talking about it. Sending much love and hugs from a mama and a grandma here in Minnesota. 🤍
Gideon wants to be just like his father!! I loved when they were power washing the 4 wheeler, together. This reminds me of me and my dad growing up ( even though I’m a girl). I was my father’s sweet ‘Gideon,’ and those were the best childhood experiences in the world to me. ❤️💞☪️🎶🥰🎀🌈💌🆓🌱🌱🐻♥️☯️♾️Enjoy your summer, Forsyth Family!!! 7:19
Oh mama, my third baby is the same age as Gunner and I too had never experienced chocking prior to him. I ordered a life vac kit for peace of mind. Highly recommend having one on hand at all times!
I absolutely Agree! I wish they had this available when my firstborn started choking one day. It was terrifying being a first time mom, I panicked and luckily his dad knew what to do and he ended up being okay in the end. I would have felt better having had a device such as this!
I just ordered 3 life vacs after having my second baby. I’ve been putting it off too long. The other night, my baby sorta choked on a little food that I gave him and I even cut tiny bites, but he still put too much in his mouth. I was able to get it out of his mouth, but it scared me and I jumped on Amazon and ordered. When I was 5, I choked on a hard peppermint candy. It still traumatizes me so I’m extra careful with my kids.
I’m an adult and I started choking one evening while eating dinner and it was terrifying!! I thought I was going to die as I was by myself! I’m so sorry that happened to you!! I’m so glad that everything worked out well and that you knew exactly what to do ❤ sending you lots of love ❤️
They have portable choking rescue devices, I’ve had a similar experience and this device is extremely helpful and easy to use, puts your mind at ease. A lot of them have the different mask options to fit small and large faces!
Praise God he is ok! My baby chocked on a bow that fell off a dolls outfit and it was the scariest day of my life, thankfully she was ok, just a very scary moment. We have a life vac now.
Oh Dear heart.....a Mama's heart feels it all. Mine are grown, but i raised 4 boys and lets just say it was exciting! Calm your Mama heart now Darling ❤❤❤
The device that Joy was talking about is called a Pigg-O-Stat. When I did my clinicals as an X-ray student about 18 years ago we used them on children but a few years later the hospital I worked at decided to stop using them because parents complained saying they thought it was cruel to immobilize a child in that manner. Obviously, parents don’t want their child crying, scared and looking as if they are being hurt but from an X-ray point of view the images came out perfect because there was no motion from the child moving. I’ve seen more repeats having parents holding their child during an X-ray exam than there was using the Pigg-O-Stat. And with repeats more radiation. Anyways, Joy I’m so happy Gunner is doing great now.
They also don’t realize that them crying can help get better X-rays, particularly of the lungs. My 2nd had his chest X-ray done in one at 2 mos old. No, it doesn’t make you happy to see them like that, but you are doing what is best for them by getting the most accurate and least invasive tests done to then receive the best care and treatments from that. Thanks for your contribution to the medical community! So many many people have helped keep me alive the past 10 years after multiple organ failure and post transplant. Blessings!
Also, I hope I’m not a bad person for laughing at the images of babies in them. They are just so adorable; not laughing as the ones that cry though. I wondered if they renamed it for the patients and parents if it would more accepted.
@@WithLoveAshley yes definitely better images. Also, it was even better with the kids who were crying because we would time it when they took that deep breath in from crying. Taking a deep breath in expands the lungs which is what you want. So sorry for what you were or are going through. Hope you’re feeling better.
@@WithLoveAshley I think the first time I seen pictures in school before clinical’s I thought it looked faked like they were dolls. lol I don’t think it would matter if they changed the name because I don’t remember telling the parents what it was called. I think I just explained what it was. I think the parent’s concern was their kid looking like they were being smashed and the screams.
@@heatherwatson1021 Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and concern. I received a kidney transplant and my other organs healed, thankfully! I still have so many health issues, but I’m so far from where I was. The things you’ve said make sense. Many times, especially in a high stress situation, like at a hospital with their sick baby, parents can act more on emotions and protective instinct instead of logic. I admire your work and hope you are blessed!
