"Mumble rap" is more melodic and if you actually listen there will be lines that surprise you. The fundamentals of hip-hop and rap don't change (flow, lyrics, youthful exuberance) but what has changed is how it's delivered hence the change we see now. In my opinion, South African rappers are starting to bridge the gap between making music and rapping but that's also because of the current influences from America.

The fundamentals of hip-hop and rap don't change (flow, lyrics, youthful exuberance) but what has changed is how it's delivered hence the change we see now. In my opinion, South African rappers are starting to bridge the gap between making music and rapping but that's also because of the current influences from America.
He has set the standard for SA rappers going on Sway to freestyle. Not necessarily the music being made.
