I have to admit that our vacation has been highly influenced by the Outlander novels!! I'm re-reading them at this very moment! I can't wait to get there and hear Scottish accents all around me!
We always board our dogs. They share an extra large indoor/outdoor run, and we pay for extra walks and one on one playtime. It's not inexpensive, but I know they're in good hands. They also have a pet ambulance in case of an emergency they can transport my dogs to our vet.
We already bought our tickets for it! The boys love that kind of thing (and so do I). Their favorite stop in London was when we did the London Dungeon Tour-so cheesy but fun!
I have those brush sleeves, but I never use them for travel. It might not be a bad idea for the bigger brushes, just to save room, but, with packing for myself and two kids, I usually forget to do stuff like that!
I live near St Andrews and the weather has been fantastic today. So sunny and warm. The rain has never been a problem for me. I just can't get used to the wind!
Thank you for the great tip! We always "tour" the local universities when we travel. The last one we saw was Oxford, so now on to St. Andrews!! You never know, one of our kids could end up at one of the schools we've visited (although I highly doubt they'd get into Oxford). :)
RIght now it's so hot here (34 celsius) that I would LOVE to be cold!! We're actually staying at the Fairmont in St. Andrews, and I can't wait for a bit of luxury while touring! Thanks for the tip on the burger place-my kids will love that!
I SO wanted to stay at Gleneagles (for the whole vacation) but darn, it's pricey!! One of these days, though! Thanks for the tip about Tesco-I'd love to see the inside of one!
I hope you have a FABULOUS trip! My husband and I have been several times to Scotland and just love it. The countryside is BEAUTIFUL and the people are very hospitable and kind. ~Melissa
I started getting a gel manicure before I travel. Just got back from 2 weeks in Europe and it was the best thing - no worries and no mess - just perfect nails the entire trip.
i just always love your travel and packing video's - and i watch them so many times. last year before india i totally took your advice and packed all my make up with me, and thank God, because we were stuck in Dubai over night. xxx
We went last year, we had 10 days of sun so you never know. Get the Castle pass at your first castle it gets you into a bunch of British places for a week. You can use it in Edinburgh, Stirling, St. Andrews and on Loch Ness and any other Castle you pass in your travels. I think it is called an explorer pass. You can get one for distilleries too. I can't tell you how much I loved the Isle of Skye!
I find when you travel and you have to pack for it you realize what stuff you really love and can't live without :) It's interesting to hear you carry on your makeup with you, but that makes sense. I definitely take concealer as carry-on! This was a fun video, have an amazing time on your trip!
I've dreamed of going to Scotland!! Lucky you! One thing to think about...when I travel, esp. out of country, I always get a gel nail manicure before leaving. That way, you don't have to worry about your polish chipping, packing the polish and dealing with remover wipes. Think about that gel manicure..will save you time and worry! Have a fabulous time. Btw, you look gorgeous in this video. Thanks for sharing!
I too visited Scotland due to the influence of Gabaldon's Outlander books. Love them. Love Scotland even more. You need to read looks by Lynn Kurland too. Her books have a lot of Scotland and Scottish influence in them. You r going to have so much fun.
No-the exchange rate is worse! But, you don't have to pay tax (or you get it refunded when you leave the country), so it probably works out to about the same.
Yes it been snowing in Scotland the past few days, same here in Wales also high winds so bring some warm jumpers etc. There are plenty places to buy waterproofs if needed but it better to be safe than sorry!! Don't forget as well if you want to go to certain places with an entrance fee you can book before hand. Please bring your lovely weather with you. Have a look on Met Office UK and it should give you a five day weather forecast.
Since I saw your previous look with Naked Basics I have been using it almost exclusively as a base and jazzed up with a little colored liner. Duh, never thought to use Venus to add shimmer to my lid. I substitute in our school district. I have received compliments from eye-rolling 8th graders, Moms, teachers, and thank you every time! Enjoy your trip! I'm envious
So excited you're coming to the UK. I lived in Glasgow for 12 months and the shopping there is great, I'm back home in North Wales now. Can't wait to see your vlogs, wish I was free to meet you. Hope you have a great time love Lou xoxo
Love the whole look here Marnie...fresh, clean and beautiful! I would've loved to see this as ootd...btw, the nails completed this whole look too. ;) Enjoy your vacation and see you soon!
What a beautiful place to visit. We women always overpack our makeup. I always have to plan it out and then narrow it down over and over again, before I leave. Have a wonderful time.
Hey Marnie, still a little new to your chanel but I'm sure enjoying your tips on what you pack & how you're packing..have a wonderful trip and I'm sure we all can't wait to see what you bring back!! Have a wonderful safe trip!!!
Marnie you look positively stunning in this video! Thanks for posting a link for the healthy mix, I just placed an order. I've been waiting for asos to get it back in stock forever!!! Have fun in Scotland!!!
I have never been to Scotland but have been to England a couple of times, and I always pick up the MaxFactor 2000 Calories mascara (my HG mascara of all time), Soap & Glory Hand Food (lovely moisturizing hand cream) and of course the Bourgeois Healthy Mix foundation. Have a safe and wonderful trip! :)
Oooh! Congrats on the Scotland trip! Sounds amazing! Have you seen Lisa Eldridge's "Long Haul Flight" tutorial? I bought similar products before my flight to London last year and came off the plane looking great! It literally saved my face and was ready to hit the ground running when I arrived. Have a great time!
When you're in St Andrews the Vic cafe on St Mary's Place is a really good student cafe, great hot chocolate, nice budget student meals, nice atmosphere etc. It's a classic as well, my dad and uncle both went there during their years at St Andrews. They may have free wifi - you'll probably find free wifi in most student cafes :)
Marnie- you always say you're looking for awesome new product recomendations. Please please please try The Balm's Mary Loumanizer. You will fall in love! Most gorgeous highlight I've ever tried!
PS - make sure to go to 'mary's king close' in edinburgh - the boys will love it. they take you into the old closes (like old streets) the tour guides are actors and they're all dressed up. they give you a part history lesson, part acting part ghost stories. its lost of fun :) xx
Hi! You could try the bourjois blush in no 34 "rose d'or", it is great, very sheer but you can build it up and it's not that expensive either Have a great vacation!
Great video Marnie. I bought that Wet & Wild Sugar Coat and another one at CVS yesterday for the buy 1 get one 50% off sale. Can't wait to try it out. Have fun! Scotland looks so beautiful!
A great restraunt in Edinburg is the Witchery by the castle. It is on the road up to the castle. This restraunt is a special treat and must not be missed. It is a four star and pricey but iyou will not forget it! They have a web site so check it out!!!!
Yes a travel tip is to get the solid shampoo from lush as that stuff is great. I got the purple one that is for oily hair/clarifying and it is the best clarifying shampoo ever and I now want to get more of Lush's solid shampoo's to try but I am not traveling anywhere but Lush created/designed these solid shampoo with travel in mind because of the 3 ounce liquid rule. But they are great shampoos even if you are not traveling.
I live near Glasgow but goto east coast loads, you must visit the castle in Edinburgh, the people's palace is good and if you want to be terrified do the dungeons.. There are loads of different tours as well x in st Andrews, expensive but really nice hotels are the fairmont and the blackfriars. Ziggies is a great, small burger restaurant in st Andrews. Hope you have a great trip and it doesn't rain too much. Right now it's sunny but cold x
One of the best pinky nudes is in the color pure in tartes glamazon 12 hour lipstick. Its awesome! Its the lipstick that has the bamboo or wood case on it.
So excited for you!! You are going to LOVE Stirling and the views. We had dinner and a day there one time when we were staying at Gleneagles. Very close by. We will be heading back to Gleneagles next year for the 2014 Ryder cup. It's worth a drive-by. The husband could check out the course and the boys could check out the falconry. If you need necessities, Scotland's "Walmart" is called Tesco. Have a great time, Marnie! xx
I got Stereo Rose, neglected it while I was pale and now with a bit od tan I love it! :) Loved all that you got! Have a great trip and cannot wait to see your haul! :)
Delighted that you're coming to Scotland, sorry that you won't make it to Glasgow though. It does rain a lot here but not ALL the time and when the sun's out there's nowhere more beautiful. Seems you might be visiting places that Jamie and Claire might have been?? Culloden is very atmospheric, makes your spine tingle. Plenty of free Wi-Fi in hotels, restaurants and hotspots. May I extend a hearty welcome to you & your family and hope that you have a wonderful time in Bonnie Scotland
Bourjois have bought out a new bronzing collection- bb bronzing cream, bronzing primer and huge bronzer, the bronzing primer reminds me of Chanel bronze universelle, also 'fashionista' a brand sold in superdrug do some nice blushes that can form a palette, my fave shade is juicy apricot.
You LIVE there? How lucky are you?! Thanks for the tip-I'll definitely go check out those two shops! If you see me wandering around looking lost, please come by and say hello!
It's good to see you use a little more colors on your face like the MSF Stereo Rose and the more intense lip, you look fresh and lovely and 28! :) Have a great vacation

