York actually meant a stranger in Sherbro as it was indeed named originally by the British, hence the grassroots settlers, i.e., Sherbro translation is a welcome stranger. York has a great historical history of liberated Africans.

I have a basic understanding and limited awareness of how the slave trade and its end touched Sierra Leone, but this kind of detail and information is significant. I am glad to learn about York history ---- the Sherbro People, the Creoles who were and are presently no other than Africans that returned back to Africa after the abolition of the slave trade which I prefer to call (THE S TRADE)! I heard about Water Street, the cemetaries, ......! And Triple A(AAA) I am in New Jersey, USA. Please keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍 👌 🙏 💪! My cousins in Spain 🇪🇸, England 🇬🇧 watch and like 👍 👌 😀 😉 😄 😎 your videos too. Point(s) worth noting is that we Creoles are no strangers in Sierra Leone, anywhere in Africa either.
