I liked the teaching. I know this is a few years old so may be unlikely I get an answer. However you mentioned that when Isaac carried the wood up Moriah he was 25? My studies show something closer to 37... the math would be linking the time of Sarahs death to be near this event. It would seem to me that whatever age he was that this would be the same age that Jesus was when he completed the sacrifice. So curious as to idea of 25?
This is some of my ideas and take on this very embowered sermon. Simon was called he was caught into the most important duty and privilege of history to me. What a extraordinary privilege to assist the Lord God Jesus Christ on His walk to the Cross. Simon didn't know at first the massive significance of his roped in what at fist seems a chance beam bearing task given to him. This unexpecting Simon would have looked at our suffering Saviour the enormity of what was taking place struck him with all his senses screaming and in his own spirit the gravity of all this would i believe to be almost overwhelming. But there was in addition to the execution Simon was randomly caught up, was the nature of something monumental but also later leaned of Jesus Love of humanity and Obedience to our Heavenly Father all this in the walk Jesus done for us sinner's was the fact that Simon of Cyrene a Jew and he was at the intersection of Christianity in an Divine appointed union. And this is Judaism in a most powerful statement. Simon you followed Christ bearing your load walked in the steps of Jesus your salvation was being formed before his eyes, as is He is the saviour for the Gentiles and all the world alike. The moment in that day with Simon of Cyrene was a intersection between God and man and Christianity and Judaism and the way was clearly shown.

It was a stake not a cross.