I’m so happy Gunner is okay Joy! I had that happen with my oldest daughter with a piece of candy. She started to choke so I was hitting her on the back to help get it out and then she would stop choking. Every few minutes it went like that so I took her in. My husband was working nights do he had to rush home to take her in. After a 5 hour wait in the waiting room at the ER we, as the hospital personnel says we left against medical advice. When you bring in a child that is choking and you have them wait so long we felt they didn’t have our best interest at heart. With it being candy we figured it had to have dissolved by then. I was very emotional because at that time, didn’t know but I was over due with my second daughter and those hormones were crazy! lol You are an amazing mother Joy. I love that you let your children do their own thing supervised of course. It’s not the end of the world when they’re playing in the dirt and are covered head to toe with it. Kids need to be kids too explore and grow as an individual. Just keep being you Joy, you’re doing everything right and then some! Have a wonderful weekend. 🙏🏼❤️

I have prayed over every child that I have had to work on. I'm praying for you and your family. You and Austin are doing a great job raising your children. Keep up the good work ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m glad the kids had fun at camp. I’m thankful that God had Gunner in His hands the whole time.
Stop saying “hating”… it’s called criticism…. She was lacking on what to feed her CHILD… she needs to stop thinking being a parent is playing house.
@LovetteKourt and she needs to put her camera down. She's just like her parents exploiting Children for money.
And right here you are, with your face glued to the screen, exploiting with all the other hypocritical haters just like you! Family hater!
16:15 I pray so hard your mind eases from this trauma, your doing amazing momma
You can’t help when things like that happen and they happen in a split second. It sounds like y’all did everything right I’m so thankful that he is OK and that your mama heart will heal.
Bless you Joy! You are such a wonderful mom. You are raising three beautiful children and you just like the rest of us moms…normal!! Thank you for sharing your family with us! 🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕
I’m so sorry that happened. I have two little ones and I bought a Lifevac off of Amazon. I keep one in my car and one in the house. Gives me peace of mind. ❤❤❤
I bought 2 also for car and home after a friend died choking on a piece of meat. People tried saving him but nothing worked to get it out. 😢
God is GOOD!! I'm sitting here crying with you mama!! I feel you on the husband thing,I feel like when my husband is there I can breathe a little better. Your a good mama!! Get some rest. Love you sister
Oh Joy. I know exactly how you felt. My little boy got choked on a lifesaver. It was one of the scariest times of my life. I'm so thankful he's ok.
I love that y’all are teaching the kids about the goodness of God! You’re awesome parents
There is an aspirator to help with these situations. The camp should probably have some on hand for these emergencies, glad he's ok!!
I agree!! I’m so thankful he is okay too! It can happen to anyone ,at any age.
There is a device called life vac I think for choking. Ads All over social media. Camp should have one (comes with adult and child mouthpieces. They should also have an AED machine on site too.
Oh gosh! This happened to one of my children 23 years ago and still feels like yesterday. So glad y'all are happy, healthy and smiling ❤
Glad he's ok. These things happen and more. That's life, it just makes you more thankful for God's protection over little and big things😊🙌🙏🙏🏾
❤ oh my goodness thank you Father for putting your angels this precious little guy we thank you we praise you for this life
Aw Joy, praise God that he is okay! ❤
Because you practice grace in your daily lives, it's available for you. God is faithful and answered your prayers. His grace is sufficient!🙏🏽🙌🏽✝️🕊💜
Continued prayers for Gunner. I love this family. Younare blessed.
It's such a blessing to hear little one singing godly songs
I second this!
I absolutely Agree! I wish they had this available when my firstborn started choking one day. It was terrifying being a first time mom, I panicked and luckily his dad knew what to do and he ended up being okay in the end. I would have felt better having had a device such as this!
I've heard the life vac is great and can be used on adults too.
As a mom of 8, I agree!!!
