So happy that new organs are being built, and old organs being restored. Back in the '70's, was afraid they would all disappear and become extinct. So expensive and labor intensive. Even new organs all over Asia!
Hope they leave original pipe work alone. If you want some new sounds, ADD pipes in an echo division or something. Wonderful amazing building. Glad is seems to have survived war.
I hope you'll be pleased to learn that's definitely not the case. If it were an original organ you'd be quite right, but they threw out most of the original pipes in 1890, and then more in 1972, when many were also moved to other divisions and changed in pitch and voicing. It's not an 'original organ' in any sense, except for the facade. The few remaining pipes from the 1850s are definitely being kept, and many are being restored to their original position and function.
I hope we've advanced enough for that to not happen, unlike the '60's '70's when all the velvety luxurious stops were replaced with squeaky Baroque whistles. Leave legacy instruments tonally alone and if you want North German, build a new organ.
@@dariusbattiwalla9649 Darius - Yes, in 1972 the would have likely Baroquen the organ. They were smarter than the original builders. Isn't chancing the pipes of an old organ something like changing the colors of a Rembrandt, of van Goegh? Or the words of Chaucer or shaekspear (sp)?? Too bad these fools didn't recognize the work of a master and leave well enough alone. I am part of a team trying to restore the Mission church in Boston. 1968 it was ripped apart and Baroquen, wiring a total mess, chests a most awkward action and pipes swapped out for high pitched screamers. The guy who was supposed to restore it failed in his task, dragging a restoration in to adding electronic toys. Now my boss has stepped in and we hope to get things right as much as possible. More organs have been destroyed by fads than by fire, vandalism or neglect.
This is so exciting.

Wonderful. 😊😎🥰
Good luck!
Thanks, Terry!
Qué hermoso que un instrumento tan grandioso sea la estrella.
To get on the upper console, do you have to walk along some of the benches in front of it?
What is the name of the song that is played in the organ during the intro? :)

Restored - with new pipes. Another original organ going to slaughter. It needs releathering and cleaning., not rebuilding.
