Persimmon is my favorite fruit, not only because of its delicious taste n velvety texture, but also because of the color n shape of the fruit. In Chinese paintings,it appears as a fruit that symbolizes prosperity n abundance. Persimmon Christmas pudding is a treat !

In case anyone was wondering why keeping the Persimmon with apple causes it to ripe, it's cos the apple produces a gas called ethylene, an important compound to induce ripening, now that I think about it, should also work with bananas or melons(unfortunately I don't recall the exact reaction😅)

Mildly sweet, a little fruity. Some of them have an almost floral taste. They're not super strongly flavoured - what is there is pleasant, to be sure, but I don't know if these would be cultivated if they didn't also have a unique texture.
That being said, persimmons are still one of my favourite fruits! Would definitely recommend you try them. Do note that there is no such thing as an over-ripe persimmon. The riper it is, the better it gets.