I am so happy that Gunner is ok. Things happen to all children. God bless all of you. Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
They have portable choking rescue devices, I’ve had a similar experience and this device is extremely helpful and easy to use, puts your mind at ease. A lot of them have the different mask options to fit small and large faces!
Im so thankful that Gunner is ok!!!! You're such a precious mommy and things like this happen!!!!
Praise God he is ok!
My baby chocked on a bow that fell off a dolls outfit and it was the scariest day of my life, thankfully she was ok, just a very scary moment. We have a life vac now.
We got lifevac after my husband’s best friend died from choking on a piece of meat. We have 1 in our car and 1 in our kitchen.
Oh Dear heart.....a Mama's heart feels it all. Mine are grown, but i raised 4 boys and lets just say it was exciting! Calm your Mama heart now Darling ❤❤❤
Oh my gosh, y'all are in my prayers, Gunner will be ok. He is on of God's greatest gifts
@@WithLoveAshley I think the first time I seen pictures in school before clinical’s I thought it looked faked like they were dolls. lol
I don’t think it would matter if they changed the name because I don’t remember telling the parents what it was called.
I'm so glad Gunner is alright,Your a wonderful mom
Bless your heart. So thankful all is well. Reiterating what others have said - things happen, and y'all handled it so well. Hugs & Prayers.
Wow! I can’t get over how long Gunner’s eyelashes are! Just beautiful❤
8:59 completely mom talent, drive side by side, hold baby, film daughter, and narrate 💯
I'm so happy to hear Gunner is alright. I love his smile. It's not your fault, this stuff does happen. Love watching your family, so much awesomeness.
I was very emotional because at that time, didn’t know but I was over due with my second daughter and those hormones were crazy! lol
You are an amazing mother Joy. 🙏🏼❤️
That is unusual, usually at the E.R. in my town they take kids back right away. Glad your child was okay. ❤
@@cyndeewenzel6439 thanks, they’re always backed up at the one we go to. My husband has to go in once and we waited over 8 hours before he was called back. Wait times are always long.
@@Annette1965 You're welcome.
Glad Gunners is ok,mama your ok. Things happen, please don't let negative comments bring you down. How awesome that Austin is an EMT, who better to assess the situation especially until you got to the hospital. Blessings
Awe Joy! These things happen darlin. Main thing is God is gracious and He protected Gunner. All is well now. You have a lot work three young children. You have a beautiful family and you and Austin are raising those babies in the Lords will. Best thing ever. ❤
Every parents nightmare! Glad God heard and answered your prayers!
Praise God for always being good!! So thankful that Gunner is ok.
God answers prayers! Thank you for sharing this, accidents happen, but thankful you both knew what to do.
That is so scary, praise God y'all made it to the hospital. It's definitely a reminder to learn what to do in those situations, thanks for sharing.
How scary! Hugs. As a RN you did everything right Momma!
Being a parent has some scary moments. You are amazing parents. Praying for peace for you both and complete healing for Gunner.
Joy you are a great mom & that right there shows the power of pray & God & his angels WILL see us thru ❤️
this could happen to anyone
LOVE , LOVE , LOVE the song the children are singing in the back seat of the car!! So glad to hear these important scriptures sung in childrens voices!!!
Oh Joy how terrifying! Poor little thing. So glad he is now okay. Thing’s terrible like this do happen and it’s no one’s fault. Ham is difficult to chew and swallow even for an adult. Thank the good Lord your precious Gunner is doing well. God bless you and your beautiful family.
So thankful Gunner is okay 🙏 Incredibly frightening for all of you but you all kept your heads and reacted quickly and got him to hospital so the doctors could check him over. You did everything right Joy. I bet seeing him smile afterwards was the best feeling ever. You both are incredible parents, the way you both speak to your little ones is so loving and caring it makes my heart happy.
Oh Joy! I’m so sorry you went through this! How terrible! I’m so grateful to God that Gunner is ok! You’re a great mom!🥰
So glad that your baby is doing better. God is indeed a good God.
