  • This is my e39 BMW 540i. Color is original BMW water blue metallic with color code 896. It has 170 000 miles. I bought it with 155 000 miles, and since then have replace both bumpers did multiple DIYs including timing guides and a total cooling system overhaul. I've gone through a lot with this car and consider myself to be a moderately experienced DIYer. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

I think you did a very nice paint job on the car front and back and I think you did a magnificent job on the engine, one question did you change the timing chain and oil pump chain. I just had mine changed at 170 also, change the timing chain but didn't change the oil sump chain, but he did change the Vanos seals they're now quiet.

Why the side light warning? Halos we’re working. It because of the aftermarket halos?

Sean Wilks yes it throws up a warning because it’s failing a draw test because the LED’s have much less draw, you can disable the draw check with some software.

    Nice ride man.
You have the "tick, tick, tick" when idle on the upper part of the engine. As you say in your vid, you have changed chain rails? Is that noise vanos seals? Mine has 100k miles and I have the same noise, I am about to drop the oil pan to check for plastic pieces. But maybe its vanos?

bumpers look a little crusty. lots of peel, and the base coat looks like the nozzle spit the paint on. do the bumpers again or let a pro do them, its a clean car so its worth it, the bumpers bring down the car. head lights are hazy, they need a cut and buff, wheels need a cleaning aswell, take each wheel off and buy a good cleaner.

Almost sounds like there's a vacuum leak somewhere. Other than that, sounds just like mine.

lol I know, that was great pick up. My intake boot is broken and secured with super glue, replacement in the mail other than that I broke the secondary pipe so I had to get a new one when I put the engine together.

Mark Poposki I probably wouldn't have noticed normally, but I know the sound of this engine pretty well now. lol
