A beautiful city nice and clean. You don’t see any homelessness. My Polish grandfather was from Vilnius born 1898. He said he lived near a River. Your video was wonderful. Plympton, Mass.
I don't want to be mean, but you literally did no research on Lithuania before your visit, it hurts to listen to you. You're talking about a European city like it shouldn't be European for whatever reason, Vilnius old town was not inspired by Poland, it was built by European trends of that time. Lithuania's history goes all the way back beyond Russia's and Belarus didn't even exist as a country. Vilnius is a great city in its own right.
Architects who planed buildings both in Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania (not always the same ones) were from German lands and Switzerland (Italian speaking part) and they followed basic European trends of the styles of each given period - Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque ( French word which phonetic spelling is "barɔk"). These styles are universally European and you find them with local variations from Spain and Portugal to Baltic Countries. In neighboring countries of couree they are more similar depending on the dominating centers of influence. For example Latvia and Estonia were under the strong influence of the powers of Hanseatic league (Denmark, German cities, Sweden). Lithuanian architecture was influenced by trends originated in Central European countries and independent cities of Prussia, Switzerland, Austria coming directly or indirectly (from Poland).
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed taking a virtual walk in my hometown. Still, I agree that it is hard to listen to someone who didn't research history before posting an introductory video about a country. He said Lithuania used to be a part of Poland. It was, in fact, a union of Lithuania and Poland for a brief period called The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - which bears a different meaning. Here are some important dates to Lithuania: 1009 - when the name of Lithuania was first recorded in the Quedlinburg Chronicle. 1387 - the Christianization of Lithuania, making it the last pagan country in Europe. During the 14th Century, the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania was the largest country in Europe (extending from the Baltic to the Black Sea). Cheers! 💛💚❤
OMG, i am totally with you. I stopped at 4mins into the vid as soon as he said “it is kinda like Mexico City here at around 3:30-3:40 ish. I guess he is just winging it
The street when you said that it looked like Mexican street I heard they were listening to Salsa Music - Marc Anthony- Vivir mi Vida - Jajaja 🤙🤙🤙 maybe it is a latino street 🤷♂️ idk
I'm convinced this video is a subtle spoof on travelogues made by the stereotypical American tourist. There are a few giveaways, though. Tallinn and Riga also have old towns and are both in Europe. But my favourite spoof was the reference made to the architectural style known as "baw-raw-kay". Very funny 😂😅
Oh i'd totally visit Belarus or Russia if i had the chance now, i personally don't pay attention to what the "talking heads" dictate.. I'm more interested in the culture and people of those lands!
@@walking-talking its not about politics but more about history: there is no ethnicity called russians at all. Their language is artificial. Created in 1666 and started to implement about 100 years later (find on wiki "List_of_constructed_languages" look for "Ruski jezik" in modern russian "русский язык") So called russians de facto are ugro-fins forced to lose their ethnic roots. May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, & a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED." God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
By the pressure/monitoring/forcing/ of german nazis who ocupied Lithuania in all of these mass shootings what happened german nazis participated . By such comment like whole country did it, sorry but it will go nowhere. There are plenty people who risked their life and saved them.
Vilnius is know as North Jerusalem and the second center of Thora studies. what a nonsense is in your head. If you mean Nazis occupation in 1941 and some Lithuanians participated in Jewish genocide, please keep in mind some Jewish participated in genocide of Lithuanians in 1939 under Soviet occupation
I am frm Poland, they all acuse us same thing, we Poland and Lituania, saved many Jews and they acknowledged that too, never fair, but history is a Fact @@vytautassulcas6494