Thank you-my husband really liked my hair that day, too!
I hope you have a FABULOUS trip! My husband and I have been several times to Scotland and just love it. The countryside is BEAUTIFUL and the people are very hospitable and kind.

I have-I need to go back and watch that again!
With the WnW Sugar Coat, I don't even need a gel manicure-it's that good!
We went last year, we had 10 days of sun so you never know. Get the Castle pass at your first castle it gets you into a bunch of British places for a week. Have a wonderful trip! This is my favorite look on you! Hair and face! So clean and pretty!
I NEED rain and cold!! It's so darn hot here already! 34 celsius is too hot!
Those Hunters are definitely coming with me!! I'll make them fit!

There's a very close color in the Naked Basics palette, so since I'm trying not to overload on stuff, I'm leaving it at home. :)
Thank you so much!!
Thankfully, we are at a very high elevation, so we were not affected by the flooding. Thank you for asking!
I too visited Scotland due to the influence of Gabaldon's Outlander books. Love them. Love Scotland even more. You need to read looks by Lynn Kurland too. Her books have a lot of Scotland and Scottish influence in them. You r going to have so much fun.

You are so well spoken! You look amazing with your hair up!
Your make-up and hair is looking the best I can remember, so lovely! xx
No-the exchange rate is worse! But, you don't have to pay tax (or you get it refunded when you leave the country), so it probably works out to about the same.
