One of my fav basslines ever! People always question why I love the YMCA bassline so much until I show them this video.. then they go back and listen to the original and they can finally hear it and pick it out. It's a crime that bass isn't cranked up in songs

i find it alot easier to play this with 3 fingers on the syncopation parts. is there any downside to this? my index finger always stays on the bottom string and my ring and middle finger takes care of the D/G string. only my left hand hurts :P
It’s very difficult to play it with only two fingers on the string that requires a note in rapid successful. I have known this song since I was a child like most people, but I only recognised the complexity of the chorus bass part was until I watched Despicable Me 3 with my son, in which the bass is sped up and much more prominent. I guess even junk TV has its small bonuses!
Really struggling with speed and starting the 16th NOTES with the index finger aghghgh!!

The chorus is an exercise in stamina. Doing that rhythm over and over tires my hand out by the fourth repetition lol

@EuBass do you have tips to play the octave part? like how do you play it? cause i struggle with the double notes alot
Hi ! try to study slowly and with a metronome, make sure you check the sound and dynamics, and only when you have refined the technique do you increase the speed :D
