How To Change The Engine Air Filter In A 2000 - 2006 GMC Sierra - Remove Replace Location Tutorial

A video tutorial on how to remove and replace the engine air filter in a 2000 - 2006 GMC Sierra. This video is for vehicles equipped with the 5.3L Vortec motor.
To change the engine air filter in your GMC Sierra you should perform the following steps:
1. Locate the air cleaner/filter assembly on the front corner of the engine compartment on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
2. Loosen the screws on the cover of the housing and lift up the cover.
3. Remove the engine air cleaner/filter from the housing. Care should be taken to dislodge as little dirt as possible.
4. Clean the engine air cleaner/filter sealing surfaces and the housing.
5. Install the replacement engine air cleaner/filter.
6. Replace the cover and tighten the screws.
How often should the engine air filter be changed in a 2000 - 2006 GMC Sierra?
It is recommended that you change the Sierra engine air filter every 10- 15,000 miles or once a year.

Thanks for the mechanics of how to remove and replace the filter .
Remind your viewers that the air box should be cleaned of any dust , leaves , etc and the seal around the box lid should be inspected for damage or leaks .
I apply a little vaseline around the lids sealing area , won't stick after another 20k miles.

Pd 18k in 2012 w 41k miles

we used vaseline on rubber and it eats through it. I think because its petroleum product. Not a bad idea for just plastic on plastic.
